Elizabeth Moore

NORTHPORT – Elizabeth Moore, 64, 1905 Hudson Bay Drive, died Jan. 28, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home in Northport on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport is directing.

Yvonne Latham Young

TUSCALOOSA – Yvonne Latham Young, 61, died Jan. 27, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held at Kirk Funeral Homes Chapel of Green sboro on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Brad Bridges officiating. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown. Visitation is tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. Kirk Funeral Homes in Green sboro is directing.

She is survived by her daughter, Susie Tidmore (Michael) of Tuscaloosa; seven sisters, Wilma Rutledge of Uniontown, Dean Elliott (David) of Uniontown, Natha Duncan of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Jeanette McHaney (Max) of Shalimar, Fla., Merle Pigg (James) of Jackson, Miss., Clodean Fluker (David Jr.) of Uniontown, Shirlyn Sherridan (Ed) of Uniontown; two brothers, Brack Latham (Polley) of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Merdith Latham (Sarah) of Selma; mother, Ethel Latham of Uniontown; two grandchildren, Ashley McCaleb (Barry) of Tuscaloosa and Shelley Tidmore of Tuscaloosa; and one great-grandchild, Sara Howell of Abilene, Tex.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Hannah, Bill Tate, Clyde Ballard, Kirk Latham, Terry Latham and Pete Hannah.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Albert White and Anna White, Alice Shook and the staff at Medical Associates of West Alabama.

William Tyrus Poole Williamson

FAYETTE - William Tyrus Poole Williamson, age 84, of 430 2nd Avenue SE died January 01, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Greg Barker will officiate. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens. Visitation is this morning from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette is directing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Poole and Mamie Winford Collins Williamson.

Survivors include daughter Sara Margaret Jeffries, Fayette; sons, John Richard Williamson, Goode, Va.; William Cary Williamson, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Linda W. Engle, Fayette; 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

For many years he owned and operated a grocery store. He then was employed by the Post Office, Vick Oil Company, and finally retired from Branyon Oil Company in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Frances Gardner

TUSCALOOSA - Frances Gardner, age 84, of 3828 Willow Lane, died January 1, 2002, in DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Lorenzo James will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Cemetery with Rollins’ Mortuary directing. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time.

Robert E. Boozer

LINDEN - Robert E. Boozer, age 92, 608 North Main Street, died January 3, 2002, Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Thomaston Cemetery. Rev. Randall Mims will officiate and Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis will assist the family. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Lewis boozer.

Survivors include daughter, Charlotte Fowler, Pensacola; son, Robert (Rusty) Boozer (Cindy), Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Maude B. Johnson, Neptune Beach, Fla., and Thelma B. Glass, Thomaston; brother-in-law, George B. (Tinsey) Lewis, Mobile; sisters-in-law, Frances Hale Boozer, Thomaston and Lois Lewis, Linden; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Hugo, Ala., and a resident of Linden. He was a self-employed cattle farmer and member of the Thomaston Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Robert Truss, Kendall Wilson, John Wilson, Clyde Boozer, Jr., James Leonard Pritchett, George Pritchett, Wayne Stokes and John Stokes.

Terry Lee Cabbil, Jr.

NORTHPORT - Terry Lee Cabbil, Jr., died January 5, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Wills' Funeral Service.

Edward C. Wilson

TUSCALOOSA - Edward C. Wilson, 73, died Jan. 28, 2001, at VA Medical Center. Final arrangements will be announced at a later date by Wills' Funeral Service.

Thelma Elizabeth Still Swann

TUSCALOOSA - Thelma Elizabeth Still Swann died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Forest Manor Nursing Home.

She is survived by her nieces, Martha Still Rogers (Tom) of Tuscaloosa and Bettye Still Smith (Joe) of Coventry, Conn.

Graveside services were held on Jan. 27 at Fairview Cemetery in Valley.

Memorials are suggested to Fairfax First Christian Church, 302 Boulevard, Valley, AL 36854.

Oliver Doyle "Doc" Smith

PETERSON - Oliver Doyle "Doc" Smith, age 86, died January 7, 2002, at his residence. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Bro. Jim Roberts officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Smith.

