GOODWAY - Bessie Pauline James, a Monroe County native and a Goodway resident, died Thursday at a local nursing home. She was 83.
Mrs. James was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Linam of Atmore and Dannylu Wilson of Columbia, Tenn.; two brothers, Artel Peaden and Clyde Peaden, both of Santa Rosa County, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mexia Cemetery.

Ruth Pauline Green
EXCEL - Ruth Pauline Green, a Monroe County native and Excel resident, died Sunday at her home. She was 73.
She is survived by her husband, Jim F. Green of Excel; a son, Jimmy Darrell Green of Mobile; three brothers, Fred Jordan, James R. Jordan, and Jerald Jordan all of Excel; three sisters, Joyce Blanton of Frisco City, and Imogene Purvis of Molino, Fla.; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with burial in Excel Cemetery.

Helen Andrews
URIAH - Helen Andrews, former teacher in the Monroe County schools, died Friday in a Mobile hospital. She was 76.
Mrs. Andrews, a native of Monroe County, lived in Uriah, where she was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Alabama State University.
Survivors include one son, Mose A. Andrews of Uriah; two daughters, Helen Marie Clausell of Mobile and Carolyn B. Dailey of Houston; one brother, Arthur E. Brown of Pensacola; one sister, Carolyn B. Williams of Tuskegee; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morning Star Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Jones Funeral Home is Monroeville is handling arrangements.

Larry Longmire
VREDENBURGH - Larry Longmire, a member of Apple Grove Baptist Church in Vredenburgh, died Thursday in a Mobile hospital. He was 44.
A native of Monroe County and resident of Vredenburgh, Longmire held an associate's degree in computer technology.
Survivors include his parents, Roy and Thordie Longmire of Vredenburgh; six brothers, Lonnie Brown, Eddie Longmire, Lee Charles Longmire, Lether Longmire and Lindsey Longmire, all of Detroit, and Donald Longmire of Franklin, Tenn.; four sisters, Freddie Brown and Gloria Carol, both of St. Louis, Mo., Vivian Longmire of Franklin and Debbie Longmire of Mobile.
Services are set for 11:30 a.m. today at Apple Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Jones Funeral Home of Monroeville is handling arrangements.

Clarence Ernest Blanton
Clarence Ernest Blanton, a Monroeville resident, died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 88.
Blanton worked as a sawmill laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Cliffie Mae Blanton of Monroeville; three sons, Gene Blanton and Dannith Ray Blanton, both of Monroeville, and Mark Blanton of Repton; seven daughters, Bertha Morrison of Monroeville, Gloria Zemliska of Repton, Beverly Knight and Shirley Welch, both of Excel, Wendall Taylor, Carolyn Womack, and Brendall Philen, all of Frisco City; two sisters, Rosie Brooks and Evie Lee Yoeman, both of Monroeville; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Frisco City. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville.

Henry E. Brooks
Henry E. Brooks, a Pine Orchard native and an Excel resident, died Thursday in a local hospital. He was 67.
Brooks worked for the county on the road crew.
His survivors include his wife, Wilda Brooks; and two aunts, Ulater Pipkins of Pine Orchard and Maggie Hardee of Monroeville.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery in Old Texas. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville.

Carro Nichols
Carro Nichols, a Perdue Hill native and resident, died March 27 at a Mobile nursing home. She was 92.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, past Worthy Matron of Ruth Choice Chapter No. 821 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Evening Light No. 27, the Independent Order of Universal Brotherhood.
She is survived by one son, Robert Earl Nichols of Detroit; two daughters, Vivian Tucker of Perdue Hill and Minnie E. Gaillard of San Antonio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Mount Gillard Baptist Church. Burial will be in the McConnicol Cemetery in Perdue Hill.
Arrangements were handled by Penn Funeral Home in Monroeville.
