BERRY - Gladys Mae McCaskey, 66, died October 26, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held at Salem Baptist Church today at 2 p.m. Rev. Joe Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Boone Cemetery. Magnolia Chapel-Northport is directing.
Survivors include her sons, Donald F. Horne (Judy), Northport, Walter L. Horne (Rebecca), Cottondale, Robert E. Horne (Kathy), Tuscaloosa, and Daniel W. Horne (Joyce), Berry; grandchildren, Joey Horne (Michelle), Robert L. Horne (Brandy), Walter D. Horne, Richard Horne, Bonnie Grammer (Michael), Amanda L. Horne, and Ashley Horne; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joey Horne, Robert L. Horne, Walter D. Horne, Ricky Horne, Michael Grammer, and Seth LaFoy.

VERNON - Mr. Jeffery Dunn, 20, of 33 Bryant Road, died October 26, 2001 on Hwy. 17 S. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Vernon, Ala, Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Lamar Memorial Gardens, Vernon Visitation will be today after 1 p.m. at the family home. Dowdle Funeral Home, Millport is directing.
Doris Ruth Breland
MARION - Doris Ruth Breland, 72, died October 26, 2001 at UAB Hospital. Services will be held at Mt. Ivah Bible Methodist Church Monday, at 2 p.m. Rev Arthur Marchant, and Rev. Robert Woodard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Kirk Funeral Homes in Marion.
She is preceded in death by her brother, John Brady Stevens.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Spencer Breland, Marion; and her sister, Vera Lois Colburn, Marion.
Pallbearers will be William Hill, John Ingram, Bobby Averett, Phillip Clements, Wendell Barnett, and Rayburn Breland.
Robert Stevenson Allen
NORTHPORT - Robert Stevenson Allen, 59, died October 26, 2001 at his residence. Visitation will be today at 2 p.m. at Saint Mark United Methodist Church. Funeral will follow at 3 p.m. The Reverend Sam Hardie III will officiate. Burial will follow at Williamson Cemetery.
Steve is survived by his wife, Trudi White Allen, son, Robert Scott Allen and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; parents Oscar and Dot Allen of Jackson, Alabama; brother, Terry Allen and his wife Mary Ellen of Leroy, Alabama; and his in-laws Frank and Hannah White and Doug and Anne Latham of Coffeeville, AL; Happy and Ann White of Jackson, AL; and Bruce and Judy Martin of Pensacola, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Steve was a graduate of the University of Alabama and Air Force veteran. He was a loving father and husband and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Steve worked in the insurance business, international trade, outpatient rehabilitation, real estate development and construction industry. He was an active member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church and was an active participant in the Alabama Walk to Emmaus. Steve took pride in his cooking and enjoyed gardening, planting, and spending time with his many friends. He was a long-term survivor of cancer and loved to share his story with others in their time of need. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Judge Paul Conger, Michael McCauley, Paul Ray, Jay Anderson, Mickey Smith, Rodger Anders, Scott Mettee, and C.R. Brat Jamison.
Norva Ree Yeager
CENTREVILLE - Norva Ree Yeager, 73, died October 27, 2001, at Bibb Medical Nursing Home. Services will be held Tuesday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pondville Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the chapel. Rockco's Funeral Home of Centreville is directing.

