Eula Mae Turner

HARPERVILLE, Ga. - Eula Mae Turner, age 92, formerly of Tuscaloosa, died January 31, 2002, at South Fulton Medical Center in Eastpoint, Ga. Services will be held 3 p.m. today, Heritage Chapel with Rev. Brad Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Turner; son, Donald Montgomery and granddaughter, Janice Johnson.

Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Bullock, Louise Norton and Marie Huddleston; grandchildren, Lisa Hendrix, Cassandra Jones, Sharon Manness, Pam Widby, Debbra Whitehurst and Sherrie Hall; 17 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Michael Whitehurst, Sr., Michael Whitehurst, Jr., Mork Hall, Sr., Bud Wilby, Larry Hendrix, and Stancel Hallman.

Iris Jean Pruett Bailey

TUSCALOOSA - Iris Jean Pruett Bailey passed away January 31, 2002. She was born June 5, 1929 in Alabama City, Ala. and was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School. Mrs. Bailey was a member of Dwight Baptist Church in Gadsden, Ala. until 1960 when she moved to Tuscaloosa and joined the city’s Alberta Baptist Church. There, she was a member of the Pastor’s Sunday School Class and the Martha Gilliland W.M.U. Circle. She retired in 1994 from Randall Publishing after a 26 year career there.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James H. Bailey of Tuscaloosa. Other survivors include her daughter, Kathy Bailey of Aberdeen, Miss., Patricia Bailey of Tuscaloosa, Pamela Skelton of Augusta, Ga., one grand daughter, Sara Byrd of Atlanta, Ga., two grandsons, Andrew Skelton and Michael Skelton of Augusta as well as on brother-in-law, C.W. Bailey (Marie) of Gadsden and three sisters-in-law Betty Pruett, Opal Pruett and Gladys Pruett of Gadsden.

Pallbearers will be Randy Lafoy, Daniel Turner, Michael Nix, Jerry Johnston, Michael Pruett, Joe Pruett and Paul Pruett.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Randall Publishing Co., members of the Martha Gilliland Circle and the Pastor's Sunday School Class of Alberta Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends today from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, February 2, 11:00 a.m. at Alberta Baptist Church followed by graveside services at Memory Hill Gardens. The Rev. Dr. Ervin Cook will officiate. The family will receive flowers of donations can be made to the Alberta Baptist Church Anniversary Fund.

Paul “David” Brashier

BERRY - Paul "David" Brashier, age 46, 84 Madison Avenue, died January 30, 2002, at Pickens County Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Pleasant Hill Community Cemetery. Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette is directing.

Jack Lee McCutchen

TUSCALOOSA - Jack Lee McCutchen, 70, of 2721 Cherokee Road, died February 1, 2002. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Sunday After 1:00 p.m. at the residence. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

Survivors include his wife, Cecile Juanita McCutchen; daughter, Janet McCutchen Simpson (Donnie Lee Simpson); son, Dooley McCutchen, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brothers, Fred McCutchen and Tom McCutchen, (Flo), Tallahassee Fla.; grandchildren, Lindsey Hope McCutchen and Conor Ian McCutchen.

Jack Lee McCutchen age 70, a Christian man loved God, his country, his family and his community.

He gave 21 years of service to the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana and North Dakota. He retired a Chief Master Sergeant to Tuscaloosa Alabama.

A respected and loved member of the community as a father, grandfather and league director for The Northport Fast Pitch Softball League. He was a University of Alabama Softball booster and supporter. He was involved with the organization of the Kentuck Arts Festival and Citifest.

Father to Dooley McCutchen and Janet McCutchen Simpson, Grandfather to Lindsey Hope McCutchen and Conor Ian McCutchen. A devoted husband to Juanita Carpenter McCutchen for 50 years.

He was very loved and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Jones, Rodney Jones, Marshall Carpenter Jr., D.J. McMahon, Paul Huddleston and Donnie Fisher.

Honorary pallbearers are University of Alabama Softball Team and Coaches, West Alabama Fast Pitch Assoc., Cherokee Hills Lake Assoc. and Neighborhood.

Elizabeth Potts Basinger

ROANOKE, Ala. - Elizabeth "Tootsie" Potts Basinger, 77, of Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke, Ala., formerly of Aliceville, died February 2, 2002 at East Alabama Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. today in Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Larry Potts officiating. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allie E. and Judah Burgess Potts; husband, Hunter Basinger and brother, A.B. Potts, All of Aliceville.

Survivors include one son, Pat Salatto, Jr. and his wife Susan of Roanoke, Ala.; one sister-in-law, Ruth drain Potts of Northport; three grandchildren, Trey Salatto, John Elliott and Jennifer Elliott, one great-grandson, Slade Patrick Salatto; nephews, Larry Potts and Bobby Potts.

Mrs. Basinger was a member of the Aliceville First Baptist Church. Former owner and operator of Pott’s 5 & 10 cent Store and Independent Oil Company of Aliceville, Ala. and a longtime resident of Aliceville.

Linda H. Burch

TUSCALOOSA - Linda H. Burch, 59, 7234 Commodore Drive NE, died February 2, 2002 at the UAB in Birmingham. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Circlewood Baptist Church with Dr. Herb Thomas and Dr. Gil McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Louise Hatfield.

Survivors include her husband, David L. Burch, Tuscaloosa; sons, Danny Burch, Ricky Burch and Craig Burch all of Tuscaloosa; one brother, Micky Hatfield, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Brian Burch, Bradley Burch, Ashley Burch, Kellcie Burch and Virginia Burch all of Tuscaloosa.

Mrs. Burch was born July 2, 1942 in Eufaula, Ala. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a committed Christian and member at First Baptist Church. She loved Southern Gospel Music and Especially supported the Gaithers.

