Mr. Johnny Franklin Whigham of Kinston died Friday, May 23, 2003, at his residence after a short illness. He was 82. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 26 at Lowery Church of Christ with Dr. Joe Johnson and Judge David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Lowery Church of Christ Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pittman Funeral Home.

Mildred Price (Tommie) Armstrong of Abbeville died early Thursday night, June 5, 2003, at a Dothan hospital. She was 83. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Elder Ross Plowden officiating. Burial will follow at Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Sybil Hall, 209 Trawick St., Abbeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Enon Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Carolyn Robinson, 200 Dothan Road, Abbeville, Ala. 36310 or Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Mrs. Edna Radney Boyett, a resident of Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003. She was 94. Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-793-1117.

George Shedrick Brown, III, of Huntsville and a former resident of Dothan, died Saturday, May 31, 2003. He was 24. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Arthur Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park

Margaret Payne Canestrari of Enterprise and formerly of Memphis, Tenn., died after an extended illness at her home Friday, June 6, 2003. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Memphis, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 557 Glover Ave., Enterprise, Ala. 36330 or St. Luke United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 201 Heath St., Enterprise, Ala. 36330.

James Cecil Corley of Dothan died Friday morning, June 6, 2003, at his home after an extended illness. He was 81. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with his sons, the Rev. Jim F. Corley and Danny Corley and also the Rev. Ray E. Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of a son, the Rev. Jim F. Corley, 1704 Westover Drive, Dothan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Michael "Shane" Courson of County Road 13, Headland, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003. He was 25. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. at Brocklyn Methodist Church Cemetery in Opp. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302, Spectracare Day Training Program, U.S. 431 South, Abbeville, Ala. 36310, or Milton Road Residential Facility, 2820 Milton Road, Montgomery, Ala. 36110. Shane was born Oct. 20, 1977, in Dothan. He was Baptist by faith.

Mrs. Tom Edd Shirah Driggers of Hartford died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Westside Terrace in Dothan after an extended illness. She was 84. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at Eden Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Mrs. Driggers will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Pittman Funeral Home. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Eden Baptist Church General Fund, c/o Mrs. Judy Cook, P.O. Box 465, Geneva, Ala. 36340.

Mrs. Pam Gill of Ozark died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, in Jacksonville, Fla., due to complications after her organ transplants. She was 44. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Hart and the Rev. Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Holman Funeral Home, 995 South Union Avenue, Ozark. At other times, the family will be at the family residence.

Mr. B.O. Gunter of Andalusia died Friday, June 6, 2003, at his residence. He was 79. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at Red Oak Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Keahey Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gideons.

Infant Sherry Hallford died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, in a Birmingham hospital after a brief illness. She was 3 months old. Funeral arrangements and a list of survivors will be announced by Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-792-4194.

Maxine Mathison Knowles of Broad Street, Newville, died Thursday morning, June 5, 2003, at Westside Terrace in Dothan. She was 96. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Newville Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Shirah and the Rev. Jerry Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Headland. The family will be at the home of a daughter, Joy Parker, 3428 County Road 49, Headland, Ala. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Newville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 13, Newville, Ala. 36353 or to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Mrs. Louise Enfinger McClenny, a resident of Westside Terrace Nursing Home (formerly of the Bay Springs Community) died early Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Westside Terrace after an extended illness. She was 85. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Bay Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Coley M. Holloway and Randy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Mrs. McClenny's body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Bay Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 1721 S. Bay Springs Road, Dothan, Ala. 36305.

Major (retired) Samuel A. Miller, distinguished former Army Aviator, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at 12:25 p.m. after an eight year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was 83. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Smilie Nesbitt officiating and with Masonic Rites to be held in the chapel. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Dr. William L. Mitchell of Enterprise died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. He was 65. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Searcy Funeral Home of Enterprise, 334-347-2517.

Mario Luis Ozomet of South Highway 109 died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was 61. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating.

Lois Copeland Patrick died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Tip Grider, of New Brockton. She was 86. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Keahey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Patrick's name to the memorial fund of First Methodist Church of Andalusia.

Ralph Henry Peterson of Dothan died early Friday morning, June 6, 2003, at his residence. He was 67. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 9 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, June 10 at Franklin Township Cemetery in Fellsburg, Kan. A wake service will be 6 p.m. Sunday at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel. Helen M. Pickron of Westville, Fla., in Holmes County, passed away Friday, June 6, 2003, at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva. She was 70. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at Popplar Head Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Geneva.

Melinda "Kay" Glover Watford of Pace, Fla., passed away early Sunday morning, June 1, 2003, at her home after a brief illness. She was 41. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at First Baptist Church of Level Plains with the Rev. Mike Stokes officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the church sanctuary. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