COKER - Ruby E. Thomas, 87, of 405 Old Columbus Road, died October 28, 2001 at Heritage Health Care Center. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel Northport. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport.
Charles Jackson Terry
MOBILE - Charles Jackson (Jack) Terry, a native of Uniontown, Alabama and a resident of Mobile for the past twenty-seven years died Sunday, October 28, 2001, after a long battle with cancer.
A graduate of the University of Alabama, Terry began a career in construction in 1969 with Vulcan Materials Company in Birmingham. In 1975, Terry came to Mobile with the Associated General Contractors of America, where he served as Executive Vice President through 1988. In 1989, Terry began a career in insurance with International Assurance, Inc. Until his death, he served as Vice President of the agency. Terry served as a Trustee of the AFL-AGC Pension and Welfare Plans from 1983-2001, and was serving as Chairman of the Board at the time of his death.
A member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Uniontown, Terry attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church In Mobile. He was a member of several social organizations including The Country Club of Mobile, The Birmingham Bachelors Club, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, The Slopes Plantation Hunting Club, and various Mardi Gras Organizations
He was preceded is death by his parents; Hilliard Richardson Terry, Nancy DeVere Terry.
Terry is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Martha Roton Terry, a son, Caldwell Rogers Terry of Tuscaloosa, a daughter, Ann Davidson Terry of Mobile, a sister, Overton Terry Gibson of Selma, one nephew, Emory Terry Gibson of Huntsville, and one niece, Overton DeVere Gibson of Tuscaloosa. He also leaves three devoted pets, Hunter, Shadow, and CC.
Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5 PM to 7 PM at Radney Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Uniontown, Alabama on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Holy Cross Episcopal Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, the American Cancer Society, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Lavenia Acker Etheridge
TUSCALOOSA - Lavenia Acker Etheridge (Beanie), 74, died peacefully in her sleep on October 27th, 2001. Mrs. Etheridge was born on October 26th, 1927 in Pickens County, Alabama. In 1948 she married her late husband, Walter Columbus Etheridge, and they lived together in Tuscaloosa for over fifty years. She was a member of South Highland Baptist Church. She and her late husband were proud parents and spent numerous hours in youth activities. Beanie was a devoted wife and loving mother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her three daughters, Brenda Harris and husband Ray, Donna Ross and husband Ernie, Kay Brown and husband Reid, and son Rod Etheridge and wife Beverly, sisters, Kathleen Kilgore, Sarah Hanson and Ruth McDaniel, brothers, Frank and Billy Acker, grandsons, Brad Holleman, Jonathan Ross and Ben Brown, granddaughters, Emily Brown, Melanie Ross and Ashley Brown , and step-grandchildren, Melissa and Will Rose and Keith, Bruce and Allison Harris.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 30th at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with the Reverend Kerry Payne officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, October 29th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Heritage Chapel. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Margaret Sinclair Turner
DEMOPOLIS - Margaret Sinclair Turner, age 89, of 902 South Walnut Street, died October 28, 2001, at her residence. Services will be held 10 a.m. today, Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Canon Jervis Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Gwyn Collins Turner, Demopolis, nephews, Joseph Collins Penrith (Martha) Turner, Demopolis and David Penrith (Barbara) Turner, Demopolis; niece, Margaret Penrith Turner (John) Coleman; one great-nephew, John Hightower (Ashley) Turner; great-nieces, Hannah Sinclair Turner (John) Laney, Sarah Chandler Turner (Luke) Hallmark, Emily Collins Turner, Elizabeth Collins Coleman and Laura Wilbanks Coleman, great great-niece, Frances St. John Nix Laney; great great-nephew Andrew Parker Hallmark.
Margaret Sinclair Turner, the only daughter of Thomas John and Hannah Penrith Sinclair Turner who removed from England at the turn of the century, was born in Marked Tree, Arkansas, on March 15, 1912. Receiving a BS degree from Memphis State College in 1935, Margaret also studied music under Boling-Muser.
The Turner family moved to Demopolis in the 1930's when T. J. Turner established Demopolis Hickory Mill. After serving as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, 1942-45, Margaret returned to Demopolis as office manager for the family business until it sold in 1987. In the 1950's she was elected to serve a term on the Demopolis City Council. A long-time member and director of Trinity Episcopal Choir, Margaret was also active in the Music Study Club and the Reading Club. She was an avid golfer who excelled in local tournaments.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Collins Penrith Turner, David Penrith Turner, John Wilbanks Coleman, John Hightower Turner, John Fitzgerald Laney and Luther Parker Hallmark.
James W. Tipton
COLUMBUS, Miss. - James W. Tipton, age 78, of 612 Forrest Blvd., died October 29, 2001, at the Care Center of Vernon in Vernon. Services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Lamar County with Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport directing. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Ruby E. Thomas
COKER - Ruby E. Thomas, age 87, died October 28, 2001, at Heritage Health Care Center. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. today, Coker Cemetery with Rev. Alton Bridges and Rev. Charles Herron officiating. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home in Northport will direct.
She was preceded in death by husband, Findley O. Thomas; son, James R. (Bobby) Thomas; brothers, Artist, Tommy and J. V. Hamner; parents, Effie and John Hamner.
She is survived by daughters, Peggy McKinght (Ross), Coker, Bland Strickland (Bud), Coker, Nell Fair (Mack) Coker and Betty Pierce, Cottondale; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Martha Pilkerton, Dean Mills, Eula Burkhalter, Senior Sunday School Class of Coker United Methodist Church, nurses and aides of Heritage Health Care Center, Rev. George Jackson, Rev. Carl Dockery, Dr. Thomas McDermott, Dr. Ronald McCormack and friends of Coker Community.

MOUNDVILLE - Grover Simmons, 85, of Moundville Nursing Home, died October 28, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakhill Funeral Home. Rev. Ralph Lowery will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Oakhill Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Floretta Poole Simmons, daughter, Mary Loretta Dean and son, William Grover Simmons.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Ann Porter, Moundville; sons, Tommy Simmons (Lynette), Moundville; Robert Simmons (Carolyn), Houston, Tx.; Tony Simmons (Gwen), Nacogdoches, Tx.; Doug Simmons, Moundville; and Gilbert Simmons, Tuscaloosa; sisters, Hazel Hamm (Cooledge), Tuscaloosa; Unzell Cornelison, Albertville; brother, Chester Simmons, Alexander City; 20 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 9 great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Nelson, Ralph Newton, Tommy Clanton, Tim Porter, Bobby Watkins, Johnathon Pope, Travis Pope, and Chris Abernathy.
Honorary pallbearers are employees of Moundville Nursing Home, and Dr. Larry Skelton.

TUSCALOOSA - Rhea Louise Savage, age 85, died October 28, 2001, at Northport Health Services. Graveside services will be held November 5, 2001 in Green field, Mass. Memory Chapel Funeral Home will be handling local arrangements. A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 p.m., November 9 at the residence of the deceased in Tuscaloosa.
