PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Harold Lockett, formerly of Brent, Ala., passed away Jan. 28, 2001. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with burial to follow in Duff Cemetery in Brent, Ala. Cahaba Memorial Funeral Home of Brent, Ala., is directing.

Libbie Kirkland

EUTAW - Libbie Kirkland, 51, formerly of Eutaw, died Jan. 26, 2001, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. Services will be held at Second Baptist Church of Eutaw on Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Gandy Funeral Home of Eutaw is directing.

Steven Earl Garner

TUSCALOOSA - Steven Earl Garner, 51, of Hwy 82 East, died Jan. 31, 2001. Graveside services will be at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park today at 4 p.m. Magnolia Chapel South is directing.

Russell Alan "Rusty" Quarles

Russell Alan "Rusty" Quarles, 53, of 1823 Woodridge Road, died February 16, 2002. Graveside services will be held in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 1 p.m. Dr. Steven L. Jacobs will officiate. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Podesta Quarles.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Fink Quarles, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughter, Karen Margaret Quarles, Memphis, Tenn. (son-in-law to be, Adam Hamburger); son, Jeffery Russell Quarles, Las Vegas, Nev.; brothers, Ralph Quarles, Tuscaloosa (Kat), and Ronnie Quarles, Tuscaloosa, (Betty); father, Banks W. Quarles, Tuscaloosa (Marcia); step-sister, Noelle Mercurio (Jeff); nieces, Katie Hughey (Joel), Jes-sica Aycock (Matt), Jennifer Quarles, and Jasmine Aycock; nephews, Banks Quarles, Jr., Scott and Derek Fink, and Jack-son Mercurio.

Rusty was a lifetime resident of Tuscaloosa and graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in business administration in 1970. In 1972 he received his master's degree in public relations from the university. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father he continued the family business of Banks Quarles Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling in 1978. He was active in many civic and business organizations including Sigma Alpha Epsilon alumni advisor, Contractors 2000, and Tuscaloosa Business Exchange. Rusty also served on the Board of Directors of Temple Emanuel, retired from the US Army Reserve with the rank of Major, and was a member of the Retired Officers Association. He also was past President of Alabama Plumbing Heating and Cooling Association.

Pallbearers will be Augie Acquillino, A.D. Christian, Walter Gary, Andy Graham, Raymond Griffin, Wayne Guy, Hal Kirby, Charles Morgan, Ming Lu, Larry O'Neal, Gene Poole, Shelly Rosenzweig, Dennis Brasfield, and Scott Jennings.

Honorary pallbearers are employees, friends and associates of Banks Quarles Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, and the brothers of Alpha Epsilon.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to RISE, Hospice of West Alabama, or your favorite charity.

Jennifer Gail Thomas Cleve

GREENSBORO - Jennifer Gail Thomas Cleve, 29, died Jan. 30, 2001, in Demopolis. Services are today at 3 p.m. at Green sboro Bible Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes of Green sboro directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church.

Survivors include her husband, Brian Parker Cleve, Green sboro; daughter, Breann Taylor Cleve, Green sboro; son, Parker Thomas Cleve, Green sboro; sisters, Sheree Johnson (Wayne), Green sboro, Iris Bessiouni (Jala), Tuscaloosa, Karen Besant (Buddy), Tuscaloosa; brother, Michael Thomas (Linda), Green sboro; father and mother, Cecil and Evelyn Thomas, Green sboro; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph John and Vicky Marjean Barbara, Buffalo, N.Y.; and aunt, Lori Rice, Tuscaloosa.

Agnes Hudnall Hill

TUSCALOOSA - Agnes Hudnall Hill, 94, died Jan. 31, 2001, at Heritage Health Care Center. Services will be held at Forest Lake United Methodist Church today at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Carboni officiating. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen C. Hill, and her sons, Jack H. Hill and Joel Dudley Hill.

She is survived by her sister, Nell H. Brown of Dothan; sons, Kenneth J. Hill of Tuscaloosa and Douglas Carlyle Hill of Steens, Miss.; daughters, Frances Ledbetter of Tuscaloosa and Phyllis H. Duke of Lake City, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Kemper County Mississippi Agricultural School (Class of 1927). She attended Mississippi College for Women and taught school in Monroe and Noxubee County in Mississippi. She was a charter member of Forest Lake United Methodist Church and the Tuscaloosa Association for Retarded Citizens, which was formed in 1957. While she was physically able, she was active in the United Methodist Women, Daughters of American Revolution, and taught the Susannah Wesley Sunday school class.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Forest Lake United Methodist Church, 1711 Fourth Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401, or Indian Rivers Mental Retardation Center, P.O. Box 3165, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.

Louie O. "Skip" Skipper

DOTHAN - Mr. Louie O. "Skip" Skipper, 88, passed away Friday, February 15, 2002 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held today, February 17, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Kent-Thorton Funeral Home with Dr. Phillip Wise , Reverend Bob Gross, and the Reverend Louie Skipper officiating. Burial will follow in the Dothan City Cemetery with Kent-Thorton Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2623 Montgomery Highway, Suite 1, Dothan, AL., 36302.

