Graveside services for Lorene Cost Byrd, 81, of Calera will be held on June 13, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison, with Rev. John Spain officiating.
Byrd was born on April 16, 1919 in Alabama, the daughters of the late Walter Cost and Ethel Cost. A homemaker, she died on June 12, 2000 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.
She is survived by two sisters, Delyn Cost of Calera and Dollie Peters, of Calera; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalmers Byrd; a sistser, Leona C. Smith; a brother, J.T. Cost; her father, Walter Cost' and her mother, Ethel Cost.
Charles Hubert Goggins
Funeral services for Charles Hubert Goggins, 50, will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Creek Baptist Cemetery in Mt. Creek, Ala..
Goggins was born on Jan. 1, 1950, the son of Edna Faye Goggins and the late Ersley Lawrence Goggins. A resident of Verbena, he died on June 11, 2000 at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda G. Goggins of Verbena; a son, Michael Boozer and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Boozer, of Clanton; a duaghter, Amanda Smitherman and son-in-law, David Smitherman, of Clanton; a son, Charles Daniel Goggins, of Clanton; a daughter, Rachel Sewels, and son-in-law, David Sewels, of Clanton; his mother, Edna Faye Goggins, of Clanton; three brothers, Larry Goggins of Tennessee, Eddie Goggins of Montgomery and Kelly Goggins of Clanton; two grandsons, Seth Smitherman of Maplesville and Dillon Goggins of Clanton; and two granddaughters, Dixie Goggins and Alexis Goggins, both of Clanton.

Funeral services for Judy Lee Green, 55, will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Chapel #2 in Maplesville, with Rev. Scott Tuell, Rev. James DeLoach and Rev. Dearl Lett officiating.
Interment will follow at University Highway Church of God in Maplesville.
Green was born on May 20, 1945 in Denver, Colo., the daughter of Augusta Marie Dickson Martin and the late William Fletcher Dickson. A resident of Planterville, she was a parademic and died on June 11, 2000 at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster.
She is survived by her husband, Millard E. Green of Planterville; two sons, Millard E. (Gail) Green Jr. of Wyatt City, Ala., and Michael E. Green of Maplesville; a daughter, Michele G. (Bo) Maddox of Maplesville; her mother, Augusta Marie Dickson Martin of Clanton; a sister, Doris (Glenn) Arthur of Conway, S.C.; three brothers, James (Nancy) Martin of Vacaville, Calif., Ed (Lee) Martin of Arvada, Colo., and Don (Chris) Anderson of Sarasota, Fla.; two granddaughters, April Cobern and Haylee Howell; and three grandsons, Travis Green, Justin Howell and Cody Howell.
Reedie Jefferson Adams Jr.
Funeral services for Reedie Jefferson Adams Jr., 67, will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Peter Hutchins officiating.
Interment will follow at Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
Adams was born on April 4, 1933 in Chilton County and was a resident of Verbena. A salesperson, he died on June 11, 2000 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Adams of Verbena; two daughters, Kelly Adams Hayes of Jemison and Kathy Adams Beasley of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Pate of Clanton; two stepsons, Davis Pate of Maplesville and Russell Carroll of Clanton; a brother, Gerald Adams of Billingsley; two sisters, Ruby Baker of Hoover and Bobbie Cox of Billingsley; and a granddaughter, Allison Hayes of Jemison.
Gladys Moore Cleveland
Graveside services for Gladys Moore Cleveland, 87, were held on June 13, 2000 at Sandy Chapel Cemetery in Centreville, with Rev. Pete Fancher officiating. A native of Lawley, Ala., Cleveland died on June 11, 2000 at her residence.
A member of Rehobeth Baptist Church, Cleveland is survived by two sons, Oliver Cleveland of Thorsby and George Marvin Cleveland of Selma; six daughters, Annette Morrison of Birmingham, Mary Ann Pratt of Prattville, Dorothy Fancher of Lawley, Edith Jane Smith of Lawley, Maureen Benson of Maplesville and Sharon Creel of Lawley; two brothers, Leroy Moore of Zeblin, Ga., and Jackson Moore of Leesburg, Ga.; two sisters, Louvene Smith of Lawley and Evelyn Cauley of Albany, Ga.; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Billy Glenn Pratt, Kenneth Riley, Alford Posey, Greg Smith, David Benson and Jeremy Benson.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rockco's Funeral Home in Centreville.

Arlo D. Oakland
A memorial service for Arlo D. Oakland, 67, Clanton, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church 2930 County Road 49, Clanton.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 14, at Canton United Methodist Church in Canton, S.D., with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery near Canton, Anderson Funeral Home directing.
Oakland was born on a farm near Canton, S.D., on Dec. 3, 1932, the son of Albert and Rose Buffington Oakland. He attended Canton area school and graduated from Canton High School. he was a retired contractor, a veteran of the U.S. Army, Master Mason of 40 years with the Minnehaha Lodge No. 5, Brother of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Enterprise Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Clanton. He was grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 22 years, Nancy Oakland. He died on Friday, June 9, 2000, at Princeton Medical Center in Birmingham.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Oakland, Clanton; one daughter, Debbie Siemonsma, Spearfish, S.D.; two sons, Doug Oakland, Margate, Fla., and Steve Oakland, Boca Raton, Fla.; two step-children, Mark Hedges, Columbus, Ga., and Kelli Neslund, Pompano Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Lowell Oakland, Canton, S.D., and Andrew Oakland, Fulda Minn.; two sisters, Myrtle Frame, Fairbanks, Iowa, and Alberta Wimsett, Tanger, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two previous wives, Marilyn Jellis and Agnes Schooler; two brothers, Roger and Russell Oakland; and one sister, Sadie Thorson.
