Adus Joe Clark of Dothan died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at his residence. He was 82. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Riley Richardson, the Rev. Donald Clark, the Rev. John Christy and the Rev. Dean Allerheiligen officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.

Mr. Paul S. Douglas of Willow Lane, Cottonwood passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003. He was 54. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-793-1117.

John Clarence Hutto of Jacksonville, Fla., a native of Henry County, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at his residence. He was 77. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Old Zion Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. John W. Helton Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until time to depart for the cemetery Friday.

William Cecil Knowles Sr. of Headland died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 5, 2003, in a Dothan hospital. He was 86. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, Ala. 36302 or Alabama Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, Ala. 35236-1767.

Gladys McGlothren of Enterprise died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, in Enterprise. She was 84. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Enterprise with the Rev. Jerry Dooling and the Rev. Sam Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Searcy Funeral Home. Mrs. McGlothren will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.

Mr. John A. Potts of Enterprise died, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Medical Center Enterprise in Enterprise. He was 86. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Searcy Funeral Home of Enterprise, 334-347-2517.

Helen Thomas of Ozark died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, in Ozark. She was 91. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Holman Funeral Home of Ozark, 334-774-5348.

Rhuben Vinson Armstrong of River Street, Columbia, died early Thursday night, Aug. 7, 2003, at a Dothan hospital. He was 81. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Robert Strickland and the Rev. William Cannon officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia Ambulance Rescue Squad, (C.A.R.E.S), P.O. Box 460, Columbia, Ala. 36319.

Louie Dewayne Crooms of Hickory Grove Road, Cottonwood, died early Wednesday evening, Aug. 6, 2003, at Jackson County Convalescent Center in Graceville, Fla. He was 79. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Liberty Baptist Cemetery, in Pansey, with the Rev. Eddie Littlefield officiating.

Charles M. (Nook) Gary of Midland City died early Friday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2003, at Extendicare Hospice Services Facility in Dothan after an extended illness. He was 83. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Midland City Cemetery with the Rev. Gillis Crenshaw Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Holman-Headland Mortuary in Headland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Road, Ozark, Ala. 36360 or to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302 or to the Midland City United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 376, Midland City, Ala. 36350. The family requests the omission of food.

Walter Edward Kincey died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, as a result of an accident. He was 56. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Eddie Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.

Mary Victoria Blanch Hughes Kirkland of the Sylvan Grove community, near Midland City, died early Thursday morning, Aug. 7, 2003, at Ozark Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 95. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Blackwood Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Terriel Andrews, the Rev. James A. Rich and Dr. C.J. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blackwood Congregational Christian Church, c/o Betty Jean Chancey, 2211 County Road 83, South, Headland, Ala. 36345 or to a favorite charity.

Edna Gavin Miller of Phenix City died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Ga. She was 84. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. (EDT) Monday, Aug. 11, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with the Rev. Wayne Ivey officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. (EDT) Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Grady Lee Moody of Samson died Aug. 7, 2003, at Medical Center Enterprise after a brief illness. He was 83. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Pittman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clara Jean Free and the Rev. John Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

John William Bryan and the Rev. Robert Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hayes Funeral Home.

Thomas E. (Gene) Salter of Enterprise passed away, Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Medical Center Enterprise in Enterprise. He was 83. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Park Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cliff Quincey officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Effie Marie Starling Sewell, a resident of St. Andrews Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Dothan, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, after a brief illness. She was 88. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Billy Rich and Bennie Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 423 E. Cottonwood Road, Dothan, Ala. 36301.

Mr. John Marshall Terry of Dothan died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 82. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Dothan with the Rev. Ken Jacobs and the Rev. Michael Woodham officiating. Interment will follow at Cottonwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Other than scheduled visitation times the family will be at the residence of a sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Billie and Doug Arnold, 5681 S. County Road 33, Ashford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in the name of Mr. Terry to Wiregrass Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302 or to a church of your choice.

Myrtice Ludell Martin of Caropines died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at her residence. She was 77. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
