Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. His grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Velo J. Davis and Mr. & Mrs. Lewis F. Ball precede him in death.

William Bethel Wilson
ATHENS - William Bethel Wilson, age 84 of Athens, died Tuesday afternoon at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Selma, Alabama moving to Tuscaloosa at an early age and had been a resident of Athens for fifty-four years. He was the son of the late Dr. John W. and Helen Meredith Wilson. He was a member of Mars Hill Presbyterian Church. He attended the University of Alabama and was an active member of Kappa Alpha Order. His younger friends affectionately knew him as "Bama". He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was a life insurance agent with Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S. for the past forty-four years and was a life member of the Million-Dollar Round Table, active in the Life Underwriters Association for many years. He was a member of Equitable Hall of Fame. He was former President and Campaign manager for McMinn County United Way. He was a former member of the Athens Kiwanis Club and served on the Board of the YMCA and the Athens Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Spivey Wilson of Athens; one son and daughter-in-law, William B. Jr., and Jean Carmichael Wilson of Lookout Mountain, TN; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy W. and Boyce Norris of Atlanta; one granddaughter, Caroline Wilson Boswell and her husband, Ross Boswell of Memphis; one grandson, James Harwood Wilson of Lookout Mountain, TN; and one sister, Helen W. Partridge of Demopolis, AL.
Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday at Mars Hill Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bud Little officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. CST at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro, AL. The body will be in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Thursday where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum, P. O. Box 889, Athens, TN 37371-0889 or to Mars Hill Presbyterian Church, 205 North Jackson Street, Athens, TN 37303.

Pearl Land McAlister
TUSCALOOSA - Pearl Land McAlister, age 85, a resident of Tuscaloosa for many years, passed away November 27, 2001, in Atlanta, Georgia.
She entered the teaching field later in life after graduating from the University of Alabama, Department of Education. She was a dedicated teacher of fourth graders within the Tuscaloosa public school system and gained a lot of satisfaction from working with the children.
Mrs. McAlister was born in Ethelsville, Alabama, on August 4, 1916.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, along with her husband, Oliver McAlister, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Besides her educational achievements, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she will be missed. Her love and inspiration to her family helped them to grow and reach for new heights.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosaland Hughes, of Atlanta; her granddaughter, Jennifer Meyer, her husband Kevin Meyer and great-grandson, Nicholas Oliver Meyer, all of Atlanta; a sister, Annie Earle Hitt, of Tuscaloosa; a niece, Dot Winters, and nephews Billy Barnes and Charles Land of Tuscaloosa; and a nephew, Davis McAlister, of San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 30, 2001, in Tuscaloosa with Heritage Chapel directing.
Visitation and viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Heritage Chapel and a graveside service will be at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, next to Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. Bruce Chesser will officiate. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the service.
Pallbearers will be her neighbors, Leland Burroughs and Alston West; her nephew, Charles Land; and Kevin Meyer.
To honor her dedication to education, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the College of Education of The University of Alabama, Box 870231, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0231.

His mother, Sara Pauline Hall, his father, Verner Jennings Hall, and his sister, Eunice Patrick of Tulsa, OK, precede him in death.

Willie “Bud” Daniel Jackson
SALISBURY - Willie "Bud" Daniel Jackson, 70, formerly of Tuscaloosa, died Tuesday, November 27, 2001, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. Born in Selma, he was the son of the late Darling Rogers Jackson and Sylvester Jackson, Jr.
He professed Christ at an early age at the Green Street Baptist Church in Selma. Mr. Jackson served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1955. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct, and Army Occupational Medal (Germany). Prior to moving to Salisbury he retired from Five Star Food Service in Tuscaloosa.
He leaves fond memories with two sisters and one brother-in-law, Winona and Wilbert Murray and Carolyn McCrary, all of Cleveland, OH, one sister-in-law, Barbara Jackson of Salisbury, and one uncle and his wife, Willie and Dorothy Jackson of Selma. He also leaves five nephews, Michael Murray of Houston, TX, Christopher (Angela) Murray of Cleveland, Dante’ Jackson of Salisbury, Dana (Eva) Jackson of Mitchellville, Md., and DeWayne Jackson of Woodbridge, Va.; four nieces, Debbie Bragg of Silver Spring, Md., Dawn Jackson of Upper Marlboro, Md., Vivan Wells and Wyleeia McCrary, both of Cleveland; three great nephews, five great nieces, two great-great nephews, one great- great niece, and other friends. One brother, Sylvester Jackson, Jr., has preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home on 1618 West Road in Salisbury. Family and friends may call one hour prior to service. Rev. Jesse Abbott will officiate. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
