Funeral services for William Whitten Brown, 92, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton on Friday, March 10, 2000, at 11 a.m., with Elder Mike Smith and Elder C.E. Tucker officiating.
Burial will follow at Chilton Memorial Gardens, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 9, 2000, from 5-8 p.m.
Brown was born on June 5, 1907, in Chilton County, the son of the late Marvin Whitten and Sarah Elizabeth Brown. He was a carpenter. He died on March 7, 2000, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia B. Burks, Clanton, and Linda Harvin, Dallas, Texas; one sister, Ozella Cox, sister, Clanton; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Virginia Brown.
Bobby Gene Hilyer, Jr.
Funeral services for Bobby Gene Hilyer, Jr., 39, Thorsby, will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church on Friday, March 10, 2000, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Randy Gothard officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, March 9, 2000, from 5-8 p.m.
Hilyer was born in Michigan, the son of Bobby Gene and Cecilia Maria (Sissy) Hilyer. He was a restaurant owner. He died on March 6, 2000, in Brierfield.
Survivors include his father, Bobby Gene Hilyer, Sr., Thorsby; his mother, Cecilia Maria (Sissy) Hilyer; three daughters, Jennifer Hilyer and Valerie Hilyer, Alan Park, Mich., and Rachele Hilyer, Taylor, Mich.; two brothers, Billy Wayne Hilyer, Taylor, Mich., and Donald Glenn Hilyer, Thorsby; and two grandmothers, Maggie Hilyer, Thorsby, and Josephile Garcia, Lincoln Park, Mich.
Bernice W. Scott
Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice W. Scott, 88, of Jemison, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Center Hill Baptist Church in Jemison, with the Rev. William Short and the Rev. Thomas Hilyer officiating.
Burial will follow at Center Hill Baptist Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Scott was born in Chilton County on June 25, 1911 to the late William and Janie Nix Webb. She died on March 13, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Smith and Lucille Martin, both of Jemison; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Gladys M. Pilgrim
Funeral services for Gladys M. Pilgrim, 95, Thorsby, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 11, 2000, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Buddy Hayes and Rev. Harry Gulledge officiating.

Pilgrim was born on July 22, 1904, in Douglasville, Ga., the daughter of the late Isom and Annie Morris. She was a homemaker. She died at her residence on March 8, 2000.
Survivors include three daughters, Faye Maddox, Thorsby, Reba Rowe, Savannah, Ga., Evelyn Flurnoy, Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar R. Pilgrim.
Pauline Giles Smitherman

Smitherman was born on May 11, 1921, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Lonza C. and Nomie E. Robinson. She was a homemaker. She died on March 7, 2000, at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Elvin Smitherman, Clanton; three sons, Ted L. Giles, Jemison, Kenneth Giles, Mobile, and Ray Giles, Thorsby; three step-sons, Johnny Smitherman and Ollie Lamar, both of Jemison, and Carl Lamar, Clanton; one step-daughter, Mary Arnold, Columbiana, Gail Avery of Clanton; four sisters, Athlon Robinson, Auburn, and Essie Pearl Martin, Maudine Jones, and Janice Wilson, all of Clanton; two brothers, Jerry Robinson and Lane Robinson, both of Clanton; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Esta Wilkins
Funeral services for Mrs. Esta E. Wilkins, 81, Thorsby, were held at 3 p.m. yesterday with the Rev. Roland Davis officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 1 Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
She was born on August 25, 1918 in Alabama to the late John and Kansas Jones Shelton. She died at Wetumpka Nursing Facility in Wetumpka.
She is survived by one son, Gene Wilkins of Thorsby; one brother, Roy Shelton of Snead; and three grandchildren.
