WINFIELD - Leonard Howard Randolph, 87, died Monday, April 8, 2002. Services will be held at Winfield First Baptist Church, today at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens, Gu-Win. The body will lie in state at the Church from 1-2 p.m. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield is directing.

Eddie B. Parker Williams

NORTHPORT - Eddie B. Parker Williams, 86 of Northport, died April 7, 2002 at Glen Haven Rehab and Nursing Center, Northport. Services will be held 12 noon Wednesday at New Zion Baptist Church in Northport. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park. She will be open for viewing today 12 noon until 7 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to Service. Williams Service Funeral Home is directing.

Gail Duke

VERNON - Gail Duke, 57, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home, today at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery. Chandler Funeral Home is directing.

Billie Cantrell Humbers

DETROIT, Ala. - Mrs. Billie Cantrell Humbers, age 52 of Detroit, Ala. passed away Sunday, April 7, 2002 at her residence. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with Burial will follow in the Lockhart Cemetery in Gattman, Miss.

Earl Garvis Burnette

TUSCALOOSA - Earl Garvis Burnette, age 80, of 3824 2nd Avenue E., died April 6, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from Memory Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hills Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Vernie L. Burnette and mother, Lois Inez Lawley.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Hudgins Burnette, daughter, Brenda J. Hughes (Lee), Clinton, Ala.; son, Michael E. Burnette (Rosemary), Cottondale, Ala.; sister, Mabel G. Harden (Ray), Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Darrin Hughes (Mandi), Lee E. Hughes (Meredith), great-grandchildren, Tyler and Faith Hughes, brother-in-law, Albert Hudgins (Edith), Birmingham, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He served in the U. S. Navy and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Shelby during the Battle of Okinawa. He was employed as a welder at B.F. Goodrich and retired after 42 years of service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Darrin Hughes, Lee E. Hughes, nephews, Ronald Hinton, Jimmy Hinton, Buddy Hinton, and Tommy Hinton.

Honorary pallbearers are Retirees of Maintenance Dept. of BF Goodrich, Carter Arrington, Frank Roland, David and Joyce Pate, Gary Arrington, Ricky Arrington, Joe and Billie Grimes, Steve and Pam Crain, and friends and neighbors of Bailey Drive.

Charles Alton "Pete" Hallman

RIVERSIDE - Charles Alton "Pete" Hallman, age 64, died April 9, 2002 in Birmingham, Alabama. Services will be held Friday, April 12, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. from Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Pell City, AL. Rev. Glis Cribb and Rev. Darrell Gooden will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is Thursday, April 11, 2002 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Chapel Hill Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include spouse, Johnnie Hallman, Riverside, Ala.; sons, Danny Ray Hallman and his wife, Pamela, Pell City, Ala.; Terry Dale Hallman and his wife, Cindy, Heflin, Ala.; sisters, Faye Lowery, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Lois Bowman, Pell City, Ala.; brothers, Willie Gene Hallman, Pell City, Ala.; Jimmy W. Hallman, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Danny Shelton, II, John Shelton, Jessica Long, Erica Daniel, Amanda Rossetti, Cami Hallman, great-grandchildren, Austin Long, Abby Long, Braden Long, and Callie Daniel.

Mr. Hallman was retired and self employed. He was of the Baptist faith.

Pallbearers will be James Kemp, Barry Long, Jason Rossetti, Dennis Daniel, Ricky Kemp, Billy Kemp, Darren Hallman, and Andrew Kemp.

Mary Jane Trimm Mills

WINFIELD - Mary Jane Trimm Mills, age 95, died Monday, April 8, 2002. Services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. from Miles Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in White Springs Cemetery. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lebron Mills, son, Don Mills, daughter, Louise Miles, great-granddaughter, Jennifer Warren, four sisters, one brother, and two sons-in-law.Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Jo Mills Browning, Mary Esther, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Eloise Mills, Winfield; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lala Hope Franks

FAYETTE - Lala Hope Franks, 63 of 608 7th St. NW, died April 7, 2002 at Russellville Hospital. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home. Nelson Funeral Home is directing.

Lida Mae Hughes

NORTHPORT - Lida Mae Hughes, 83 of 922 24th Ave. E., died April 7, 2002 at Glenn Heaven Nursing Home. Services will be held 3:00 p.m. today at Magnolia Chapel North with Dr. Ervin Cook. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is today from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Hughes; parents, D.W Clary and Ida Whitfield Clary; two sisters, Emma Lou Wagner and Ruby Lee Smith.

