Gene T. Greene

FORKLAND - Gene T. "Bubba" Greene, 61, died Jan. 29, 2001, at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at Forkland Cemetery with Jimmy Phillips officiating. Visitation is tonight from 6:30 to 8. Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis is directing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Ralph Greene, and a brother, John G. Greene.

He is survived by a sister, Betty G. Allen (Rodney) of Demopolis; nieces, Liz Donaldson (Mark) of Fultondale, Wendy Dement (Leland) of Gardendale and Amy Allen of Atlanta, Ga.; great-nieces, Jamie Powell, Misty Williams and Ashleigh Williams; great-nephews, Matt Donaldson, Kaleb Donaldson and Blake Donaldson.

Mr. Greene was a native of Forkland and was retired from Alabama Power Co. as a security guard at the Greene County Steam Plant. He was a member of Forkland Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Cross, Morris Allen, Gerald Allen, Gary Phillips, Tommy Kimbrell and Ray McCarter.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852-9813.

Curtiss Allen Fields

NORTHPORT - Curtiss Allen Fields, 85, Forest Manor Nursing Home, died Jan. 29, 2001. Graveside services will be at Memorial Park on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the residence of Bo Fields, 1801 Clear Lake, Northport. Magnolia Chapel of Northport is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Samuel Fields Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Frances Fields Means (Jim); son, Samuel Barton "Bo" Fields (Ann Marie); sisters, Sue Allen Pike, Lillian Allen Findley and Elizabeth Allen Gamble; grandchildren, Kim Fields Huffman, Leah Fields Ozment (Tom), Mary Harmon Salter and Stephanie Fields White (Kenny); and great-grandchildren, Ashley Aliese Huffman, Phillip Alexander Huffman and Sally Faulkner Ozment.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the RISE Program or Calvary Baptist Church.

Amanda Leigh Driver

GORDO - On December 26, 1976 an angel was born and she was called home to sing with the angels in Heaven on January 10, 2002.

Amanda Leigh Driver, 25, 260 Skyland Drive, died January 10, 2002 at UAB Medical Center, Birmingham. Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from Elmore Center Methodist Church with Rev. Melvin Mordecai and Rev. Wayne Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation is tonight from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Sam Duckworth of Reform.

Survivors include her sister, Kelly Pate and husband Jonathan of Gordo; parents, Mike and Marilyn Driver of Gordo; grandparents, Robert and Ronnie Driver of Gordo, Ruth Duckworth of Reform; number of aunts and uncles.

Amanda was a member of the Elmore Center United Methodist Church, a graduate of the Alabama School for the Blind in Talladega and a well known and loved resident of Gordo.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Elmore, Luke Elmore, Jamey Albright, Mitch Dyer, T.J. Duckworth, Brian Duckworth, Jeffrey Campbell, Wayne Cooper, Ken Elmore, Jimmy Fair and Sonny Byars.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Alabama School for the Blind, P.O. Box 698, Talladega, AL 35161 in Memory of Amanda Driver.

Samuel H. Harper

TUSCALOOSA - Samuel H. Harper, died Jan. 29, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Complete arrangements will be announced at a later date by Heritage Chapel of Tuscaloosa.

Terry Lee Cabbil, Jr.

NORTHPORT - Terry Lee Cabbil, Jr., 21, died January 5, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon from 19th Street Pentecostal Rapture Church, Bishop Johnny K. Stewart, Pastor and Pastor Hazell Salvage officiating. Burial will follow in Cassimore Cemetery, Green sboro with Wills' Funeral Service, Inc. directing. Visitation is today at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.

Janie Claire Jones

NORTHPORT - Janie Claire Jones, 72, 2445 Meadow Lark Lane, died Jan. 28, 2001, at Estes North Nursing Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Complete funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by the funeral home.

Dorothea Nell Douglas

SULLIGENT - Dorothea Nell Douglas, 73, died Jan. 28, 2001. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church will burial in the Pope Cemetery. Norwood Funeral Home of Sulligent is directing.

Steve F. Junkin

GORDO - Steve F. Junkin, 42, 517 Ridgefield Drive, died Jan. 28, 2001, at Northport Medial Center. Services will be at Gordo First United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rusty Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Old Corrs Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.

