TUSCALOOSA - Evelyn Hudson Beck, 71, died June 1, 2002 at Heritage Health Care Center. Graveside services will be held in Little Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery, Tuesday at 11 a.m. M.L. Price will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Memory Chapel. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Murel W. Beck.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Langford (Don); son, Larry Beck (Susan); sister, Dorothy Porter; grandchildren, Heather and Heidi Beck.
Pallbearers will be Keith Porter, Eugene Porter, Dale Porter, Steve Hudson, Phillip Hudson, and Don Langford.
William Jackson Lawrence
NORTHPORT - A faithful servant was called home to receive his Heavenly reward today. William Jackson Lawrence, 90, of Heritage Health Care Center, died June 2, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at the Johntown Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Jones officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Gracie Marchant Lawrence and sisters Mary Cook and Nellie Cook and a brother, Byron Lawrence.
Survivors include his wife, Willie J. Lawrence, and children Jackie Boyd (Harvey, Jr.) of Brookwood, Linnie Corley (Harry) of Cottondale, Glenn Lawrence (Freda) of Cottondale, Lois Howard of Austell, Ga., Faye Caddell of Vance, Ann Pickett (Curtis) of Dallas, Ga., and Billy Lawrence (Molly) of Northport. He is survived by twenty grandchildren, Twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, aunt Lela Crawford, Uncle Quint Marchant, and other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lawrence was retired from logging and enjoyed gardening, handyman work, visiting the sick and doing for others. Friends and family members enjoyed listening to the many stories of his life. Each morning started with his daily Bible reading and he was a person grateful for any kindness shown to him. His favorite saying was "The Lord has been good to me".
Pallbearers will be grandsons Wade and Daryl Corley, Jerry Lawrence, Brad Lawrence, Bobby and David Howard, Andy and Charles Caddell, Bo McQueen and Jim Standifer. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. McDermott, Joanna Bundrum, Dr. Pridgen, Dr. Wesley Spruill and staff, faithful visitors Dan Turman, James South, and Jim and Doris Standifer, Manley Carr, Station 1 Nurses and staff of Heritage Health Care Center, special friends and caregivers Mike Rollins and Joe Webster, and friends of Holt, Vance and West Blocton communities.

TUPELO, MISS. - Mr. Earnest Lucas, 75, formerly of Sulligent, passed away Saturday June 1, 2002 at the residence. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Mattie Flynt and brother, Bobby Flynt.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Coker Jollit (William O.) of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Zadie Dunson of Eclectic, Lucille Cosby of Tallassee, Lena Norrell of Tallassee and Clara Magnon of Arlington, Va.; brothers, Thurman Coker of Tallassee, LeRoy Coker of Tallassee, Charles Coker of Crystal River, Fla., and Eugene Coker of Montgomery; grandchildren, Karen Jollit Brannan (Thomas F.) of Birmingham, William O. Jollit Jr. of Birmingham and Matthew Coker Jollit of Tuscaloosa; great-grandchildren, Patrick B. Brannan and Molly Rose Brannan, both of Birmingham.

Smith, Jr., (Camilla), Tuscaloosa and Steven Dale Smith (Connie), Tallahassee, Fla.,; mother, Frances Smith and grandson, Bailey Hubbard; stepson, Mathew Hopkins, several nieces and nephews and lifelong "sister" Doris Wise.
Kathy Sue Smith was called home to be with Jesus on June 5, 2002. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, friend and co-worker. She was truly loved by all who knew her.
Kathy was a member of Forest Lake Baptist church and worked for over 25 years for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Co.
