Catherine Cagle Dickey
Funeral services for Catherine Cagle Dickey, 77, Live Oak, Fla. (formerly of Stanton), were held on Oct. 29, 1999, at Pine Grove Methodist Church in Live Oak, Fla.
Burial followed at Live Oak Cemetery in Live Oak, Fla.
She was a homemaker. She died at her residence on Oct. 26, 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Carey G. Dickey, Albany, Ga., Lawrence S. Dickey, Jr., Live Oak, Fla., and R. Wayne Dickey, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Barbara Alice Wenzel, Columbia, Md.; one step-son, Ronnie C. Dickey, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence S. Dickey, Sr., and her brother, C.E. Cagle, Jr.
Jessie Charles Adams
Funeral services for Jessie Charles Adams, 50, Billingsley, will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ralph Jones, Rev. Harlen Harris, and Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Adams was born on July 4, 1949, in Chilton County, the son of the late Willie B. and Evie Adams. He was a steel fabricator. He died on Nov. 2, 1999, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Gay Nell Adams, Billingsley; three daughters, Jenelle Marie Peters and Rebecca Diann Cleckler, both of Thorsby, and Jessica Faye Fortenberry, Verbena; five sisters; three brothers; and six grandchildren.
Mildred Palmateer
Mildred Palmateer, 89, formerly of Port Huron, Mich., died on Nov. 2, 1999, in Birmingham. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Alabama Funeral Homes and Cremation Centers of Dadeville are in charge of arrangements.
She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlene Popwell, Clanton; one son, Dr. Dean C. Palmateer, Clearwater, Fla.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Palmateer, and her parents, Ray and Mable Dean.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 748 Adams Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104.
Luther M. Smitherman
Funeral services for Luther M. Smitherman, 82, Dora, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at 2:30 a.m., with Rev. Keith Brakefield officiating.
Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, from 5-8 p.m.
Smitherman was born on July 14, 1917, in Chilton County, the son of the late Joseph and Daisy Mae Smitherman. He was a coal miner. He died on Nov. 3, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Ritza Spears, Westwood; one step-son, Larry Smith, Utah; three sons, Terry Smitherman and Jimmy Smitherman, both of Dora, and Roy Smitherman, Warrior; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Alfonza Thomas "A.T." Hathcock
Funeral services for Alfonza Thomas "A.T." Hathcock, 75, Northport, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton, on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Eagan officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethsalem Baptist Cemetery in Billingsley, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Hathcock was born on Jan. 18, 1924, in Alabama, the son of the late Grover C. and Ressie F. Hathcock. He was a farmer and was in the U.S. Air Force from Dec. 5, 1945, until Nov. 26, 1946. He died at his residence on Nov. 3, 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude P. Hathcock, Northport; one step-daughter; one sister, Frances Mae Buldger, Prattville; and two brothers, Grady Hathcock, Tuscaloosa, and Eugene Hathcock, Montevallo.
Curtis Lee Dykes
Funeral services for Curtis Lee Dykes, 84, Clanton, were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, with Rev. Frank Mims and Rev. Howard Carroll officiating.
Burial followed at Chilton Memorial Gardens, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Dykes was born on Nov. 8, 1914, in Alabama. He was a painter. He died on Nov. 4, 1999, at Tallassee Health Care.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Mae McDowell Dykes, Clanton; on son, Joe L. Dykes, Sulpher, La.; one daughter, Carolyn Muncher, Clanton; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Sweetie Mae Smith
Funeral services for Sweetie Mae Smith, 91, of Clanton were on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating.
Burial followed at New Harmony Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Lomax with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Smith was born on Aug. 6, 1908, in Chilton County. She died Nov. 1, 1999, in Soledad, California.
Survivors include three sons: Danny Smith and Tony Smith, both of Salinas, California, and Billy Smith of McEwen, Tenn.; a daughter, Izola Parrish of Soledad, California; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
