BLACKSHER - Edgar Lee "Pete" Marshall Jr., 44, died Nov. 27, 1998. He was a native and resident of Blacksher.
Marshall is survived by his parents, Edgar Lee and Elizabeth Marshall of Little River; his wife, Alma Marshall of Augusta, Ga.; three daughters, Joylander Marshall of Augusta, Ga., Cora Galloway and Krystal Galloway of Delray Beach, Fla.; 11 brothers and sisters; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tate Creek Baptist Church in Little River with Elder Roosevelt Valree officiating. Burial will follow in the Tate Creek Cemetery.
Baldwin Community Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Minette is handling the arrangements.

BILLY BAUGH HOLCOMBE
STOCKTON - Billy Baugh Holcombe, 60, of Stockton, died Dec. 2, 1998, at his residence.
Born in Fort Payne, Holcombe was a Merchant Marine.
Holcombe is survived by his wife, Penny L. Holcombe of Stockton; three daughters, Tracy D. Holcombe of Stockton, Kimberly E. Conway of Robertsdale and Amber P. Johnson of Montrose; a son, Terry L. Holcombe of Stockton; a brother, Kenneth N. Holcombe of Pine Grove; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Stockton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Glen Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Stockton Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Norris Funeral Home of Bay Minette.

WILLIAM E. 'BILL' BELL
ROSINTON - William E. "Bill" Bell, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998.
Bell was a native of Gastonia, N.C., and a resident of Rosinton. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a retired member of civil service, an active member of the Rosinton United Methodist Church, a trustee of the Rosinton School for more than 20 years.
He was also a former officer and member of the Robertsdale Masonic Lodge No. 821.
Bell is survived by his wife, Sylvia Cooper Bell of Rosinton; a daughter, Beverly Bell Boswell of Silverhill; two sons, Michael S. Bell of Rosinton and Barry A. Bell of Crestview, Fla.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rosinton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lee Allen will officiate and burial will follow in the Old Cooper Cemetery in Rosinton.

Melva Lee Rutledge
MONROEVILLE - Melva Lee Rutledge, a retired beautician, died Thursday at a Foley hospital.
Mrs. Rutledge, a Monroe County native, resided in Monroeville and was a member of First Baptist Church there.
Survivors include her father, Herman Fuqua of East Brewton, Ala.; a son, Tony Grantham of Manchester, Tenn.; a daughter, Pattie Bowen of Daphne; two brothers, Jack Fuqua of Mayetta, Kan., and Marvin Fuqua of Columbia, S.C.; three sisters, Jean Ates of Milton, Fla., Anne Weekly of Foley and Lois Thornton of East Brewton; and a granddaughter.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville, with burial at Pineville Cemetery.

Marion Benson McLaurin Jr.
MONROEVILLE - Marion Benson McLaurin Jr., a longtime area banker, died Wednesday after an extended illness. He was 64.
McLaurin, a resident of Monroeville, was a retired vice president and cashier at Peterman State Bank.
He began his career as a bookkeeper at the Monroe County Bank in 1953 and over the next 21 years advanced to the position of senior vice president and cashier. He joined the staff of Peterman State Bank in 1974, retiring in September 1996.
A member of Southside Baptist Church in Monroeville since 1957, he had served as a deacon, trustee, lay speaker, Sunday school and church training teacher, and chairman of numerous committees over the years.
The Rev. Royce L. DuBose, pastor at Southside Baptist Church, praised McLaurin as a man of wisdom, insight and vision.
"He was seen as a helper, not a hinderer. He always lifted people up, " DuBose said of his friend.
McLaurin's leadership in the church was respected, DuBose said "I trusted his insight and will miss his leadership, guidance and involvement."
He also remembered his friend as a good family man who, during the last critical months of his battle with cancer, was more concerned with his family and how they would cope rather than focusing on himself.
"He had a unique relationship with his children and his wife. He and she were very, very close, " DuBose said. "He was a good man. He'll be missed."
McLaurin also served as treasurer of the Bethlehem Baptist Association for 10 years.
Not only did McLaurin give of himself to his church, but he was active in the community for many years. He was a coach/officer of Monroeville's Little League, Babe Ruth and Advanced Babe Ruth programs.
In 1966, he was named an Outstanding Young Man of America. His affiliations included the Monroeville Jaycees, Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce, Monroe County Cattleman's Association, the PTA, the Monroe County High School Tiger Booster Club and the Alabama National Guard.
He had been a member of the American and Alabama bankers' associations since 1953.
McLaurin graduated from Monroe County High school in 1953; the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University in 1972; and the Dale Carnegie School of Speech. He completed courses in economics, accounting, tax accounting and law through Patrick Henry State Junior College and the American Institute of Banking.
An avid hunter and fisherman, McLaurin was a member of the Monroe County Conservation Club, the National Rifle Association and the Bass Angler's Sportsmen Society.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Bayles McLaurin of Monroeville; two daughters, Dianne M. Whiddon and Lynn McLaurin of Monroeville; one son, Robert B. McLaurin of Andalusia, Ala.; his mother, Ruby McLaurin of Uriah, Ala.; three sisters, Charlotte Lambert of Eliska, Ala., Nell Thomas of Atlanta and Art Johnson of Millen, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Southside Baptist Church with burial in Deer-Corinth Cemetery in Franklin, Ala. Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville is in charge of arrangements.
