NORTHPORT - Eddie B. Parker Williams, 86 of Northport, died April 7, 2002 at Glen Haven Rehab and Nursing Center, Northport. Services will be held 12 noon Wednesday at New Zion Baptist Church in Northport. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park. TUSCALOOSA - Earl Garvis Burnette, age 80, of 3824 2nd Avenue E., died April 6, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from Memory Chapel. He is preceded in death by his father, Vernie L. Burnette and mother, Lois Inez Lawley.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Hudgins Burnette, daughter, Brenda J. Hughes (Lee), Clinton, Ala.; son, Michael E. Burnette (Rosemary), Cottondale, Ala.; sister, Mabel G. Harden (Ray), Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Darrin Hughes (Mandi), Lee E. Hughes (Meredith), great-grandchildren, Tyler and Faith Hughes, brother-in-law, Albert Hudgins (Edith), Birmingham, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He served in the U. S. Navy and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Shelby during the Battle of Okinawa. He was employed as a welder at B.F. Goodrich and retired after 42 years of service.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Darrin Hughes, Lee E. Hughes, nephews, Ronald Hinton, Jimmy Hinton, Buddy Hinton, and Tommy Hinton.
Honorary pallbearers are Retirees of Maintenance Dept. of BF Goodrich, Carter Arrington, Frank Roland, David and Joyce Pate, Gary Arrington, Ricky Arrington, Joe and Billie Grimes, Steve and Pam Crain, and friends and neighbors of Bailey Drive.