Survivors include his wife, Rene' Junkin, Gordo, Ala.; two sons, Logan Junkin and Graham Junkin, both of Gordo, Ala.; sister, Sheree Gilliam, and husband, Jeff, Gordo, Ala.; two brothers, Phillip N. Junkin and wife, Debbie, Northport, Ala., and Tim Junkin and wife, Vickie, Gordo, Ala.; parents, Cliff F. and Betty Jane Junkin, Gordo, Ala.; and grandparents, Namon and Mable Fair, Gordo, Ala.

Mr. Junkin was a member of the Gordo First United Methodist Church, the owner of Twin Pines Electric and a lifelong resident of this area.

Pallbearers will be members of Saturday Morning TLC Prayer Group, Mark Babb, Jim Elmore, Richard Howell, Dale Lancaster, Maurice Stuckey Jr., Mike Wise, Joe Krebbs and Sammy Sanders.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Pamela Hughes, the nurses and staff at the Southeast Cancer Network, P.C. and ICU, Northport Medical Center and employees of Twin Pines Electric.

Steve's family requests memorials to the Gordo First United Methodist Church, New Building Fund, P.O. Box 343, Gordo, AL 35466.

Elizabeth Horne Moore

NORTHPORT - Elizabeth "Libby" Horne Moore, 64, 1905 Hudson Bay Drive, died Jan. 28, 2001, at her residence. Services will be at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. jimmy Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home. Magnolia Chapel of Northport is directing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. "Billy" Moore, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Horne.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice E. Fraiser (Scott) of Atlanta; sons, Mike Moore (Cindy), Steve Moore and Don Moore, all of Northport; and grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Ashley Moore and Colton Moore.

Mrs. Moore dedicated her entire life to her family in so many ways. She had a special way of touching the lives of everyone around. She was loved by a lot of people and will be missed by all.

Pallbearers will be Todd Moore, Bob Dyess, Jimmy Green , Fred Jones, Jeff Stewart and Ben Barnett.

Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, employees of the Tuscaloosa Fire Dept., employees of Horne's Bar-B-Que, Skyland Boulevard Baptist Church, staff and doctors of the DCH Cancer Center.

Marvin Frederick Slagle

GORDO - Marvin Frederick Slagle, 79, 8631 Hwy 159, died Jan. 29, 2001, at his residence. Complete arrangements will be announced at a later date by Skelton Funeral Home of Reform.

Pamela Denise Banks

MOUNDVILLE - Pamela Denise Banks, 38, 237 Riverviews Beach Road, died Jan. 28, 2001, at UAB. Services will be at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Patsy Tant officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home. Magnolia Chapel South is directing.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Banks.

Survivors include her father, Paul Banks; daughter, Brandy Tucker; son, Christopher Joyner; sisters, Paula Beams and Sherri Banks; brother, Mark Wayne Banks.

Pallbearers will be Charles Tidmore, Tony Smith, Mike Banks, Allen Watts, Brad Banks and Michael Banks.

Christia Prewitt

TUSCALOOSA - Christia Prewitt, age 27, died January 13, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Northport with Rev. Richard Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Wills' Funeral Service directing. visitation will be 12-7 p.m. today.

