William F. Avery
ATMORE - William F. Avery, a longtime resident of Atmore, died Thursday in Pensacola. He was 88.
Known as "Bill" to family and friends, Avery was retired from construction and from the restaurant business. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Avery of Atmore; two sons, William E. Avery of Abbeville and Robert C. Avery of Buena Vista, Colo.; two daughters, Patricia Paulson of Locke, N.Y., and Carolyn Boda of Willseyville, N.Y.; five sisters, Lula Firenso, Edith Denman, Grace Vanorman and Eva Sweazy of New York and Nancy Maxwell of Massachusetts; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Louie C. Ledkins
ATMORE - Louie C. Ledkins, who was retired from Champion, died Saturday in Atmore. He was 69.
Ledkins, who resided in Atmore, was a native of Bratt, Fla. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred R. Ledkins of Atmore; three daughters, Dianne Ledkins of Pensacola and Linda Kuechenmeister and Dona Burris, both of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two brothers, Alvis Ledkins of Bratt, Fla., and Ronald Ledkins of Atmore; two sisters, Mable Jeter and Anna Mae Roley, both of Bratt, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, with burial at Halls Fork Cemetery in Phillipsville, Ala.

Minnie Pearl Butler
ATMORE - Minnie Pearl Smith Butler, a homemaker and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, died Sunday at the age of 90.
Mrs. Butler was a lifelong Atmore resident.
Survivors include one son, Julius L. Butler of Thomasville; two sisters, Maggie Smith of Atmore and Vergia Knight of Los Angeles; one brother, Ernest Smith of Atmore; 39 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today at Turner Funeral Home on Carver Avenue in Atmore. Services are set for noon Saturday in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 21 in Atmore. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Minnie Rean Lawson
ATMORE - Minnie Rean Lawson, a lifelong resident of Atmore, died May 4 in a Mobile hospital at the age of 50.
Ms. Lawson was a member of Mount Calvary Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include brothers and sisters, Brunetta Warren and J.C. Lawson Jr., both of California, Louis Lawson of Texas, Maryam Salaam of Georgia, Willie Lawson of Atmore, Betty Lawson and Barbara King, both of Mobile.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Mount Calvary Primitive Baptist Church, 1652 Butler St., in the Trinity Gardens community of Mobile, where services are set for 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with Azalea Funeral Home of Mobile in charge of arrangements.

Carolyn S. Wiggins
ATMORE - Carolyn Steele Wiggins, a homemaker and resident of Atmore, died Tuesday in Atmore at the age of 72.
Mrs. Wiggins was a native of .
Survivors include two sons, Greg Wiggins and Michael Wiggins, both of Atmore; five daughters, Olivia Bryan, Peggy Hobbs, Jane Wiggins and Sue Turberville, all of Atmore, and Beth Berry of China; one brother, Clyde Steele of Bay Minette; one sister, Dorothy Byrne of Atmore; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 tonight at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Friday in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Verlin R. Yoder
ATMORE - Verlin Richard Yoder, an Atmore farmer, died Sunday in Mobile.
Yoder, 55, was a native of Goshen, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda K. Yoder of Atmore; one son, Brent Yoder of Atmore; two daughters, Nelda Yoder and Lila Yoder, both of Atmore; his father, Henry J. Yoder of Brooksville, Miss.; four brothers, Alvin Yoder of West Liberty, Ohio, Glen Yoder of Mountville, Pa., David Yoder of Macon, Miss., and James Yoder of Brooksville.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. Services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mennonite Christian Fellowship, with burial at Freemanville Community Cemetery.

Gladys Merity Smith
ATMORE - Gladys Merity Smith, who had worked as a lab technician with Monsanto, died Wednesday in Pensacola. She was 66.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Atmore.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Smith of Atmore; three sons, Doug Byrd of Robertsdale, Ken Byrd of Clewiston, Fla., and Bob Smith Jr. of Maysville, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
