George William McNair
George William McNair, 71, died Nov. 11, 1996, at his Hayden residence. The Alabama native was the son of the late John Henry and Martha Boone McNair and husband of Dorothy Power McNair. A U. S. Army veteran of WW II, he was retired in 1987 from Ryder Truck Rentals in Atlanta. Surviving besides his wife are daughter Peggy McNair Lewis, Hayden; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Jack Metzler officiated services Nov. 14 at Lemley Funeral Chapel, with burial at Mauldin Cemetery in Blount County. Pallbearers were Billy Joe Lewis, Scott Wilson (grandson), Craig Hogeland, Tim Wright, Billy Edwards, and Harry Lee Melvin (nephew from Atlanta). This was taken from The Blount Countain Newspaper. Beverly Fordham

Services for Beverly Fordham, 47, of Martinez, Ga., were May 9 at 2 p.m. (EDT) at Elliott Sons Funeral Home in Augusta, Ga., with Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. Burial was in Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Fordham died May 6 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie Fordham; two daughters, Julie Fordham and Emily Fordham; her mother, Doreen McMillon of Jacksonville; three sisters, Carolyn Cornell of Alexander City, Susan Miller of Oxford and Debbie Limerick of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mike Fordham, Josh Miller, Mike Limerick, Eric Barr, Gary Abell and Russ Copeland. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Augusta Rowing Club.
Mrs. Fordham was native of Anniston and had lived in the Augusta area since February 1986. She had worked in the Columbia County School System at Blue Ridge Elementary School. She was a 1971 graduate of Cleburne County High School and a 1979 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in sociology. She was a member of the Augusta Rowing Club and was preceded in death by a son, Ian Fordham, and her father, Richard G. McMillon.
Thelma M. Garmon

Thelma M. Garmon, 76, died Monday at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Sue Drake of Butler, Mo.; a son, James Albert Faulkner of Independence, Mo.; two grandchildren; four nieces,; three nephews; and four primary caregivers, Jean Garmon, Pete Garmon, Phillip Garmon and Nichole Garmon.
Mrs. Garmon was a native of Eureka, Kan., and was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Van Garmon.

Nellie Vise Shew

Services for Nellie Vise Shew, 91, of Webster’s Chapel were Thursday at 2 p.m. at Crestwood Funeral Home in Gadsden, with Dr. Rick Reaves officiating. Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery.
Mrs. Shew died May 7.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Clyde Shew of Webster’s Chapel, Gerald and Judy Shew of Ohatchee and Paul and Judy Shew of Webster’s Chapel; two daughters-in-law, Susie Shew of Bessemer and Joan Shew Reed of Mt. Olive; a sister, Bonnie Couch of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steve Shew, Randall Shew, Clyde Shew, Blake Shew, Lee Shew and Terry Underwood. Honorary pallbearers were her grandson, Barry Williams, and the doctors and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Shew had lived in Webster’s Chapel most of her life and was a member of Webster’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Shew, and two sons, Billy Shew and Claude Shew.
FRANKLIN, Ga.
Services for Wallace Awbrey Bonner, 71, of Franklin, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Harold Bonner and Frank Sledge officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Lines Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Bonner died at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Lavern Freeman Bonner of Franklin; a son, Lamar Bonner of Roanoke; a daughter, Dorothy Ann May of Roanoke; two stepchildren, Phillis Martin and Farron Wilson, both of Leant; two sisters, Virginia Jackson and Lera Pearl Bonner, both of Roanoke; two brothers, Leonard Bonner of Cullman and Gerson Bonner of Roanoke; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Mr. Bonner was born in Randolph County.
He was the son of the late Joseph Whitman Bonner and Mildred Lurlene Whitman Bonner.
He was retired from the maintenance department at Plant Wansley, was an Army veteran and a member of the Bethany Lines Christian Church, Roanoke.

Mrs. Chatman died Monday at Citizens Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Christie died Friday at Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Christie of Anniston; a daughter, Jane C. Bowman of Weaver; two grandchildren, Melissa J. Devlin and Christie D. Snyder; three great-grandchildren, Robert A. Devlin, Jennifer M. Devlin and Gregory Snyder.
Mr. Christie was a member of Alabama League of Savings Association for 25 years, Shine Zamora Temple, Masonic Lodge No. 443, First United Methodist Church and the Acker Sunday School Class.
He was a veteran of World War II.

Graveside services for John Michael O’Brien, 93, of 1716 Marguerite Avenue was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Edgemont Cemetery with Dr. Billy L. Harris officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary & Crematory was in charge.
Mr. O’Brien died Friday at Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include three sons, Pat O’Brien of Alabaster, Tim O’Brien of Powder Springs, Ga., and John O’Brien of Coral Springs, Fl.; two daughters, Erin O. Arsenault of Highpoint, N.C., and Emily Kay O’Brien of Birmingham; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. O’Brien was a resident of Anniston for 45 years and a native of Montgomery.
He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from Alabama Gas Corporation.
