COLUMBIA, S.C. - Lawrence Hogan "Blue" Partrich, age 90, formerly of Tuscaloosa, died November 10, 2001. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Memory Hill Gardens with Rev. John W. Tatum officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home will assist the family. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
His wife, Verna Mae Pearson Partrich; brothers, Everette Partrich and Alberta Patrich and sister, Julia Partrich, preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter, Martha Partrich Johnston and husband Henry of Cowarts, Ala.; son, Walter Larry Partrich and wife Barbara of Columbia, S.C.; sister, Marjean Ashburn of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Maurice of Gainesville, Fla., and J. B of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren Walter Partrich, Paul Partrich and wife, Becky, Chris Partrich and wife Kim all of Columbia, S.C., Henry Johnston Jr. and wife Holly of Houston, Texas, Gary Johnston of Atlanta, Ga., Stephanie Johnston Tresch and husband Dan of Arlington, Texas; great-grandchildren Lawrence Partrich, Chaney Partrich, Emily Partrich, Cameron Partrich, Conner Johnston, Savannah Johnston, Brooke Tresch, Amber Tresch and Cade Tresch.
Mr. Partrich was born in 1911, in the Romulus community, the son of Henry Lee and Mattie Ray Partrich. He lived in the Northport and Tuscaloosa areas most of his life and was formerly co-owner manager of Thomas Jewelry Company, and also operated other local businesses. Mr. Partrich was past president of the Cattleman’s Association in Alabama, Mason and a member of the Northport Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be the six grandchildren.

McCALLA - Clarence Harvey Boyd, 38, died September 23, 2001, at Jim Walter #5 Mines. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday November 16 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Hyche officiating and Music by Linda Herring and Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Big Hurricane Baptist Church. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. He is preceded in death by his father William Charles Boyd and brother, David Earl Boyd.
Survivors include his wife Teresa Hyche Boyd of McCalla; daughter, Ashlyn Boyd of McCalla; sons, Matthew Boyd and Chace Boyd of McCalla and Seth Stinnett of Athens, Ala.; sister, Donna Bivona; brothers, Danny Boyd, Billy Boyd, Eddie Boyd, Mike Boyd; parent, Dorothy Boyd Watkins; nieces and nephews.

Marcus C. (Bill) Hitt
TUSCALOOSA - Marcus C. (Bill) Hitt, 94, 11 Hackberry Circle, died November 12, 2001 at the home of his daughter. Services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev Duncan Hunter and Rev. Ken Dunnivant officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, graveside at 2:00 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour before graveside. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by Grand daughter, Chanda Fehler and Great-Grandson, Carson Sherrill.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Annie Earle Land Hitt, Tuscaloosa; daughter, Dorothy Hitt Winters, Tuscaloosa; brothers Rev. Travis Hitt, Luvern, Ala., J.P. Hitt, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Allison Sherrill, Tuscaloosa, Ernest Fehler, Birmingham, Kristin O'Conner, Birmingham; five great-grandchildren.
He was born in Sumter County, Ala., on January 19, 1907. He was a Member of the 102nd Infantry Division serving in World War II. He owned and operated several restaurants in the Tuscaloosa area; upon returning from the war, he opened City Café in Northport. He loved the woods and spent many happy hours hunting. He was a member of American Legion Post 123 and a long time member of First united Methodist Church, Tuscaloosa. He was Secretary and Treasurer of the Bill Brandon Sunday School Class for more than 20 years and was on the administrative board of the church.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Fehler, Robert Sherrill, Connor Sherrill, Darrell O'Conner, Charles Land, Oliver Hitt and Horace Lynn Hitt.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Kenneth McLendon, Susan McLendon, neighbors in Hackberry Circle, members of the Brandon Amaranth Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Juanita Riggs of Roderfield, W. Va., and one sister, Betty Mere of Columbus, Ohio.
Survivors include his spouse, Betty Riggs, Cottondale; daughter, Mrs. Steven "JoAnna" Monroe, Muscle Shoals, Ala.; brothers, Bobby, Jackie, and Bill Riggs, all of Roderfield, W. Va.; grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Anna Marie and Nathan Monroe.

Doris Jean Gay Brackner
BROOKWOOD - Doris Brackner went to be with Jesus November 14, 2001. She was our mother, granny, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed. She was the sunshine of our lives. She retired from Partlow State School where she worked as a LPN and court monitor. She was a member of Big Hurricane Baptist Church. We celebrate her life. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her love and kindness.

TUSCALOOSA - Carrie Harris Loper, 88, died November 15, 2001. Graveside services will be held from Tuscaloosa Memorial Park today at 3:00 p.m. with Ken Dunavant and Duncan Hunter officiating and Heritage Funeral Home directing. Visitation is today from 2:00- 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Kermit Loper.
Survivors include her sons, Eugene Loper (Martha), Green sboro, N.C., Gary Loper (Nancy), Opelika; grandchildren, Laura Loper Griggs, Richmond, Va., Sara Loper Matthews, Richmond, Va., Carrie Loper Bryant, Charlotte, N.C., Robert Loper, New York City, Tally Loper Shanley, Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Loper is also survived by four great grandchildren.
For many years Mrs. Loper was a nurse at the V.A. Hospital, Tuscaloosa. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.

He is precede in death by his parents, Benjamin and Icie Elmore; brother, Benjamin Elmore; infant son, Joseph Elmore.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Floyd Elmore, Gordo; daughter, Teresa Wilson, Gordo; Sons, Lewis Elmore (Marilyn) and Charles Elmore (Robin) both of Gordo; sisters, Lucille Blakeney, Gordo, Annie Elmore, Northport; brothers, Marvin Elmore, Gordo, Grady Elmore, Northport; grandchildren, Jill Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Laurel Elmore, Carly Elmore, all of Gordo; one great grandchild, Megan Sullivan, Gordo.
Mr. Elmore was a retires employee of Southern Natural Gas, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a well know resident of Pickens County.
