Pauline Abbott Donnell Nixon

NIXON, Pauline Abbott Donnell, 79, a resident of Deatsville, AL, died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, November 5, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Minister Terry Claunch officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Springs Cemetery, Millbrook, AL, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Nixon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and special aunt. She was an active member of Grandview Pines Church of Christ and the “Silver Threads.” She also generously volunteered her time and talent to the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 133; the Telephone Pioneers of America, and current President of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 1349. She was preceded in death by two beloved spouses, George Donnell, Jr. and Jack M. Nixon. She is survived by one daughter, Ona Jean Abbott; one son, Dwight (Sheila) Donnell, all of Montgomery, AL; three grandchildren, Crystal Jean Donnell, Jackie Lynn Donnell, Ona Alexis Abbott; three great-grandchildren, Patrick Donnell, Anniya Broadnax, and Deshawn Broadnax; one sister, Edna Gregory, Ft. Walton Beach, FL; special friend, Sam Sullivan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Drew, Daniel Drew, William Hester, Kevin Hester, David Hester, and Ronnie Abbott. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Infant Vera Newman-Spivey

NEWMAN-SPIVEY, Vera Ann, precious infant daughter of Shannon Newman and Robbie Spivey, died on the day of her birth, on Monday, March 24, 2006. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., from Prattville Memory Gardens with Pastor Roger Parks officiating, Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Vera Ann was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Alan “Little Bit” Newman and paternal grandfather, Tom Spivey. In addition to her loving parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Becky Newman and paternal grandmother, Cathy Spivey.

Barnett Lee Perry

PERRY, Barnett Lee, 89, the son of Madison Stark Perry and Ola Barnett Perry was born January13, 1918 in Montgomery, AL. He died September 2, 2007, at home. He married Elizabeth McCroy Perry on June 11, 1940, and they enjoyed 64 happy years of marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, Annetta and Leola Perry. He was preceded in death by his wife and his grandson, Henry Neal Register. Rejoicing in his life are his children, Annetta Perry (Tommy) Register, and Leola Perry (John, Sr.) Searcy; three grandchildren, Angie (Ben) Blaxton, John Searcy, Jr., and Elizabeth (James) Landwerlen; one granddaughter-in-law, Sharon Register; five great-grandchildren, Perry, Henry Paul, and Anne Marie Blaxton, and Mitchell and Parker Landwerlen. Barnett and Elizabeth have served their Lord in several churches including the following: First Baptist (Montgomery), Snowden, Pintlala, Normandale, Cloverdale, First Baptist (Prattville), and New Home Baptist (Titus.) Mr. Perry was a WWII veteran, butcher, and farmer. A service honoring the life of B.L. Perry will be from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial on Wednesday September 5, 2007, with Bro. Bill Baker officiating. Jimmy Cummings will sing In the Garden and How Great thou Art in honor of Mr. Perry. Private interment will follow the service at Prattville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Searcy, Jr., Ben Blaxton, James Landwerlen, Lloyd Snellgrove, Howard Bailey, and Joe Lindsey. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. The family wishes to thank Alacare Hospice and special caregivers, Tommy Register, Angie Reese, Ashley Senn, Ginger Bailey, and others. The family request donations be made to New Home Baptist Church Building Fund in honor of Barnett Perry, 1605 New Home Road, Titus, AL, 36080.

Alan Newman

NEWMAN, Curtis Alan “Little Bit,” 49, a resident of Marbury, AL, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 14, 2005, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Charles Mims officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. At the time of his death, Alan was employed with the National Tobacco Corporation headquartered in Louisville, KY. He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky McVey Newman; two daughters, Heather Newman Hollingsworth and Shannon Newman; one son, John Newman; one grandson, Colby Baker; his dear mother, Pauline Newman; his father and step-mother, Virgil and Connie Newman; four sisters, Patricia (Jerry) Grantham, Gayle Knighten, Betty Dedman, and Dyan Grant; five brothers, George (Evelyn) Cook, Glen (Kathy) Cook, Wade (Janeen) Newman, David Newman, and Marc (Kristin) Newman. Active pallbearers will be Doug Warrick, Don Owens, Willie Sayer, Duane Wright, Raburn Carlon, James Thompson, Terry Fountain, and Johnny Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be George Cook, Glen Cook, Wade Newman, David Newman, Marc Newman, and Eddie McVey.

