Betty Walker

TUSCALOOSA - Betty Walker, age 72 died February 20, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. from Heritage Chapel with Bro. Nelson White officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Murry Walker.

Survivors include daughters, Deanna Wolfslov, Oceanside, Calif.; Deborah Sackett, Battle Creek, Mich.; sons, Lee Charlton, Tuscaloosa; Robin Kilgore, Birmingham; Raban Kilgore, Jackson, Miss.; sisters, Geraldine Byrd, Tuscaloosa; Linda Donner, Maryville, Tenn.; Margie McCraw, Maryville, Tenn.; Tommie Wade, Mobile; Wanda McCraw, Tuscaloosa; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are employees of Buddy’s Ribs & Steaks in Northport.

William Overton

SULLIGENT - William Overton, age 88, died February 20, 2002, at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be held 2 p.m. today, Chapel of Chandler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Shilo Pinhook Cemetery in the Hightogy Community with Chandler Funeral Home directing.

Maxine Estes Flippo

WINFIELD - Maxine Estes Flippo, 86, died Friday March 1, 2002. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday March 4 at Winfield First Baptist Church and will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to service. Burial will follow in Winfield City Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield is directing.

Frances Green Webster

FORKLAND - Frances Green Webster, 61, died Jan. 31, 2001, at Bryan Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis. Services will be held at Larkin & Scott Funeral Home Chapel of Demopolis on Sunday at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Prout Cemetery. Visitation is today from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis is directing.

Willie N. McDaniel

CARROLLTON - Willie N. "Dan" McDaniel, 76, of 1930 County Road 5, died Feb. 1, 2001. Services will be at Marvin Chapel Methodist Church today at 2 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Stabler- Robbins Funeral Directors, Inc., is directing.

Horace Thurman Fuller

NORTHPORT - Horace Thurman Fuller, 86, formerly of Gadsden, died on Jan. 30, 2001. Services will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel today at 11 a.m. with Dr. Phillip Young and the Rev. Elton Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham with the Rev. Doug Wells officiating. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is directing.

He is preceded in death by his son, David T. Fuller.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda Johnson Fuller; son, Mike Fuller of Green sboro; daughters-in-law, Brenda Fuller of Green sboro and Carolyn Fuller of Mobile; grandchildren, Paige Fuller of Phenix City, Denise Hoss (Shawn) of Austin, Tex., and Kimberly Sneed (Alan) of Corpus Christi, Tex.; great-grandson, Joshua Hoss of Austin, Tex.; and his sister, Lois Hadaway of Atlanta, Ga.

Mr. Fuller was a native and resident of Birmingham until 1961. He was employed with A&P Food Stores for 46 years. He transferred to Gadsden with A&P in 1961. He retired in 1976 and remained in Gadsden until health concerns made it necessary to move to be near his son. He was a member of the Bessemer Masonic Lodge and The Gadsden Shrine Club. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Gadsden.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Bigham Jr., Dr. David T. Fuller III, Jack Gault, Shawn Hoss, Bob Johnson, Joe Rogers Johnson and Curtis Wright.

Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Bob Hawthorne, James H. Pruett, Judge J.B. Waid, Men's Bible Class at First United Methodist Church, and all friends and former employees of A&P Food Stores.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 1800 McFarland Blvd. N, Suite 310, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406.

Patsy Daniels

JEFFERSON - Patsy Daniels, 86, died Feb. 1, 2001, at Bryan Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis. Services will be held at First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Jefferson on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Scott Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is today from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis is directing.

Minister Kenneth Earl Cabbil

BIRMINGHAM - Minister Kenneth Earl Cabbil, 47, formerly of Holt, died Jan. 30, 2001, at his home. Services will be at St. John A.M.E. Church in Holt on Sunday at 2 p.m. Viewing hours are today from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church Sunday one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park. Professional services are provided by Van Hoose and Steele Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Cabbil, Birmingham; four daughters, Franchessa, LaKendall, Shyra and Lataisha; son, LaDarious; two stepsons, Tyrell and Yashica; sisters, Sherry M. (Charles) McClyde and Pamela M. (John Jr.) Nero; brothers, Lonnie (Shelia) Mack, Gary (Vicki) Whitfield, Walter and George Whitfield; mother-in-law, Lucille Adams; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; four aunts, two uncles, a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and acquaintances.

Mr. Cabbil was a graduate of Holt High School Class of 1972.

Hazel Hickman

CARROLLTON - Hazel Hickman, 92, of 2019 Sellers Road, died Feb. 2, 2001, at Pickens County Medical Center. Graveside services will be at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday at 2 p.m. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.