Margeret Howarth Falls

TUSCALOOSA - Margeret Howarth Falls, 85, 3515 3rd Avenue, died February 1, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Jerry Deasey officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. There will be a Rosery from 6:00-6:30 and visitation tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Falls, Sr.; an infant son, Thomas; eleven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Hall (Jimmy) of Tuscaloosa and Mary Beth Thiry (Richard) Orange Beach, Ala.; sons, Jim Falls of Kansas City, Mo., retired Col. Joseph M. Falls, retired (Grace) of Helena, Ala. and Richard Falls of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren, Renee’ Thiry, Warren Thiry, Leslie Falls, Nicole Falls, Lean Hall and Cody Hall; brothers-in-law, Drew Falls and Pete Falls; sisters-in-law, Ruby Falls and Ruth Falls; several nieces and nephews.

She was a native of South River, New Jersey and was a graduate of St Peters Nursing School. She was a retired nursing Supervisor at DCH Regional Medical Center where she served the local community for 24 years. She was a member of the Mary Immaculate Sodality and a devout parishoner of Holy Spirit Catholic church. She was also a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed dearly.

Pallbearers will be Charles Nuckols, Arnold Romain, Skipper Falls, Gary Falls, Arthur Nuckols and Hugh Matthews.

Honorary pallbearers are the nurses and staff of the medical Intensive Care Unite (MICU) and 2-Southeast of DCH Regional Medical Center. Dr Richard Snow and the Mary Immaculate Sodality, Knights of Columbus, Parishioners of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Jewel Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to DCH Regional Medical Center c/o Margaret Falls Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund.

James Wilford Gray

NORTHPORT - James Wilford Gray, 71, died Saturday February 2, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Monday February 4, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Madison Cemetery in Berry. Family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Norwood Chapel of Fayette is directing.

Mr. Gray was born September 6, 1930 in Berry, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Susie Gray.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel M. Gray of Northport; one son, Danny Gray (Robin) of Northport; two sisters, Betty Hoggle (Tom) of Northport, June Holcomb (Morris) of Decatur; two brothers, Lib Gray of Duncanville and Damon Gray (Judy) of Rhode Island; two grandchildren, Kori and Lauren Gray of Northport.

Fred Alfred Sandlin

SULLIGENT - Fred Alfred Sandlin, age 60 of Sulligent, Ala. passed away Friday, February 1, 2002 at Baptist Hospital Montclair in Birmingham, Ala. Funeral Services will be held today, February 4, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel of Sulligent with burial in the Wofford Cemetery.

Ethel Madelyn Middleton

ALICEVILLE - Ethel Madelyn Middleton, 77 of 2244 Sapps Road, died February 2, 2002 at her residence. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Aliceville with Rev. Jim Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is Directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Laborn B. Middleton, Sr.; brothers, Horace Hardy and Clarence Hardy; sister, Polly Pope and great-grandson, Jeremey Sultzbach.

Survivors include two daughters, Joan M. Winston (Hubert) of Aliceville, Ala., Dale M. Noland (Sonny) of Aliceville, Ala.; one son, Laborn B. Middleton, Jr. (Kaye) of Huntsville; three sisters, Lillian Barton, Grace Wood, Jane Gay; two brothers, Billy Hardy and Jimmy Hardy; grandchildren, Dawn W. Gates (Ken), Pickensville, Keith Winston, Columbus, Ga., Tara Middleton (John), Tuscaloosa, Tammy N. Smith (Mike), Carrollton, Bart Middleton, New Orleans, La. Bert Noland, Aliceville, Tori Danielle and Chris Drake, Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Erica, Clay, Kayla, Kendrall, Janett, Travis, John Michael, Kevin, Tasha, Savannah and Tyler; great- great grandchild, Savannah. A number of Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Middleton was a member of Aliceville First Baptist Church, a retired inspector with Westinghouse and a well known resident of Aliceville.

Pallbearers will be Butch Hardy, Doug wood, Don Wood, Bill Hardy, Jim Hardy, Joe Jones and John Mason.

Honorary pallbearers are Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Heritage, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shelton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wheat, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Blakney, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Pendrak, Mrs. Eunice Ashcraft, nurses and nurses aides of Amedisys, Dr. Patel, Dr. Gentry, Sr. and David Gentry.

Helen Fowler

TUSCALOOSA - Helen Fowler, died February 2, 2002 at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Arrangements will be announced later by Memory Chapel Funeral Home.

Joseph Eubanks

BOLIGEE - Joseph Eubanks, of Boligee, Alabama passed February 2, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Funeral Arrangements will be announced later by Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis.

Elizabeth Horne Moore

NORTHPORT - Elizabeth "Libby" Horne Moore, 64, 1905 Hudson Bay Dr., died Jan. 28, 2001, at her residence. Services were held at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jimmy Garner officiated. Burial followed in Memory Hill Gardens. Magnolia Chapel of Northport directed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. "Billy" Moore, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Horne.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice E. Frasier (Scott) of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Mike Moore (Cindy), Steve Moore and Don Moore, all of Northport; grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Ashley Moore and Colton Frasier.

Mrs. Moore dedicated her entire life to her family in so many ways. She had a special way of touching the lives of everyone around. She was loved by a lot of people and will be missed by all.

Pallbearers will be Todd Moore, Bob Dyess, Jimmy Green , Fred Jones, Jeff Stewart and Ben Barnett.

Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, employees of the Tuscaloosa Fire Dept., employees of Horne's Bar-B-Que, Skyland Boulevard Baptist Church, and the staff and doctors of the DCH Cancer Center.