Survivors include daughter, Carolyn Wilson (Jimmy), Andalusia; sons, David Smith (Betty) Tuscaloosa and James Smith (Mary) Northport; sisters, Betty Jean Shirley, Gordo, Jennie Kunter, Boise, Idaho, Jean Hosmer, Fla.,; brother, Thomas Smith, Peterson; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lois Swann Smith

TUSCALOOSA - Lois Swann Smith, 72, was called to rest safely in the arms of our Savior on Jan. 29, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Memory Hill Gardens with Dr. Ken Chapman, the Rev. Ricky Swann and the Rev. Dennis Avery officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome F. Smith, USNE 8, retired; and parents, the Rev. E.V. (Doc) and Elsie Kizziah Swann.

Survivors include brother, Howard Victor Swann; sister-in-law, Cynthia Little; brothers-in-law, Larry DeVone Smith and Leon Smith; niece, Vicki Avery; nephew, Ricky Swann; and other nieces and nephews by marriage.

She had a BA degree in art. She was an artist and writer. She won awards in Canada, New York and Texas. She was also an art teacher and wrote for a paper in Newfoundland, Canada. She was affiliated with many clubs and organizations. She was presently a member of Victorious Life Church in Foster s, Ala.

Honorary pallbearers are "Special Friends," Jim and Cindy Gillilland, the Rev. and Mrs. Benny Hayes, the Rev. AV and Helen Boyd, the Rev. Lonnie and Inez Carnegie, George and Melissa Fields, Maxine Clinton, Gene and Ann Kirk, Louise Daily, Willard Oglesby, Charles and Martha Nell Posey, Louise Wilson, all employees at Gambro Dialysis Center, and a host of relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kidney Foundations or the Heart Association.

James Oliver Tate

FORKLAND - James Oliver Tate, 86, died Jan. 29, 2001, at Northport Medical Center. Graveside services are today at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Forkland Cemetery. Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors, Demopolis, is in charge of arrangements.

J. Olene Townsend

TUSCALOOSA - J. Olene Townsend, 73, 1203 27th St., died Jan. 29, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be at Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is Saturday at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

Stephen R. "Steve" Gann

NORTHPORT - Stephen R. "Steve" Gann, 49, died January 7, 2002. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Sunset Funeral Home.

Sandra Faye Hunter

BRENT - Sandra Faye Hunter, 470 Martin Luther King Drive, died December 28, 2001, at her residence. Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at Mt. Ebell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Duff Cemetery with Cahaba Memorial Funeral Home Chapel of Brent directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8.

Sheryl E. Keene McKenzie

NORTHPORT - Sheryl E. Keene McKenzie, age 55, of 12874 Layfatte Street, died January 3, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Mr. Robert Howton officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home.

She is survived by daughters, Cindy Reed (Shannon), Rachelle McKenzie, Melissa Cannon (Sean), Amy McKenzie, all of Tuscaloosa; special sister, Virginia Overstreet (Jerry); brothers, Wilbur Keene, Jr., Kenneth Ray Keene, William Gaither, Jeffrey Grey all of Tuscaloosa; parents, Lottis Gaither and the late Wilbur Keene; grandchildren, Jamie Barger, Josh Barger, Jacob Laycock, Jonah Warren, Julie Brown, Jordan McKenzie, Joey Cannon and Justin Reed.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Reed, Sean Cannon, Ron Duckworth, Keith Marcum, Jeff Gray and Ricky Blake.

Honorary pallbearers are the devoted staff and carriers of The Tuscaloosa News.

Christine Akers

GUIN - Chistine Akers, age 84 of Guin, Alabama died Monday, January 7, 2002. Services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel with burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Norwood Funeral Home of Guin, Alabama Directing.

E. Alan Gustin

MERIDIAN, Miss. - E. Alan Gustin, died Jan. 28, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Barham Chapel, Meridian, Miss., with the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 5-8 at the funeral home. Barham Funeral Home is directing.

Mr. Gustin was former owner of Majestic Millworks.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Daniel Gustin.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Gustin, Meridian; daughter, Becky Clevenger and her husband, Robbie, Loudon, Tenn.; step son, Charles Iseke, Meridian; grandchild, Cody Clevenger, Loudon, Tenn.; parents, Mavis and Herbert Gustin, Meridian; sister, Vi Stinnette and her husband, Charles, Meridian, Miss.; nephew, Todd Stinnette, Gautier, Miss.; Very Special Lifelong Friend, Mike Robinson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Mike Robinson, Charles Iseke, Todd Stinnette, Robbie Clevenger, Nick Millich, Jeremy Millich, Luke Smith, Herbert Joyner and Chris Smith.