Sandra Ann Nelson

NELSON, Sandra Ann, affectionately known as “Nana” 60, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2008, at a Montgomery hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., from Prattville Community Church, with Reverends Bobby Hicks, O.T. Bruner, and Nick Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnutt Creek Cemetery in Verbena, AL, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Nelson was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelly and Balzora Mims; three brothers, Howard Mims, Ray Mims, and Melvin Mims; and two sisters, Aleen Henley and Peggy Thompson. She is survived by her beloved spouse of forty-three years, Marvin E. Nelson; three sons, Marvin E. Nelson, Jr., David L. Nelson, and Billy Nelson; one granddaughter, Elaina Hope Nelson, “Nana’s Girl”; and one brother, Barney C. Mims. Pallbearers will be Lee Perkins, Michael Ferguson, Jeremy Hooks, Ray Albritton, Eddie Pate, Mattew Pate, and Cecil Albritton. Honorary pallbearers will be the Children’s Church of Prattville Community Church. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Nelson will lie-in-state one hour prior to her service on Thursday.

Kitty Norton

Norton, Kitty Belle, 81, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peacefully Wednesday, December 6, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial with Reverend Rodney Culpepper officiating. Burial will follow in White Water Community Cemetery, with Prattville Memorial directing. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jackson and Norma Norton, both of Prattville, AL; one son, Richard (Joan) Norton, Fort Payne, AL; one sister, Frances (Clark) Williams, McClenney, FL; one brother, Harvey (Blondell) Golson, Panama City, FL; three granddaughters, Katie Norton, Michelle (Dale) McCrackin, and Stephanie (Jimmy) Southerland; four great-grandsons, Jesse McCrackin, John, J.R., and Christopher Southerland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Michael Allen Oliver

OLIVER, Michael Allen, 36, a resident of Prattville, AL, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Prattville, with Reverend Anthony Christensen officiating. Burial will follow, with full firefighter honors from the Pelham Fire Department, at Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Oliver dedicated his life to helping save others as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Pelham Fire Department. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dyess, Mr. James C. Oliver, and Mrs. Dorothy Foshee. He is survived by his parents, Mary and James Oliver, Deatsville, AL; two sisters, Sandi (Randy) Schroyer, Prattville, AL, and Regina (Walter) Kelly, Covington, LA; one brother, Anthony (Lara) Oliver, Millbrook, AL; four nieces, Megan Jayroe, Marie Kelly, Laken Sisk, and Jennifer Shepherd; six nephews, Caleb Jayroe, Trevor Jayroe, Walt Kelly, Cameron Oliver, Taylor Sisk, and Jonathan Schroyer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be his brother, Anthony Oliver and the Pelham Firefighters. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Oliver’s friends from the Parachute Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Verbena Baptist Church, 197 Co. Rd. 500, Verbena, AL 36091. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

William Pouncy

POUNCY, William Lloyd, 72, a resident of Prattville, AL, died at home on Friday, February 11, 2005. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2005, at 4:30 p.m., from Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Pouncy honorably served his country during the Korean War as a Veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Dorothy Pouncy. He is survived by one daughter, Bridget Parks, Fayetteville, TN; one son, John Wayne Pouncy, Harrison, AK; two stepsons, David (Kay) Stroud, Alabaster, AL, and Randy Stroud; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Bonnie Webb, Montgomery, AL; and several nieces and nephews, including Linda Bell, Montgomery, AL. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday afternoon one hour prior to his service.

Helen Ostrye

OSTRYE, Helen V., 83, went home to be with God, on Monday, May 14, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Father Charles Troncale, will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prattville, Alabama. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mrs. Ostrye’s late husband, Norbert, predeceased her on Thursday, April 26, 2007. Her full-time commitment was to her children and husband of 60 plus years. She is survived by her children Ken, Tricia, and Kevin of Alabama, and Mark of Oklahoma. In addition, she had ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Helen requested your gifts be contributed to the Building Fund at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, P. O. Box 479, Elmore, AL 36025. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m., followed by a wake service.
