Funeral services for Arthur Thomas Tucker, 71, Maplesville, were held on Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Mulberry Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Jones and Dr. Norman H. McCrummen officiating.
Burial followed at Mulberry Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Tucker was born on Jan. 14, 1928, in Jefferson County, the son of the late Wiley T. Tucker and the late Eula LeCroy. He was a building inspector. He died at Brookwood Medical Center on Nov. 11, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Carl Stanley Tucker, Grady; three daughters, Bonnie Green, Montgomery, Lela Allred, Clanton, Barbara Crowe, Woodstock; two brothers, Jack Tucker, Montgomery, and Frank Tucker, Lawton, Okla.; three sisters, Edna Earle Tucker, Maplesville, Ramona Short, Montgomery, and Alma Plemmons, Jacksonville, Fla;. 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
James W. Bice
Funeral services for James W. Bice, 80, Clanton, will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at 3 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Thomas E. Hilyer and Rev. Roger Ellison officiating.
Burial will follow at Chilton Memorial Gardens, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Bice was born on Aug. 7, 1919, in Chilton County. He was a farmer. He died on Nov. 17, 1999, at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Bice, Clanton; one son, Benny Bice, Lockhart, Texas; four daughters, Cheryl Robinson, Nancy Price, and Terry Ellison, all of Jemison, and Marsha Ellison, Thorsby; one brother, Joe Bice, Clanton; and one sister, Mary Dennis, Clanton; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
J.T. Franklin
Funeral services for J.T. Franklin, 79, Clanton, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church in Maplesville, with Rev. Wendell Kelley and Rev. Willard Ratliff officiating.
Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, 1999.
Franklin was born on Feb. 11, 1920, in Chilton County, the son of the late Johnny and Ether Franklin. He was a heavy equipment operator. He died on Nov. 18, 1999, at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster.
Survivors include his former wife, Elvie Lou Franklin, Clanton; one son, Wayne Franklin, Maplesville; one sister, Lera Mae Biggs, Clanton; and two granddaughters.
Bobby Gene Ousley
Graveside services for Bobby Gene Ousley, 68, Birmingham, will be held on Friday, March 3, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Alpine Baptist Church in Chilton County, with Rev. William Ratliff officiating and Jefferson Memorial of Trussville directing.
Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton on Thursday, March 2, from 5-8 p.m.
Ousley was retired after 37 years of service to SMI Steel and Conners Steel. He was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church and of various fraternal, service, and civic organizations. He also served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He died on Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Ousley; one daughter, Laura Elaine Ousley; three sons, Scott Elton Ousley, Steven Lee Ousley, and David Ray Ousley; one brother, Odis Otto Ousley; one niece; one nephew; and three grandchildren.
Evelyn Gertrude Callaway
Funeral services for Evelyn Gertrude Callaway, 102, Sanford, N.C., will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton on Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Bob Ledlow officiating.
Burial followed at Clanton City Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Callaway was born on Aug. 23, 1897, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Robert and Leona Popwell. She was a school teacher. She died on Feb. 26, 2000, at Convalescent Care of Lee County in Sanford, N.C.
Survivors include one son, John R. Calloway, Sanford, N.C.
Rosa Lee Popwell
Funeral services for Rosa Lee Popwell, 69, Clanton, will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charles Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 29, from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.
Popwell was born on July 8, 1930, in Tylertown, Miss., the daughter of the late J.K. and Matting Money. She was a housewife. She died on Feb. 25, 2000, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Darnell, Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-sister, Evelyn Smith; one half-sister, Liddie Fredrick, South Haven, Miss.; three half-brothers, Charles Money, Millington, Tenn., Kenneth Money, Memphis, Tenn., and James Money, Drummonds, Tenn.; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Popwell.
Melvie Carrie Ratliff
Funeral services for Melvie Carrie Ratliff, 93, Sylacauga, will be held at Radney-Smith Funeral Chapel in Sylacauga on Friday, March 3, 2000, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Kay Harrison officiating.
Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, 2000, at Radney-Smith Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. until the start of the service.
Ratliff was born on Dec. 4, 1906, in Maplesville, the daughter of the late George and Liddy Roebuck. She was a homemaker in her own home. She died on Feb. 29, 2000, at her residence.
Survivors include her sister, Margaret Monk, Sylacauga, and one nephew.
