He leaves to cherish many fond memories: a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Clearn Parks, Luverne; three loving daughters, Ramona, Debora, and Carol Parks, Luverne; six grandchildren, Andre, Sedrick, Tony, Nikki, Patrick, and Areka, all of Luverne, one great-granddaughter, Alexus Parks, Luverne; four sisters, Mrs. Louise (Robert) Lackey, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Dorothy (David) Coleman, Tampa, Florida; Mrs. Shirley (Jonny) Searight, Boiling Springs, North Carolina; two brothers, Rev. Joe R. (Brenda) Parks, Rutledge; two brothers, Cornelius (Bill) and Jim Henry Parks, who preceded him in death; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
Rev. John H. Curry, Jr., Officiating.
Interment: New Hope (Valley) Cemetery.
Hudson Funeral Home, Greenville, Alabama in charge of final arrangements.
Scripture: New Testament Rev. A. C. Johnson, Old Testament, Rev. Scott Miller; Prayer of consolation, Rev. Johnny Hollis; Hymn, Rev. Delano Smith (third cousin); Eulogy, Rev. Solo Rev. Roderick Rideaux.

Jim Kennedy, Sr.
8-30-1915 - 12-7-1999
Date of Death: December 7, 1999 in Dallas County
Jim Kennedy was born August 30, 1915 in Wilcox County to the late Nellie and Percy Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella, son, Jim Kennedy Jr, two grandsons, Donald Kennedy and Cerow Kelsaw.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Samuel (Luvenia} Kennedy, Tom (Dessie) Kennedy, Michael Ann Threadgill and Mamie (George) Blackmon of Coy, Ala.
Interment - Kennedy Temple Cemetery - Coy, Alabama.

Vivian Floyd

Graveside service for Vivian Floyd, 79, of Birmingham, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Mausoleum with the Rev. Richard Lane Stryker III officiating with Earnest Johnson Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Floyd died Monday, July 24, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Decatur, to Steven Wynn, Sr. and Rosie Orr Wynn. She was a graduate of Decatur Negro High School and Alabama A&M University and attended Tuskegee University. She was a former member of King's Memorial United Methodist Church in Decatur, and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She taught in Birmingham schools for 47 years.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Floyd; one son, Ralph Floyd of Birmingham; one brother, Horance Wynn of Detroit; and five grandchildren.

Alonzo Griffin
79, retired school bus driver

Funeral for Alonzo Griffin, 79, of Oakville, will be Sunday at noon at Gibson Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Yarbrough officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 to 7 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Mr. Griffin died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1920, in Lawrence County to Mary and Andy Griffin. He drove a school bus for Lawrence County Board of Education. He also worked in the Housekeeping Department at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.
He was a member of Gibson Chapel Methodist Church. He served as a steward at the church and was superintendent of Sunday school. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Regue Chapter No. 69, where he was secretary. He was the past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Orba Chapter No. 148.
He is survived by three sons, Leonard Stover of Louisiana, Randy Griffin of Decatur and Gregory Griffin of Oakville; two brothers, L.V. Griffin and P.B. Griffin, both of Cleveland, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Masonic brothers.

George Hammonds

HAMMONDS, Deacon George, age 83, of Dayton, departed this life Friday March 15 2002. He was born in Huntsville, AL, and a resident of Dayton, for 50 years. He was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, former Chairman of the Deacon's Board, Sunday School teacher, member of the Senior Choir, and Male Chorus. Retiree of GM after 22 years of service. Survived by wife, Evangeline Hammonds; daughter Rosalee (Gilbert) Foster; sons Jesse (Lori) Hammonds, Anthony (Linda Hands) Hammonds, and Myron Graves; step-son Hartford Goosby; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Briscoe, Missie Cornelius, Ella (Harold) Robinson, Peggy Jean Scruggs, Geraldine (Walter) Pruitt; sister-in-law, Louise Vance; other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be Thursday 11AM at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 5370 Dayton Liberty Rd. Rev. Johnny Vance officiating. Interment West Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service. A Special Thanks to Mercy Sienna Nursing Center. Service respectfully rendered by H.H. Roberts.

Frank Singleton, Jr.

Frank Singleton, Jr., died January 11, 1983, in Mobile County, Alabama, born April 6, 1907, in Chickasaw, Mobile County, Alabama.
Born April 6, 1907, Mr. Frank Singleton, Jr., a native of Chickasaw, Al. and a former resident of Plateau, Al. departed this life Tuesday, January 11, 1983. He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Gloria Ely-Singleton; five daughters, Mrs. Edwina Mixon of Plateau, Ms. Barbara J. Singelton, Ms. Loretha Singleton, Providence, R. I., Mrs. Voncile (Charles) Taylor, Mrs. Inez (Cleve) Smith pf Prichard; seven sons, Mr. Winston A. Singleton, Auburn, N. Y., Anthony and Donald Curtis, Frank, III, Roberto, Gerald and Melvin J. Singleton, all of Prichard; three sisters; Mrs. Mattie (Enoch) Benjamin, of Prichard, Mrs. Vince (Jasper) Agee, Mrs. Ethel (Marvin) Agee of Chicago, Il, five brothers, Mr. Clarence (Cornelia) Singleton of Prichard, Mr. Edley (Joyce) Singleton, Boston, MA, Mr. Melvin (Vivian) Singleton and Mr. Preston Singleton of Ohio, nineteen grandchildren, one devoted, Arlean Horton, eight great-grandchildren, six sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, one devoted, Mr. John Kidd of Plateau, Al., devoted friends, Mr. Allie B. Srcuggs, Mr. James (Annie) Sanders and Mrs. Rosie Singleton, Providence, R. I. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Plateau, Al, January 15, 1983, 11:00 AM, Father William Cantwell Officiating. Interment in the Plateau Cemetery, Plateau, Al., Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, directing.

Edward "Ed" Collins

Edward "Ed" Collins, died March 8, 1966, in Plateau, Mobile County, Alabama, born July 4, 1893 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Mr. Edward Collins, born July 4, 1893, was a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and a resident of Plateau, Alabama, for a number of years, and a resident of Oakland, California, for the past seven years, passed away, Tuesday, March 8, 1966. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Plateau, Alabama. he leaves to mourn, a devoted wife, Mrs. Alberta Pugh Bumpers-Collins, six stepdaughters, Mrs. Nancy Law-Lassiter, Mrs. Flossie Law-Watson, both of Plateau, Alabama, Mrs. Nettie Law-Dickinson, of Prichard, Alabama, Mrs. Grace Daws-Horn, of Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Eartha Murphy and Mrs. Beatrice Law-Jackson, both of Oakland, California, one stepson, Mr. Jimmy Law, Jr., of Boston, MA, five step-sons-in-law, Mr. Howard Lassiter, Mr. Marshall Watson, Sr., both of Plateau, Alabama, Mr. Jerome Dickinson, of Prichard, Alabama, Mr. Clifford Horn, Sr., of Detroit, Michigan and Mr. Clarence Jackson, Sr. of Oakland, California; 28 step-grandchildren: two devoted grandchildren, Mr. Larry Murphy and Mr. Archie Williams, both of California, four sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law, several other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in state in the Union Baptist Church, Plateau, Alabama, Sunday, March 13, 1966, at 8:00 p. m. until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be held from the church, Monday, March 14, 1966, at 11:00 a. m. with Dr. H. H. Smith Pastor and officiating Minister. Internal will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Chapel directing (successors to Smith and Gaston), Taylor H. Hodge, Sr., President.
