Maureen E. King

MONROEVILLE - Maureen E. King, a former Vanity Fair Mills employee and member of Monroeville First Baptist Church, died Friday at a local nursing facility. She was 83.

Ms. King was a Frisco City native and a Monroeville resident.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Joseph of Monroeville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Colton J. Qualls

MEXIA - Infant Colton Jackson Qualls, the son of Joseph A. and Gerri Lynn Qualls of Mexia, died Thursday in a Monroeville hospital.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Jodi Lynn Qualls of Mexia; paternal grandmother, Marilyn Qualls of Uriah; maternal grandparents, Clara and Jerry Brown of Mexia; great-grandmother, Helen Ruth Aubin of Monroeville; and his great-great-grandmother, Ruth Cardinal of Uriah.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Semirah Springs Cemetery in the Semirah Springs community of Uriah. Monroe Chapel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Laura K. Griffis

URIAH - Laura K. Griffis, a homemaker and member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, died Sunday at a Mobile hospital.

Mrs. Griffis, 65, was a lifelong resident of the Uriah area.

Survivors include her husband, Everett Griffis of Uriah; her mother, Lela Kircharr of Semiriah Springs, Ala.; three sons Steven Wade Griffis of Fairhope, Roger Kent Dailey and George Daniel Griffis, both of Uriah; one daughter, Patricia Griffis Ikner of Frisco City; one brother, James Kircharr of Uriah; three sisters, Mildred Perry of Leakesville, Miss., Evieleen Hales of Atmore and Shirley Weaver of Mineola, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville with burial in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Uriah.

Fletcher A. Harris

FRISCO CITY - Fletcher Alexander Harris, who had worked as a farmer, died Sunday in a Monroeville hospital. He was 91.

Harris, of Frisco City, was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was a member of Mineola Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Dale Harris of Frisco City; nine sons, Elbert Harris, Ed Harris, James Harris and Ronnie Harris, all of Frisco City, Will Harris, Charles Harris and Robert Earl Harris, all of Uriah, Ala., Clyde Harris of Ollie, Ala., and Larry Harris of Excel, Ala.; three daughters, Merle Tolin of Atmore, Ala., Annie Harris of Mexia, Ala., and Mary Ann Tillman of Fairhope; two sisters, Nettie Weaver of Frisco City and Jennie Merchant of Mobile; 16 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Mineola Baptist Church in Mineola, Ala., with viewing from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Mineola Cemetery. Monroe Chapel Funeral Home in Monroeville is in charge of arrangements.

Robert E. Lambert Sr.

MONROEVILLE - Robert Emmett Lambert Sr., a retired insurance agent, died Sunday at a local hospital at the age of 81.

Lambert was a native and lifelong resident of the Monroeville area and was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroeville.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret F. Lambert of Monroeville; one son, Robert E. Lambert Jr. of Monroeville; four sisters, Gussie Lambert of Mexia, Ala., Jo Merriweather of Mobile, Willie King of Bay Minette and Mildred Gomillion of Andalusia.

Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Baptist Cemetery.

Josephine Parker

MEXIA - Josephine Parker, a homemaker and retired employee of Brookley Air Force Base, died Saturday in a local hospice.

Mrs. Parker, 82, was a native of Washington County and resident of Mexia. She was a member of Louis Grove Baptist Church of Cortelyou, Ala.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin Parker of Mexia; and her sister, Floretta Steele of Prichard.

Visitation will be at Reese Funeral Home in Prichard from 9 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Whistler Cemetery.

Irma Lee Hendrix

FRISCO CITY - Irma Lee Hendrix, a Frisco City resident, died Friday at an area hospital. She was 75.

She is survived by her husband, Burly Morris Hendrix of Frisco City; a son Clayton M. Hendrix of Frisco City; a sister, Etta Mae Griffin of Frisco City; a brother, Wes Sigler of Frisco City; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville, with burial to follow in Union Cemetery in Frisco City.

Zerline C. Lee

EXCEL - Zerline C. Lee, a native of Monroe who resided in Excel, died Friday. She was 88.

She is survived by her daughter, Sara Rexroad of Freeport, Fla.; a sister, Zenobla McCrory of Mobile; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. today at Excel Cemetery.

Monroe Chapel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
