MOUNDVILLE - Marie F. Abernathy, age 81, of 33953 Alabama Hwy 69, died May 28, 2002 at her residence. Services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. from Moundville United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Terry will officiate. Burial will follow in Havana Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state Friday one hour prior to service at the church. Oakhill Funeral Home is directing.
Survivors include daughter, Lynne Abernathy, Huntsville, Ala.; son, Lee Abernathy, Havana, Ala.; grandchildren, Brian and Heather Abernathy, Havana, Ala.
Marie Abernathy was a retired Hale County Educator and taught at Hale County High School for 50 years.
Pallbearers will be Danny Matherson, Ricky McClellan, Ronald Nevin, Joe Chancey, Sonny Ryan, and Randy Ryan.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Moundville Methodist Church Building Fund or the Hale County High School Library Fund.

CHICAGO, ILL.- Paul L. Guthrie, III, age 30, died May 26 at Rush Memorial Presbyterian-St. Luke Hospital in Chicago, Ill. following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 31 at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Vial Fontenot officiating. A private family burial service will be held following the memorial service. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
A native of Tuscaloosa, Mr. Guthrie was a graduate of Central High School and a 1995 cum laude graduate of Samford University. He was employed by Allstate Insurance Company, Chicago, Ill.

Kirby (Myra) of Russellville; grandchildren, Jason Marchant, Mark Marchant, Trent Kempster, Kelli Kempster, Letitia Culver, and Brian Culver.
