Merle T. Wiggins
MONROEVILLE - Merle Taylor Wiggins, a homemaker and member of Mexia Baptist Church, died Wednesday at a Mobile hospital. She was 95.
Mrs. Wiggins, a native of Old Salem, Ala., was a resident of Monroeville.
Survivors include five sons, Alphis M. Wiggins, Charles H. Wiggins and Jesse L. Wiggins, all of Mexia, Ala., Hildred "Hick" Wiggins of Uriah, Ala., and Larry Douglas Wiggins of Castleberry, Ala.; two sisters, Lilly Scarobrough of Mexia and Louise Rowell Addison of Frisco City, Ala.; a sister, Mary Nettles of Monroeville; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Mexia Baptist Church, with burial in Mexia Cemetery. Monroe Chapel Funeral Home of Monroeville is in charge of arrangements.

Grace L. Hamilton
MONROEVILLE - Grace Lounette Hamilton, a former nurse, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 81.
Miss Hamilton, a Clarke County native, was a resident of Monroeville.
Survivors include her brother, Louie Hamilton of Dadeville, Ala.; and her sister, Ruth Lindsey of Jacksonville, Fla.
Graveside services are set for 3 p.m. Sunday in Allen Cemetery in Grove Hill, Ala., with Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville directing.

Betty Jane Miller
MONROEVILLE - Betty Jane Miller, a longtime Sunday school teacher, died Sunday at an area hospital. She was 70.
Mrs. Miller, a longtime resident of Monroeville, was a native of Statesville, N.C.
She joined First United Methodist Church of Monroeville in June 1955 and remained an active member until her death. She was in the church's UMW and choir. She spent 37 years teaching Sunday school. She also had helped organize the Gulf Coast Women's Retreat and was involved in many community activities.
She is survived by her husband, William L. Miller of Monroeville; two sons, Dr. William L. Miller Jr. of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Kenneth S. Miller of East Lyme, Conn.; two daughters, Tina Coleman and Jan Feaster, both of Kennesaw, Ga.; her mother, Florence Casler of Monroeville; a brother, Raymond L. Casler of Panama City, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Monroeville. Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at Pineville Cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville is directing.

Obie Morris
EXCEL - Obie Morris, who had worked in the finishing department for Frisco Manufacturing Co. in Frisco City, died Tuesday at a local nursing facility. He was 79.
Morris, who resided in Excel, was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was a member of Excel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Hendrix Morris of Excel; a brother, Narvin Morris of Lakeland, Fla.; and a sister, Leola Martin of Brewton, Ala.
Visitation will be this evening from 5:30 to 8 at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial at Shiloh Cemetery.

Rudolph Majors
EXCEL - Rudolph Majors, who had worked in the finishing department at Vanity Fair Mills, died Tuesday at the age of 74.
Majors was a Monroe County native and Excel resident. He was a member of Excel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Vickery Majors of Excel; a son, David Majors of Excel; two daughters, Angelia Williamson of Excel and Meta Kay Bailey of Megargel, Ala.; a brother, Dale Majors of Excel; a sister, Carol Parrish of Excel; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Excel Baptist Church with burial in Excel Cemetery.

Julius J. Watson
BEATRICE - Julius James Watson, a member of Beatrice Baptist Church, died Tuesday at an area hospital. He was 71.
Watson was a lifelong resident of Beatrice.
Survivors include his wife, Wiltie Watson of Beatrice; a son, Mack Watson of Old Texas, Ala.; two daughters, Martha Lundy of Columbus, Ga., and Fairy Lambert of Athens, Tenn.; two brothers, Joe Watson of Chestnut, Ala., and Clifton Watson of Prattville, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 10 a.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville, with burial in Pineville Cemetery.

Rosa J. King
MONROEVILLE - Rosa J. King, who had formerly worked as a telephone operator, died Thursday at a local nursing home. She was 96.
Mrs. King was a Kentucky native and a Monroeville resident.
She is survived by one son, Joe King of Alexander City, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Burial will be in Pineville Cemetery in Monroeville.