Preston Rutledge

CENTREVILLE - Preston Rutledge, who passed away Jan. 31, 2001, in Perry County Funeral services will be Sunday at the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Brent at 1 p.m. with burial in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Perry County. Cahaba Memorial Funeral Chapel is directing.

Mary Lee Simmons Swift

TUSCALOOSA - Mary Lee Simmons Swift, 46, of 5211 Stillman Blvd., died Jan. 30, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at West Highland Baptist Church today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Forrest Moore officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Oak Memorial Park. Wills' Funeral Service, Inc. is directing.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Swift; daughters, LeKeisha Mc-Kinstry (Nath-aniel) and Tameka Swift; mother, Lula Pearl Simmons; sisters, Nora Frierson (William), Dianne Simmons, Tonya Williams (Lamar), all of Tuscaloosa, and Louella Davis (Perry) of Eutaw; brothers, Milton Busby (Maggie) of Florida, Mavie Simmons Jr. (Velina) of Montgomery, Al Fred Webb (Irene) and Larry Simmons, both of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Markeisha Swift, Na'Disha McKinstry, Markeila Swift and Na Kayla McKinstry.

Ashlyn Danielle Freeman

TUSCALOOSA - Infant Ashlyn Danielle Freeman died March 19, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced later by Wills’ Funeral Service.

Maurine Nichols Barton Owen

NORTHPORT - Maurine Nichols Barton Owen, 91, died March 18, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at Northwood Hills Baptist Church on March 22, 2002 at 10 a.m. Reverend George Shaddix is officiating. Burial will follow in Tusacloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Sunset Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Velma Nichols; her husbands, George Barton and Thomas Owen; son-in-law, Pete Owens; and granddaughter, Faith Barton.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Bill) Shuman, and Tommie Linda Owen, both of Northport; step-daughter, Mary Katherine Owens, Birmingham; son, Bill (Janice) Barton, Demopolis; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Maurine Nichols Barton Owen was born in Vance, Ala in 1910, she then moved to the Holt Community as a young child where she graduated from Holt High School in 1928. She worked at Gulf States Paper for many years before moving to Northport to become the wife of a farmer and cattleman.

She was a devoted member of Northwood Hills Baptist Church where she enjoyed the worship fellowship and choir.

Maurine loved the Lord, her family, music, animals and people. She was a kind, generous, loving Christian lady who will be greatly missed!

Pallbearers will be Ken, Kevin, and Joshua Shuman, Michael Barton, Parker and Conner Adams and William Owens.

Honorary pallbearers are Members of Northwood Hills Baptist Church, Mrs. Mel Newman, Kenneth and Bert Guy, Dr. Brian Wilhite, employees of Glen Haven Nursing Home and DCH 5 North.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Northwood Hills Baptist Church Music Fund.

Virginia E. Wheeler

TUSCALOOSA - Virginia E. Wheeler, of 5810 Rice Mine Road NE, died March 18, 2002. Services will be held today, March 20, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at The Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Memory Hills Gardens, with entombment to follow. Rev. Alan Head is officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, O.C. Wheeler; sister, Nell A. Danner; and daughter, Martha Ann Wheeler.

Survivors include her nieces, Brenda Kirby, Tuscaloosa, Virginia Milton, Fort Walton, Fla., Billy Faye Alsop, Fairhope, and Patsy A. Lee, Fairhope; and nephew, Claude Fred Alsop, Fairhope

Geneva Taylor

FAYETTE - Geneva Taylor, 80, died Feb. 2, 2001, at his residence. Services will be at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 6-8. Nelson Funeral Home is directing.

Mary Largin

TUSCALOOSA - Mary Largin, age 66, of 18 Terrwood Drive, died March 4, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced later by Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South.

Joyce Green Rives

NORTHPORT - Joyce Green Rives, age 72, died March 19, 2002 at Heritage Health Care Center. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Chris Carson officiating. Visitation is Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Magnolia Chapel South. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is directing.

Survivors include sons, David (Becky) Wooldridge, Birmingham; Bobby (Cathy) Wooldridge, Tuscaloosa; sister, ZoAnne Green Ross, Guntersville; grandchildren, Daley Wooldridge, Birmingham; Clay Wooldridge, Tuscaloosa; Bradley Wooldridge, Birmingham; Robby Wooldridge, Tuscaloosa; and uncle, W. E. Peters, Decatur.

Active pallbearers will be Chuck Malone, Jimmy Warren, Jim Guin, Chris Roberts, Jim Roberts, Eric Snow, Joe Morrison, and Shirley Fields.

Honorary pallbearers are Zollie Reed, Koinonia Sunday School Class and the Happy Seekers of Forest Lake United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Forest Lake United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