Survivors include a step-son, Jerry Hughes (Debbie); a sister, Mary Elizabeth Morgan (William Theodore); a brother, Ben Clary (Elizabeth. H); step- grandson, Bart Hughes; two step- great-granddaughter, friends and neighbors.

Lida was born January 1, 1919 in Hale County, Ala. She was a member of Alberta Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers will be, W. Wayne Puckett, Michael Puckett, Tommy Puckett, Rodney Clary, H. Wayne Puckett and Reggie Landcaster.

Royal Eugene Duke

MARION - Royal Eugene Duke, age 79, died April 9, 2002 at Vaughan Medical Center Parkway Camp. Services will be held Friday, April 12, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in church cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion directing.

Johnnye Sims Scott

LIVINGSTON - Johnnye Sims Scott, 90, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at her residence. Services will be held at Livingston First Baptist Church, Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. Rev. Gary J. McAbee will officiate. Burial will follow in Brewersville Cemetery-Coatopa. Bumpers Funeral Home of York is directing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Emory William Scott, Sr.; and son, Emory William Scott, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Hodgkins of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Robert Hodgkins, Jr., Birmingham, Angelique Brown, Birmingham, and Garland Marks, Washington, DC; great-grandson, Harris Marks; sisters, Evelyn Larkin, Coatopa, Cloy Reid, Montgomery, and Mary Floyd, Sylacauga.

GREENSBORO - Rev. Joe Lee Hamilton, Sr., 80, of 1549 County Road 7, died April 6, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held at St. Mark’s AME Church, Saturday at 1 p.m. Rev. Edd Smith is officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery. Washington-Paige Rollins Mortuary of Green sboro is directing.

Houston Black, Jr.

CLEVELAND, OHIO - Mr. Houston Black, Jr., age 64, a former native of Demopolis, Ala., passed April 6, 2002 in Cleveland. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 12 Noon from the Morning Star Baptist Church in Demopolis. Rev. James Dunn is officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Demopolis. Remains will repose at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 11 a.m. Family hour will be held tonight from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis entrusted with arrangements.

Elvia Lou McCollum

FAYETTE - Elvia Lou McCollum, age 83, of 820 5th Avenue, N.E., Apt. 404, died April 11, 2002, at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens with Norwood Funeral Home of Fayette directing. Visitation is tonight from 4-5 at the funeral home.

Gary Youngblood, Rev. Cliff Patterson and Rev. Bill Richards will officiate. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include her spouse, Richard Watkins, Cottondale; daughters, Teresa Barnes, Foster s; Rita Champion, Samantha; son, Tim Watson, Northport; sisters, Louise Spires, Moundville; Brenda Herring, Cottondale; Janie Sanford, Elrod; brothers, Billy Fraizer, Cottondale; James Morris Fraizer, Tuscaloosa; Tony Fraizer, Northport; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Latner, Ed Owens, Mike Taylor, Larry Kizziah, Milton Watkins, and Donald Taylor.

TUSCALOOSA - David E. Gerald, age 77, of 1605 2nd Avenue, died April 17, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. James Crawford, Dr. Donald Payne, and Rev. Jim Carey officiating. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his spouse, Ruby, daughters, Dana Shirley (Eddie), Northport; Susan Fikes (Tommy), Hoover; Alisa Williams (Johnny), Northport; son, Michael Gerald (Janna), Tuscaloosa; sister, Yvonne Ratchford, Sulphur, Okla.; brother, Ackerman Gerald, Bamburg, S.C.; James Gerald, Tok, Alaska; Austin Gerald, Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren, Amy & Katie Gerald, Alana & Matthew Shirley, Trent, Jeremy, and Clay Fikes, Bryant and Garrett Williams, a special sister-in-law, Marion Barksdale.

Mr. Gerald was retired from the United States Coast Guard, a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church, a member of DAV & American Legion Post 123.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Livingston, William Lee Hannah, Charles Leach, Shane Rodgers, Trent Fikes and Jeff McMahon.

Honorary pallbearers are nurses and staff of DCH Regional Medical Center ICU, special friend, Dr. Norayan Krishnamurthy, MD.
