Barry Hutson

TUSCALOOSA - Barry Hutson, 45, of 5203 Henderson Road, died October 19, 2001 at his residence. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Memory Chapel Funeral Home.

Bertha Lee Hall

HAMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Bertha Lee Hall, age 82, of 260 Clinton St. Apt. 202, died October 12, 2001. Services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at Bass Tabernacle C.M.E. in Sawyerville, Ala. Burial will follow in Travis Family Cemetery in Sawyerville with Druid Funeral Service officiating.

Estelle Stine Free

GORDO - Estelle Stine Free, 84, of 759 Garden Drive Apt. C-4, died October 18, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, October 21, 2001 at 2 p.m. Rev Chester Free and Sister Joan Flemming will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove "Bump" Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Skelton Funeral Home. Skelton Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Davis Free; her parents, Harvey F. and Sarah Elizabeth Hamner Stine; and a sister, Octavia Stine Wheat.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Askew and husband Al, of Northport; son Roger Free and wife, Mary Frances Smith of Placentia, Calif.; sister Clister Windham of Gordo; three grandchildren, Angela Harvey Burkhalter (Steve), Memphis, Tenn.; Shannon Harvey Roulston (Nate), Daphne, Ala. and Ellen Elizabeth Free of Studio City, Calif.; four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Free was a member of Pleasant Grove "Bump" Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker and a well-known resident of Pickens County.

Honorary pallbearers are the extended Free and Stine families, friends from Echola and Gordo communities and members of "Bump" Church.

Inez Shackelford Boyett

MILLPORT - Mrs. Inez Shackelford Boyett, age 86, of 34520 Hwy. 17, died October 19, 2001. Services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Christian Chapel Church of Christ , Vernon, Ala. Burial will follow in Christian Chapel Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport directing. Visitation is tonight from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport.

Mary Elizabeth Black

FAYETTE - Mary Elizabeth Black, age 72, of 150 Pistol Rd. died October 19, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directing. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette.

William Leon Vice

NORTHPORT - William Leon Vice, 61, of 5601 Dove Creek Avenue, died October 20, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be tonight from 7-9 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home-Northport. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home-Northport.

Jerry Trimm

SULLIGENT - Jerry Trimm, 53, passed away Friday, October 19, 2001 at the Fayette Medical Center in Fayette, Ala. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 22, at 2 p.m. at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Prospects Cemetery. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Annie C. "Nanny" Shelton

TUSCALOOSA - Annie C. "Nanny" Shelton, age 96, died October 19, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Monday, October 22, 2001 at Shackleford Funeral Home in Collinwood, Tenn. at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Ed Lopp will officiate. Visitation is tonight, from 6-8 p.m. at Shackleford Funeral Home in Collinwood, Tenn. and one hour prior to services.

She is preceded in death by her father J. C. Creecy, mother, Hannah Creecy, husband, Oscar Shelton, daughter Beatrice Shelton and granddaughter Donnis Whaley.

Survivors include daughters Berniece (Loyd) Russell, Tuscaloosa; Reba Whaley, Prattville, Ala. grandchildren, Oscar (Rhonda) Russell and Martha (Randal) Turner of Cottondale; Teresa (Scott) Mayfield of Moundville; Ashley (Chris) Sanford of Millbrook, Ala., and Eric Whaley, Leconia, N.H.; great-grandchildren, Kevin and Lindsey Turner; Mandy and Allison Russell of Cottondale; Kelsey, Taylor and Colby Mayfield of Moundville; Britney and Tiffany Whaley of Laconia, N.H.

Pallbearers will be great nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are neighbors and friends of Peach Grove and the Cottondale Community, Dr. Hinton, Dr. Young and staff of DCH Cancer Center; Dr. McCormack and staff of Internal Medicine; staff of 7 South of DCH; Beth Sims and Seton Home Health Care; Skyland Baptist Church.

Clara E. (Tyler) Rogers

TUSCALOOSA - Clara E. (Tyler) Rogers, 96, of #1 Bealle Circle, died October 19, 2001 at Heritage Health Care Center. Graveside Services will be held today at 2 p.m. Rev. George Jackson is officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jewel O. Rogers; her parents, James Ellis and Amelia Constantine (Atchison) Tyler; daughters, Elma Poer, and Jessie Zeanah; and her son, Melvin (Buddy) Rogers.

Survivors include her sons, James W. Rogers (Billie), Bossier City, La., Jerry M. Rogers (Mary), Snellville, Ga., and Johnny M. Rogers (Mary), Tuscaloosa, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great –grandchild.

Mrs. Rogers was born August 29, 1905 in Bessemer, Alabama to parents James Ellis and Amelia Constantine (Atchison) Tyler.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Holt United Methodist Church, Nurses and Staff of Heritage Health Care Center, Leo and Betty Colburn, Wade and Elsie Holeman, Herman and Mary Beth Jones, Jim and Doris Standifer, and other special Friends and Neighbors of the Holt Community.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Holt United Methodist Church or Favorite Charity.

