Myrtle Jacks Glenn
Graveside services for Myrtle Jacks Glenn, 82, Phenix City, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Pineview Memory Gardens with Pastor David Johnson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Active pallbearers will include Wayne Glenn, Scott Russell, Dewey Goodwin, John Baker, James Patterson, Jr., and Stephen Patterson.
Glenn died on Thursday, June 29, 2000, at a Columbus, Ga., hospital.
Survivors include three daughters, Wilma Patterson, Selma, Jeanette Corley, Birmingham, and Barbara Goodwin, Roanoke, Va.; one son, Ira W. Glenn, Phenix City; four sisters, Bernice Davis, Dothan, and Frances Lockhart, Johnnie Ruth Cummins, and Jean Johnson, all of Clanton; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Nettie Mae Dick
Graveside services for Nettie Mae Dick, 90, a life-long resident of Chilton County, were held on Sunday, July 2, 2000 at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. Interment followed at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery in Jemison.
Born on Jan. 10, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Azor Hayes and Mary Hayes and was a clerk. She died on June 30, 2000 at Medical center East in Birmingham and was preceded in death by her husband, L.A. Dick and her son, James Nix.
Survivors include three granddaughters, Rhonda Seritt of Cahaba Heights, Rene Kent of Athens, Tenn., and Amy Nix of Birmingham; two grandsons, Russell Nix of Springville and Jason Nix of Birmingham; and four great-grandchildren.
Alice Louise Calfee
Funeral services will be held for Alice Louise Calfee, 87 and a resident of Pensacola, will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church, with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Mulberry Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville.
Born on April 9, 1913 in San Pedro, Calif., Calfee was the daughter of the late William Hodge and Elizabeth Alice Hodge. A homemaker, she died on July 1, 2000 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola.
A loving wife and mother, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Michael E. Palmer of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, William O. "Bill" and Carol Calfee of Milton, Fla.; a grandaughter, Marly C. Carr of Eagle River, Ark.; three grandsons, John Palmer, Shane Calfee and Jimmy Calfee, all of Atlanta; and three great-grandchildren, Eric, Allison and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oscar Calfee.
Houston Kelley
Funeral services for Houston Kelley, 71 and a resident of Clanton, were held on Monday, July 3, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ricky Adams and Rev. Kenneth Northcutt officiating. Interment followed at Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Born on June 4, 1929 in Alabama, he was the son of the late John Kelley and Evelyn Kelley. A foreman for the Chilton County Road Department, he died at his home on July 1, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene A. Kelley (nee' Lorene Adams) of Clanton, three daughters, Betty Mims of Leeds, Shirley Warr of Clanton and Cathy Walker of Clanton; three sisters, Floree Brooks of Clanton, Eulabe Giles of Clanton and Aralee Loomis of Clanton; a brother, Leo Kelley of Clanton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Anthony Bearden
Funeral services for Anthony Redge Bearden, 46, a resident of Bessemer and former resident of Clanton, will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at City of Hope Chapel in Bessemer. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with a short service.
Bearden was born on Nov. 29, 1953 at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, the son of Redge Berton and Betty Crowley Bearden. A butcher by trade, he lived in and around Clanton and Maplesville most of his life, moving to Bessemer in 1995. He died on July 2, 2000 at Cooper Green Hospital in Birmingham.
He is survived by a daughter, Lori Jamea Bearden Shutes; a son, Reginald "Reggie" James Bearden; a son-in-la, Michael Shutes; one grandson, Michael Garrett Shutes; two sisters, Debbie Bearden Fassett and Diane Bearden Champion; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Red Berton and Betty Crowley Bearden; and his grandparents, William Redge and Sally Jo Bearden and Thomas and Louise Horton Crowley.
Slyvia Ezell Pate
Funeral services for Sylvia Ezell Pate, 71, Thorsby, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at 11 a.m., with Gerald Grauel officiating.
Burial will follow at Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby, with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Pate was born on May 8, 1929, in Texas, the daughter of William and Cecelia Mary Ezell. She was a homemaker. She died on July 3, 2000.
Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Pate, Thorsby; two daughters, Juanita Silas, Pinson, and Stephanie Trim, Samson; three sons, Charles Williams, and David Pate, both of Thorsby, and Barry Joseph Pate, Hueytown; one brother, Bill Ezell, Mont.; and two sisters, Mary Melosky, Birmingham, and Agnes C. Harrington, La.
Kevin Dale Williams
Funeral services for Kevin Dale Williams, 21, Clanton, will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church at 2 p.m., with Rev. Roland Davis and Rev. Travis Bussey officiating.
Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home officiating.
Williams was born on Sept. 26, 1978, in Alabama, the son of Gail Williams and the late Billy Joe Williams. He was a truck driver. He died at Russell Hospital in Alexander City on July 3, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Williams, Clanton; one unborn child; his mother, Gail Williams, Clanton; three sisters, Brenda Baker, Karen Popwell, and Donna Maddox, all of Clanton; one grandfather, Rev. H.O. Headley, Clanton; one grandmother, Annie Pearl Williams, Clanton; nine nieces and nephews; and a number of in-laws.
