Julia Hester Hicks
Funeral services for Julia Hester Hicks, 86 and a Cullman resident, were held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000 at Clanton Presbyterian Church, wtih Rev. Lamar Davis and Rev. Hal Oakley officiating. Interment followed at Clanton City Cemetery.
Born on Aug. 2, 1914 in Chilton County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen Hester and the late Beverly Mae Hester. She was employed by the Auburn University Extension Service and died on Aug. 9, 2000 at NHC Health Care in Moulton, Ala.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Thompson of Cullman; her son-in-law, Carey Thompson of Cullman; and her grandson, Second Lieutenant Carey Thompson of Fort Sill, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Lee Hicks.
Jean E. Patterson
Graveside services for Jean E. Patterson, 67 and a resident of Verbena, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000 at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, wtih Elder C.E. Tucker officiating.
Born on Dec. 12, 1932 in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late Levi Elmore and the late Eunice Elmore. A nurse by profession, she died on Aug. 11, 2000 at Baptist Medical Center/Montclair in Birmingham.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Patterson III of Verbena; a daughter, Pam Hinkle of Apple Creek, Ohio; three sons, Earl Frank Patterson of Birmingham, William Charles Patterson of Verbena and Thomas F. Patterson IV of Rossville, Ga.; two sisters, Carolyn Dean of Montgomery and Charlene Jackson of Birmingham; a brother, Milton C. Smith of Birmingham; seven grandchildren and two great-granchildren.
Zadie Halcon Todd
Funeral services for Zadie Halcon Todd, 90 and a resident of Vestavia Hills, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Cecil Little. Interment will follow at Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery in Verbena, and visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.
Born on Dec. 3, 1909 in Chilton County, she was the daughter of the late Ree Madison Bryant and the late Katie C. Bryant. A homemaker, she died on Aug. 11, 2000 at Briarcliff Nursing Home in Alabaster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Todd.
She is survived by three sons, Donnie D. Todd Sr. of Pell City, Billy Frank Todd of Hampton, Ark., and Gerald Todd of Alvin, Texas; a daughter, Helen Jones of Vestavia Hills; a sister, Ludelia Franks of Plains, Ga.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
W.C. Rucker
Graveside services for W.C. Rucker, 68 and a resident of Jackson, Miss., will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville, with Billy Maddox officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home.
Born on Feb. 8, 1932 in Chilton County, he was the son of the late Coy Rucker and the late Melba May Rucker. A heavy equipment operator, he died on Aug. 12, 2000 at University Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rucker, of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Marie Ford of Birmingham and Patricia Arender of Jackson; a son, Huey Smith of Brandon, Miss.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Madison Dewey Dennis
Funeral services for Madison Dewey Dennis, 74 and a resident of Clanton, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home, with Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating. Interment will follow at Samaria Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
Born on March 28, 1926 in Chilton County, he was the son of the late Madison Dewitt Dennis and the late Martha Ann Dennis. A repairman for Firestone, he died on Aug. 13, 2000 in Prattville.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Van Smith of Clanton and Barbara and William Sowell of Prattville; two sisters, Rena Burnett of Thorsby and Elsie Rollan of Prattville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Myrtis Mae Driver
Funeral services for Myrtis Mae Driver, 60 and a resident of Clanton, were held on Monday, aug. 14, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Harlan Harris and Rev. Simon Bussie officiating. Interment followed at Lime Springs Methodist Cemetery in Clanton.
Born on April 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late William Clauden Vines and the late Ida Lee Vines. A homemaker, she died on Aug. 12, 2000 at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Driver of Clanton; three sons, Allen Ray Driver, Bruce Wayne Driver and Steven Lee Driver, all of Clanton; two daughters, Teresa Gail Wilson and Sherry Lynn Johnson, both of Clanton; a brother, William Vines of Clanton; three sisters, Margie Seales of Clanton, Rosie Headley of Clanton and Elizabeth Samples of Dadeville; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Driver.
Annie Gertrude Buckner
Funeral services for Annie Gertrude Buckner, 93 and a resident of Thorsby, were held on Monday, Aug. 14, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Fred Zeigler officiating. Interment followed at Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
Born on Aug. 15, 1906, she was an LPN by profession and died on Aug. 11, 2000 at Hatley Health Care in Clanton.
She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Bukner of Clanton, Susan Ann Kundrat of Hilton Head, S.C., and Patricia Gertrude Robertson of Rocky Mt., Va.; two sons, Robert Eugene Buckner of Sacramento, Calif., and William Howard Buckner of Thorsby; and two sisters, Ola Moore and Mattie Robbins, both of Birmingham.
