Doris A. Thrash
Funeral services for Doris A. Thrash, 67, Jemison, will be held at Rocky Mount Methodist Church on Thursday, April 27, 2000, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joe Hearn officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Grove Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 26, 2000, from 6-8 p.m.
Thrash was born on July 25, 1932, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Orman and Lera Glasscock Arledge. She was a homemaker. She died on April 24, 2000, at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Hoyt L. Thrash, Jemison; one daughter, Myra T. Varden, Shelby; two sons, Gregg L. Thrash and Martin L. Thrash, both of Jemison; two sisters, Rheda Carden, Jemison, and Debbie Martin, Clanton; one brother, Howard Arledge, Guntersville; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lena Viola Yates Schuffert
Funeral services for Lena Viola Yates Schuffert, 94, Coopers, will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton, with Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating.
Burial will follow at Chestnut Creek Cemetery in Coopers, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Schuffert was a Baptist and a retired homemaker. She was a sixth-generation descendant of Moses Yates, a founder and the first preacher at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member. She died on April 26, 2000.
Survivors include one son, Bill Schuffert, Prattville; two daughters, L.V. Spiers, Madeira Beach, Fla., and Mavis Mathews, Verbena; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Henry Schuffert; one son, W.C. Schuffert; one daughter, Margaret Lott; and one granddaughter.
The family requests memorials be made to Chestnut Creek Baptist Church, c/o Charles Cagle, 11975 County Road 24, Verbena.

Kenneth (Franky) Franklin Smith
Funeral services for Kenneth (Franky) Franklin Smith, 47, Clanton, will be held at Union Springs Baptist Church on Friday, April 28, 2000, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Harlen Harris officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Springs Baptist Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Smith was born on June 24, 1952, in Shelby County, the son of Mary Faye Smith and the late Julius Franklin Smith. He was a painting contractor. He died on April 26, 2000, at his residence.
Survivors include Mary Faye Smith, Clanton; three daughters, Consi Love, Hueytown, Aliesha Smith, Gardendale, and Kimberly Mays, Mulga; one son, Julius Franklin (Doc) Smith, Calera; four sisters, Louvene Wallace, West Blocton, Betty Smith, Clanton, and Bonnie Cox and Allene Rogers, both of Jasper; two brothers, Jimmy Smith, Alabaster, and Varney Smith, Clanton; and two granddaughters.

Julia Danewood McCormick (1 of 2)
Julia Danewood McCormick, 76, Thorsby, died on May 1, 2000.
McCormick was born on Dec. 18, 1923, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Thomas and Minnie House. She was a nurse. She died at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
Survivors include her husband, Bill McCormick, Thorsby, and a niece.
Martin Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Julia House Wilkins McCormick (2 of 2)
Graveside services for Mrs. Julia McCormick, 76, Thorsby, will be held Monday, May 8, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Isabella with the Rev. David Hand and the Rev. Randal Mims officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing.
McCormick was born on Dec. 18, 1923, in Bessemer to the late Thomas Pickens and Minne Lee Atchison House. She was a retired nurse.
She died on May 1, 2000 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert E. Wilkins and brother, Edgar Allen.She is survived by her husband, Bill McCormick, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jess E. Andrews
Funeral services for Jess E. Andrews, 85, Clanton, will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Russ Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Andrews was born on Feb. 10, 1915, in Alabama, the son of the late William and Clara Andrews. He was in public relations. He died on April 30, 2000, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Grace G. Andrews, Clanton; two sons, C.E. Andrews, Little Rock, Ark., and Harold E. Andrews, Georgetown, Ga.; two daughters, Jessie M. Simmons, Jasper, and Carolyn Grant, Montgomery; two sisters, Mabel Terry, Memphis, Tenn., and Jean Bagwell, Jasper; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Willard Lee Tucker
Funeral services for Willard Lee Tucker, 85, Maplesville, will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Randolph Baptist Church, with Rev. Bob Mahaffey and Rev. Charles Teague officiating.
Burial will follow at Randolph Baptist Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Tucker was born on Nov. 17, 1914, in Alabama, the son of the late Wiley Columbus and Louneria Tucker. He was a machine operator. He died at Bibb Medical Center Nursing Home in Centreville on April 30, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda T. Kane, Randolph, and Lanice T. Dial, Northport; and four granddaughters. He was preceded in death by Ada Lee Tucker.
