TUSCALOOSA - Flora House, age 75 of 3956 Shaw Drive, died June 7, 2002 at her residence. Private services were held Saturday June 8, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.. Dennis Avery officiated. Burial was in Memory Hills Garden with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas House, granddaughter Cindy Herring. Parents J. V. and Rosa Junkin, brothers Leon, Raiford, Billy and Bobby Junkin.
Survivors are daughter M.H. Donley; son William Jackson Herring; sisters, Geraldine (Jimmy) Hall, Cottondale; Ellen Cockrell, Northport. Brothers, Olen Wynell (Theresa) Junkin, Tuscaloosa; Jerry (Carolyn) Junkin, Akron. Two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A loving sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Her brothers and sisters apologize for the delay in this notification. But due to the suddenness of the death and burial proper notification was not possible during this, our time of sorrow.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Stephen Brown and his staff, DCH Health Care System, her beloved minister and his wife Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Avery.

DETROIT, Ala. - Roy Spruiel, age 96, died June 11, 2002, at the Pineview Health Care Center in Winfield. Services will be held 11 a.m. today, at the Chapel of Otts Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Detroit with Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent directing.
Sara H. Shirley
TUSCALOOSA - Sara H. Shirley, age 63, went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2002. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Rev. Willis Harbison will officiate. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Dewey Hartley and beloved sister, Mary Massey.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth W. Shirley; daughters, Karla (Kevin) Garner and Kelli (Lynn) Barger; sons, Gary Shirley and K. Gregg (Pam) Shirley; mother, Lurla Mae Hartley; grandchildren, Jennifer Shirley Colburn (Terry), Danny and Seth Barger, Susan and Paige Shirley, Kelsey Shirley, Kaleb, Karsten and Keaton Garner; and great-grandson, Mitchell Cardenas.
She was a loving wife, mother and nana.
Pallbearers will be Terry Colburn, Larry Englebert, Brooks Mouchette, David Massey, Dale Massey and David Rhyne.
Honorary pallbearers are employees of Miller Electric, co-workers of city and county schools and Woodhaven Church of the Nazarene.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Jean Rush, age 73, of 1606 Waverly Street, formerly of Millport, died June 5, 2002, at Mission de la Casa Hospital. Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Holly Grove Baptist Church in Millport. Burial will follow in church cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
Floy M. Permenter
NORTHPORT - Floy M. Permenter, age 75, died June 11, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 1 p.m. today, Chapel of Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Montgomery and Rev. Tony Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Bethabera Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
She was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Icie Permenter; sister, Ruvin Oswalt; brothers, James Permenter and Morris Permenter.
Survivors include sisters, Shirley Talley, Northport, Ivy McPherson, Northport, Mildred Mitchum, Northport and Nota Tracy, Tuscaloosa; nieces and nephews.
She was loved by everyone that knew her. She was loved by nieces and nephews like a second mother.
Pallbearers will be Randy Fondren, John Oswalt, Robert Phillips, Armond Swindle, Danny Malone and John Grimes.
Honorary pallbearers are neighbors of 22nd Street in Northport, Dr. Stephen Browne, Dr. David Hinton and Staff on 6th floor DCH.

TUSCALOOSA - Mamie Lee Williams of 5621 14th Avenue East, died June 7, 2002, at her residence. Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Elizabeth Baptist Church. Burial will follow in C S & B Society Cemetery in Jerusalem Heights with Williams Service Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
William W. Humphries
JASPER - William W. Humphries, age 83, died June 12, 2002, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, at Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw. Phil Bennett will officiate. There will be no visitation. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home will direct.
He was a veteran of World War II. He served on the City Council for Eutaw and was the president of Merchants and Farmers Bank in Eutaw for many years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Coleman Humphries Tait.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Aduston Meriwether Humphries of Jasper; two sons, William W. Humphries, Jr., of Jasper and John Jefferson Humphries of New Orleans, La.; two grandchildren, William W. Humphries III and Sara Frances Humphries; and brother, Charles Humphries of Montgomery.
Stephen "Steve" Alan Duncan
COTTONDALE - Stephen "Steve" Alan Duncan, 46, died June 10, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at Memory Chapel, Thursday at 4 p.m. Rev. Michael Seale will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
Survivors include his wife, Leisa May Duncan; daughters, Stephanie Duncan McCluskey (Brian), Stacie Duncan Fladstol (Jeremy), and Stormie Duncan; son, Matthew Ayers; parents, J.C. and Margie Duncan; grandmother, Vera Duncan; grandchild, Nathan Fladstol; son-in-law to be, Jason Falgout; and daughter-in-law to be, Sabrina Kirkland.
Steve was born January 6, 1956 in Tuscaloosa, and was a life long resident of the area. He was a member of Central Church of Christ and lived his life patterned after Jesus. He was employed as an electrician at Uniroyal Goodrich for over fifteen years. He believed strongly in Union policies, and was active in representing them. He was a proud member of IBEW Local Union #136 and Steelworkers Union Local #351.
He was a strong Christian man, a loving husband and son and a very devoted father. He was involved in all activities participated in by his children and particularly enjoyed softball. He as an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed fishing and wood working. He was enjoying his first grandchild and had many plans for him. He was a friend to all and will be missed but never forgotten.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Powell, Ronnie Fields, Richard Dyer, John Phillips, Jimmy Fincher, Tom Dukes, Barry Sloan, and David Fuller.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Steelworkers Local Union #351 and IBEW Local Union #136.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Central Church of Christ.

TUSCALOOSA - Andrew Millerden, age 80, died June 6, 2002, at Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Services will be held 12 noon Friday, St. Paul Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Van Hoose and Steele Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.

TUSCALOOSA - Billie Faye Hill Cargile, age 70, 937 Alberta Drive, died June 11, 2002, at her residence. Services will be held 10 a.m. today, Holten Heights Church of Nazarene with Rev. William Holley and Rev. George Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Cargile; mother, Cleo E. Hill; father, T. A. Hill; five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include twin daughters, Brenda Craig (Jack Craig) Anderson, Ind., and Linda Rodenberger (William Rodenberger), Nashville, Tenn.; sisters, Josephine Booth (L.C.), Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, James W. Hill (Melba), Tuscaloosa and Gene Hill, Gulf Shores; grandchildren, Jeremy Jackson, Indianapolis, Ind., and Matthew Gamble, Montgomery.

Mikhail Y. Zaimah AKA (Billy L. Blackburn)
BIRMINGHAM - Mikhail Y. Zaimah, AKA (Billy L. Blackburn), was born to Mr. Fulwood Blackburn Sr., and Lena Mae Smith in Tuscaloosa, (deceased). He departed this life on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at his home.
He confessed hope in Christ and united with The Church of the Reconciler with Pastor Higgs, where he served diligently until he became ill.
He dedicated his life to his family, friends and reached out to lend a helping hand to so many people.
He leaves to cherish his memories and mourn his passing a loving sister, Penny F. Blackburn (William) of Tuscaloosa; a devoted brother, Fulwood Blackburn, Jr. (Linda) of Peoria, Ariz., one God-sister, Mildred Ellis (Jimmy) of Gordo; one nephew, Anthony L. Blackburn of Peoria, Ariz.; two special loveable aunts, Lucy Blackburn of Chicago, Ill. and Mary Cooper Smith of Tuscaloosa; very dear friends, Mrs. Millie Osborn (Gary) of Birmingham, Rebel Hanley of Birmingham; Mrs. Fanay Register (Ira) of Birmingham and a host of loving cousins and many good friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Ridout’s Southside Chapel, Johns-Ridout’s Southside Chapel directing.