Mr. Skipper was born April 22, 1913 in Dale County, Alabama the son of John and Mattie Skipper. Mr. Skipper began his military career in 1939 with the Army Air Corps in Fort Benning, Ga. As his career progressed, the United States Air Force was formed from which he retired. He was one of 48 men who volunteered to form the Army's Secret parachute Test Platoon, and was decorated accordingly. From 1962 to 1970 he was in law enforcement as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Houston County. He also served as Chief of Police in Ashford for a short time. He was a member of First Baptist Church Dothan.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Lamb Skipper of Dothan, Al.; one son, the Reverend Louie and Mrs. Susan Skipper, Birmingham, Al.; one grandson, Stephen Skipper of Birmingham, Al.; one granddaughter, Jenna Moore of Birmingham, Al.; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Oaks of Ashford, Al.; one brother-in-law, Dewey M. Barnes of Dothan, Al.; and several nieces and nephews.

Russell Alan "Rusty" Quarles

TUSCALOOSA - Russell Alan "Rusty" Quarles, 53, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2002. Arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.

Charlie Barrett Glover

LINDEN - Charlie Barrett Glover, 87, of 608 North Main Street, died Jan. 31, 2001, at Marengo Nursing Home. Services will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home today at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Sweet Water Cemetery of Sweet Water. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Linden is directing.

Aldie M. Clements

TUSCALOOSA - Aldie M. Clements, 72, of 4408 28th Street, died Jan. 28, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at Poles Bridge Baptist Church on Saturday at noon with the Rev. J. Willis officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rollins’ Mortuary is directing.

James Cecil Shirley

GORDO - James Cecil Shirley, age 88, of 609 Ben Elmore Road, died February 21, 2002, at his residence. Services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Elmore Center Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Center Springs Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be immediately following service at the church.

Jewel Dismuke

TUSCALOOSA - Jewel Dismuke, age 52, died February 19, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 a.m. Lavender Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Ole Bethany Cemetery with Lavender Funeral Service directing. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. today. The body will lie in state from 8 –11 a.m. Saturday.

Toliver W. Shelton, Jr.

FAYETTE - Mr. Toliver W. Shelton, Jr., 88, of Bluff Community, died February 27, 2002. Graveside services will be held Saturday in Bethel Baptist Cemetery at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home. Crestview Memorial Funeral Home is directing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend T.W. Shelton and Elora Waldrop Shelton and sisters, Linnie Bobo and Twillie Ashcraft.

Survivors include his sister, Valeria Davidson, Warrior, Ala.; nephews, Jack Bobo (Evelyn), Arley, Ala., Bobby Ashcraft (Evelyn), Vance, Ala., James Davidson (Kathy), Warrior, Ala., and Roger L. Davidson, Fayette, Ala.; nieces, Rita Entrekin (Bill), Forestdale, Ala., and Nora Gaskin (Gary), Wilsonville, Ala.; five great nephews, and five great nieces.

Judy B. Woodard

FOSTERS - Judy B. Woodard, 33, of Route 1 Box 13478 Eutaw Highway, died February 21, 2002. Services will be held at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Foster s, Saturday, March 2, 2002 at 12 noon. Burial will follow in the Churchyard Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Room. Druid Funeral Service is directing.

James Horton

EUTAW - Mr. James Horton, 68, died February 23, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at Christian Chapel Church in Demopolis, Saturday, March 2, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in Demopolis. The remains will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. Visitation for public viewing is today from 3-5 p.m. at the Chapel. Gandy Funeral Home is directing.

King Solomon Nalls, Jr.

FAYETTE - King Solomon Nalls, Jr., age 50, of 509 5th Street, S.W., died February 24, 2002, at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Canaan Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Zion Methodist Church Cemetery with Fayette Funeral Home directing.

Donald D. Evans

NORTHPORT - Donald D. Evans, 97, died February 28, 2002 at DCH-Northport. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Sunset Funeral Home.

G. B. Bowles

REFORM - G. B. Bowles, age 80, of 1604 1st Street N., died February 23, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from Skelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Blakney officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Gilbert W. Bowles, Grover A. Bowles, Grady H. Bowles, and sister, Geneva Harding.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Powell Bowles, Reform, Ala.; sons, Mike Bowles, Reform, Ala.; Kenneth W. Bowles and wife, Beth, Buhl, Ala.; sisters, Pat Bair, Albuquerque, N. M.; Glenna Turek, Hurst, Tx.; Grace Cummins, Reform, Ala.; brothers, Lee Bowles, Meridian, Miss.; Garland Bowles, Tuscumbia, Ala.; Raymond Bowles, Killen, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Kenneth W. Bowles, Jr. (Jennifer), Gordo; James R. Bowles (Shannon), Reform; Shannon B. Reece (Eric), Gordo; Carrie Miranda Bowles, Buhl; Chris Bowles, Reform; Adam Pate, Northport; and Lauren Pate, Buhl; great-grandchildren, Erika, Katelyn and McKenzie Bowles and Kyle and Taylor Reece.

Mr. Bowles was born in Reform, Alabama on March 11, 1921 the son of Houston and Octavia Welch Bowles. He was a retired lead lineman for the Alabama Power Company, a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a life long resident of Pickens County. He will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Sampson, Terry Bowles, Doug Skelton, Quinton Oglesby, Eric Reece and Jerome Mordecai.

Honorary pallbearers are Alabama Power Company Local #874.

Barbara Ann Thompson Dorsey

TUSCALOOSA - Barbara Ann Thompson Dorsey, age 56, of 914 17th Avenue East, died February 19, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. from St. John Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 12-6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to service. Williams Service Funeral Home is directing.