Inez Needham

CHILDERSBURG - Inez Needham, 87, of 1980 Cosper Road, died October 19, 2001 at Coosa Valley Hospital. Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Tuscaloosa, AL, today at 2 p.m. Brother George Fields will officiate. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at Heritage Chapel today before the graveside services. Heritage Chapel is directing.

William L. (Bill) Jessup

BIRMINGHAM - William L. (Bill) Jessup, 93, of Birmingham, formerly of Sylacauga, died October 19 in Birmingham.

Mr. Jessup was born in Cordele, GA and moved to Dothan, AL as a child. Later, as a student at the University of Alabama, he financed his education by working as the personal secretary to Lee Bidgood, then Dean of the Commerce School. He graduated in 1929. His lifelong love of the University of Alabama led him to serve as president of it's National Alumni Association in 1960 and to later establish the Bill Jessup Endowed Scholarship to benefit students in business studies at his alma mater. Mr. Jessup also attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Mr. Jessup moved to Sylacauga in 1946 to begin his career as an oil jobber for Amoco Oil Company. He later served as president of the Alabama-Mississippi Oil Jobbers Association. He was a long-time member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Sylacauga. He was a former president of the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce and the Sylacauga Rotary Club, and was honored for his Rotary contributions with the Paul Harris Fellow award.

Mr. Jessup lived at Kirkwood-by-the-River in Birmingham for the past eleven years. His wife of 56 years, the former Mollie Cullom Walker of Birmingham, died in 1992.

Mr. Jessup is survived by two children, William W. Jessup of Tuscaloosa and Nancy Jessup Hightower of Athens, AL; four grandchildren, Ann E. Jessup of Birmingham, John W. Jessup of Tuscaloosa, Mollie Hightower Regan of Arlington, VA, and W. Daniel Hightower of Athens; and two great-granddaughters, Caroline and Katherine Jessup of Tuscaloosa. His brother, Joe Lee Jessup, lives in Boca Raton, Florida.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 on Monday, October 22, at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga. Visitation at Curtis and Sons funeral home, located at the Cemetery, will begin at 1:00. Carlton Winton, chaplain at Kirkwood-by-the-River, will preside with Curtis and Sons of Sylacauga, directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the University of Alabama, Bill Jessup Endowed Scholarship (P.O. Box 870122, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487) or to the donor's favorite charity.

Barry Lynn Hutson

TUSCALOOSA - Barry Lynn Hutson, 45, of 5203 Henderson Road, died October 19, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held at Memory Chapel, Monday October 22, 2001 at 11 a.m. Rev. Bernie Deffinger and Rev. Olin Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 7-9 p.m. at Memory Chapel.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Karen Morris and his fa-

ther, Thomas Hutson.

Survivors include his son, Barry Hutson, Jr.; brothers, Larry (Sharon) Hutson, Glen (Darlene) Hutson, and Michael (Glenda) Hutson; mother, Martha Hutson; nieces, nephews and numerous family members.

Pallbearers will be Robby Faulkner, Shaun Faulkner, Dwight Hutson, Bradley Hutson, Jonathan Hutson, and Shawn Lavender.

Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Jones Excavating Co., Warrior Services, RC Transport, Friends and Neighbors of the Holt Community.

Larry Wayne "Cecil" Elrod

REFORM - Larry Wayne "Cecil" Elrod, 52, of 807 Langdon Road, died October 19, 2001 in Ethelsville, Ala. Services will be held at Ethelsville Baptist Church, Monday October 22, 2001 at 2 p.m. Rev. Jim Ray will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 at Skelton Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter, Tracy Johnson and husband, Arnie, Columbus, Miss.; son, Justin Elrod and wife, Misty, Reform, Ala.; sister, Yuvone Bradshaw and husband, Charles, Ethelsville, Ala.; brothers, James Elrod and wife, Carolyn, Ethelsville, and James Elrod, Ethelsville; grandchildren, Morgan, Megan, Scott, and Jordan Johnson, and Justina Whitney Elrod.

Mr. Elrod was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, a self employed Auto Body Technician and a life long resident of Pickens County.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Elrod, Josh Elrod, Greg McCafferty, Chuck Bradshaw, Paul Agerton, and Bobbie Pate.

Honorary pallbearers are Dwight Fitch, Gary Golson, Tony Cowart, Jerry Fitch, and Herbert Latham.

Herbert Clark

TUSCALOOSA - Herbert Clark, 72, of 4728 30th Avenue East, died October 18, 2001 at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday-October 22, 2001 at 11 a.m. from Rollins' Mortuary Chapel. Rev. J.L. Simpson will officiate. Burial will follow in West Highland Cemetery with Rollins Mortuary directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 p.m. in Rollins' Mortuary Chapel.