Virginia L. Brown
TUSCALOOSA - Virginia L. (Gin) Brown, passed away peacefully at her home, with family members and specials friends by her side, Tuesday, January 15, 2002. She was called home to the house of our Lord to the waiting, loving arms of her late husband of 57 years, Morgan B. Brown. A blessed reunion indeed. Also preceding in death were her parents, William Clarence and Ruby Pearce Brown of Aberdeen, Mississippi.
As a devoted, caring, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, and special friend, she will be greatly missed by all; including her daughter, Shirley Brown of Tuscaloosa, son, Jerry Morgan Brown (Donna) of Tuscaloosa, son, Kenny Brown (Rhonda) of Montgomery, grandsons, Brett and Jeff Hallman of Tuscaloosa, granddaughter, Lacy Brown of Montgomery, sister, Elois Brasfield (Lee) of Amory, Mississippi, aunt, Curtis Clarkson of Hamilton, Mississippi and a host of other loving relatives.
During the glory days of downtown Tuscaloosa, Mrs. Brown was the owner /operator of Pizitz Beauty Salon, which was on the second floor of the popular Pizitz Department Store on University Boulevard for many years. Precious memories of friends and co-workers from this time remain today. She was born in Detroit, Alabama on January 29, 1927 and raised in the Aberdeen-Amory, Mississippi area. She attended elementary school in Hamilton, Mississippi and High School at Becker High School. She graduated from Shelton, here in Tuscaloosa, where she mastered cosmetology.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hallman, Ricky Brasfield, Brad Brasfield, Ricky Parker, W.D. (Billy) Aycock Jr., and David Crawford.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Isabel Oldshue (Office and Staff), Dr. Jeanne Lipscomb (Office and Staff), Caregivers from Hospice of West Alabama, Joan Wells, Carol Pierce, Lenora Wisdom, Julie Aldridge, Gail Hales, and David Cameron, friends, Libby Crawford, Clarice Aycock, and Kenny Holloway. Thanks to special friends, Mable Herring, Jackie Self, Pinkie Robertson, Joyce Partin, Cindy Petty, Janet Kaye Herring, and Denise Turner.
Visitation will be from 7 until 9 PM Thursday, January 17, 2002 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Boulevard East, Tuscaloosa. Services will be in Memory Chapel at 1:00 Friday, January 18, 2002 with intombment to follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Memory Hill Gardens. Rev. Carl Wells will officiate with Memory Chapel directing.

Eleanor Edwards
TUSCALOOSA - Eleanor Edwards, age 88, departed this life January 12, 2002. Funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Edwards were conducted Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Green sburg United Methodist Church with burial following in the Green sburg Cemetery.

Robert Edwards
GADSDEN - Robert Edwards, age 88, formerly of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died January 16, 2002 at his residence. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Duncan Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen City Cemetery. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
Mr. Edwards was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Judge David McKay Enslen
FAYETTE - Judge David McKay Enslen, retired District Judge passed away on January 15, 2002. Funeral services will be January 17, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Fayette First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Fayette City Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Margaret Mickleboro Enslen.
Surviving Judge Enslen is David McKay Enslen, Jr. (Terry, Martha Hughey (Mike) both of Semmes, Alabama and Susan Gabriel (Harry) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He is also survived by grandchildren, David Enslen III, Jeremy Enslen, Jessie Enslen, John Enslen, Amy Hughey, Justin Hughey all of Semmes; Alison Gabriel and Beth Gabriel of Tuscaloosa.
He was born September 22, 1925 in Wetumpka to David Malphren and Martha Porter Enslen. Upon graduating from Murphy High School in Mobile he enlisted in the Navy and served his country in World War II, a combat veteran of both the European and Pacific theatres of operation. After being discharged he attended the University of Alabama obtaining a Juris Doctorate degree.
In 1950 he moved to Fayette and became an active member of the community. He worked with Alex Smith later forming a practice of Nolen & Enslen. He practiced law for 25 years, serving 20 years as City Attorney from 1954-1978. Served as county judge from 1976-1977, Judge Enslen was appointed to the District Court on October 21, 1975 by Governor George C. Wallace. In 1976, he was elected as District Court Judge and remained in office until 1988 when he retired.
He served on the Board of Education from 1968-1976 and served as chairman from 1969 until 1975 when he was appointed District Judge. He also was a member of Fayette Gas Board, Exchange Club and other civic organizations.
He was on the Board of the Center of Christian Concern, as a volunteer for Hospice and for the Fayette Medical Center serving as president, Chamber of Commerce. Judge Enslen was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where was a member of the official Board serving on many committees, Sunday school teacher for 40 years, was a member of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School where he was treasurer.
He served as MYF leader to many young people, some of whom he still remained in touch with. He was also Church Historian as was in the process of writing a Church History.
Judge Enslen was a member of the American Bar Association, Alabama Bar Association, serving on the State Bar Commission and served as second vice president in 1977, 24th Judicial Circuit Bar Association, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, Alabama District Judges Association, Alabama Juvenile Association serving as its president in 1979-1981.
Honorary pallbearers are 24th Judicial Circuit Bar Association.
Pallbearers will be his son, David Enslen, Jr., Johnny Crutcher, Buster Hallman, Butch Hudson, Harlan Prater and Craig Rutland.
The family suggest memorials be made to the RISE Program, P.O. Box 870305, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487, Fayette First Methodist Church in as much fund or the charity of your choice.
