Mrs. Jeanette Murphy Peterman of Martha Avenue, Dothan, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 82. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Woodham officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Lafayette Street United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Mrs. Carolyn E. Robison of Dothan died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 28, 2002, at her residence in Dothan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark. Other funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced later by Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark, 334-774-4551.

Mr. Willie F. Baxter of Boxwood Drive, Ozark, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Dale Medical Center. He was 67. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Believers in Christ Church in Ozark with Bishop Kenneth Beckwith officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Lillie Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Brundidge. A wake for Mr. Baxter will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Ozark Memorial Chapel.

Elizabeth Johnson (Lib) Brogden of Carefree Circle, Marietta, Ga., formerly of Headland, died early Friday morning, Jan. 3, 2003, in an Atlanta hospital following a brief illness. She was 85. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at First Baptist Church of Headland with the Rev. Norman C. Simmons and Dr. Cecil M. Sanders Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory near Headland. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Headland Ministry Center. Bobby Duwayne Chancy of Wimbledon Drive, Dothan, died at his home in Dothan Friday evening, Jan. 3, 2003, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 44. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at First Baptist Church in Geneva with the Rev. David Causey and the Rev. Mark Gainey officiating. Burial will follow at Leddon Baptist Church Cemetery near Geneva. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva. Mrs. Lucy E. Coleman of Ozark died late Friday evening, Jan. 3, 2003, at her residence following a long illness. She was 86. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W.L. Sheffield and the Rev. T.J. Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Mr. William (Bill) Desy of Private Road, Enterprise, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Extendicare Nursing Home (Hospice Unit) after an extended illness. He was 76. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bo Powell officiating. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

Veeda C. Dorriety of East Main Street, Hartford, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Flowers Hospital after a brief illness. She was 88. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Shepard and the Rev. Todd Heil officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb. The body will be placed in the church one hour before service time.

Chester W. Hall, a resident of Wiregrass Nursing Home and formerly of Slocomb, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in Geneva after a brief illness. He was 94. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at First Baptist Church of Slocomb with the Rev. Dan Raley officiating. Burial will follow at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb. At all other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Sue and J.C. Smith, Forrest Avenue, Slocomb. Mrs. Faye Johnson Pynes Hicks of Pansey Road, Ashford, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 81. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Ashford City Cemetery.

Mrs. Ethel P. Kirkland, a resident of Westside Terrace, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, after an extended illness. She was 89. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Singletary officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Mrs. Annie Pearl Marshall (Pul), passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002. She was 63. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Sweet Bethel Baptist Church, 701 Bethel Road, Kinsey, with the Rev. Walter H. Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Dothan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Unity Funeral Home. Ida Lee Massey of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in a local nursing facility. She was 87. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Berean Baptist Church in Dothan with the Rev. Raymond Holt officiating. Interment will follow at Ashford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Mrs. Ruby McRae of West Lafayette Street, Dothan, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at her residence. She was 81. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Howard's Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Kelley officiating. Gladys H. "Mother" Seward of Dothan, a retired geriatric technician, went home to rest Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 92. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at Greater Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Hollman officiating. Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery. John M. Sherling of Meredith Street, Enterprise, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Medical Center Enterprise after a brief illness. He was 62. Collis Calvin Watford 2388 Fire Department Road, Gordon, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following an extended illness. He was 88. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Pete Blackshear and the Rev. Mark Bristow officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Mr. Watford will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Sunday.

Anthony Scott Womack, a resident of Norcross, Ga., and a former resident of Dothan, went to be home with the Lord, Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, following an apparent heart attack. He was 38. A special memorial service celebrating his life will be 2 p.m. today at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Jones, the Rev. Tim Willis and the Rev. Thaxton Whiddon officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, "New Journey Building Fund" in Scott's honor, 1231 Fortner St., Dothan, Ala. 36301.

Jessie Thomas Arnold Jr. of Destin, Fla., died suddenly Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at his residence with his wife at his side. He was 71. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at Destin United Methodist Church, Beach Drive, Destin, Fla., with Dr. Ken Taylor officiating.

Mr. Stephen Lane Ball, of 829 Duke Street, Dothan, died Dec. 28, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, in Headland, Alabama with Reverend David Collins officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing.

Robert Irving (Bob) Burall, a resident of Dublin, Georgia, died Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 2002, in the Carl Vinson V.A. Medical Center in Dublin after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Mr. Russell Bryan officiating and Holman-Abbeville Mortuary directing.

Mrs. Vivian Martin Chamberlin, of Enterprise, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in Enterprise. She was 83. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday from the St. John's Catholic Church with Father Joe Wadus officiating and Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. Entombment will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Syracuse, New York.

Mr. Johnny D. (J.D.) Cummings Sr. died Dec. 28, 2002, at the Dale Medical Center. He was 85. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Flowers Center for Performing Arts, Ozark.

Mr. Gerald "Buddy" Daymon Henderson, a resident of 10375 South County Rd. 81, Gordon, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at his residence following an illness of several months. He was 55. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2002, at the Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael McLendon and Roger Dunnam officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Springs F.W. Baptist Church Cemetery in Pansey with Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Norma Johnson Holland, 87, of the Salem Community near Skipperville, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2002, in a Dothan Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in Salem Baptist Church with the Reverend Harold Peters and the Reverend William A. Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Ms. Mary Lee Kelly, 92, a resident of Oakview Manor Nursing Facility, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at the St. Louis Baptist Church in Elamville, Ala., with the Rev. Allen Young presiding.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Ilene Langolis and husband, Leo of Conreo, Texas, and Judith Ann Pearson and husband, Larry of Forest Park, Ga.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
