DUNCANVILLE - Herman Seale West, 60, of 11940 Skelton Road, died June 15, 2002 at his home. Graveside services will be held in Duncanville Cemetery, Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. Larry Barger, and Rev. Jimmy Jones will officiate. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Vedla West; and sisters, Evelyn Taylor, and Ann Barger.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie (Cook) West; daughter, Tammy Schryer (Kip), Tuscaloosa; sons, Todd West (Tammy), Duncanville, and David West (Tina), Tuscaloosa; sister, Faye West, Cottondale; brother, Wade West (Gail), Cottondale; grandchildren, Garrett West, Caleb West, Hannah Schryer, Austin Schryer, and Stacia West.
Pallbearers will be Tim Hubbard, Barry Rackley, Bobby Taylor, Ronnie Taylor, Mike West, Billy Jones, Jerry Jones, and Johnny Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are Family and Friends, Dr. Curtis Tucker, Staff of Hospice of West Alabama, and Dr. Summerford.

MOUNDVILLE - Mr. Climmie Ryans, 65, of 4472 Ramey Road, died June 12, 2002 at his residence. Services will be held at Shiloah A.M.E. Church, Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 1 p.m. Rev. TUSCALOOSA - James Edward Prewitt, age 78, of 2718 39th Court, died June 11, 2002, at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. Services will be held Monday, June 17, 2002, at 11 a.m. at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. E.J. James, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins’ Mortuary directing. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral time.

She is preceded in death by husbands, Elbert Price and Lawrence Sellers; son, Wilber Price ; grandson, W.M. Price ; and parents, Walter M. Taylor and Hattie M. Ingram.
Vera Lee Evans’ loving family and friend will miss her deep devotion to their comforts and needs. She is loved and leaves behind: husband, W.M. An angel in disguise, she was a member of The Tuscaloosa Gideons Auxiliary, The Fleetwood Baptist Church, and retired from Alabama Public Education System. A prayer for an angel to share my life was answered when Vera married me, but God called her for his staff. She was a true friend and devoted family leader.

TUSCALOOSA - Donald W. Holmes, 70, died June 15, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held in Memory Hill Gardens, Tuesday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Memory Chapel. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Holmes; father, Ward Holmes; grandson, Christopher Holmes; grandparents, William and Della Flowers, and Oliver and Lula Belle Holmes.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Ann Turner of Texas; sons, Stephen, Mark, and Frank Holmes, all of Texas; sister, Peggy Vitruk of Texas; mother, Elizabeth Leverton of Texas; grandchildren, Justin Turner, Mandy Holmes, Matthew Holmes, all of Texas, and Christina Holmes of Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Holmes served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean, and Vietnam Wars. He retired from service with honors. He was a graduate from Tuscaloosa High School, and an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Pallbearers will be Dan Burroughs, Emory Burroughs, Bill Flowers, Bart Ballard, James Smelley, and Alton Lewis.

Frances F. Alexander
PELL CITY - Frances F. Alexander, 80, died June 16, 2002. She was born in Linden, Ala. on October 27, 1921. Attended Green County High School in Eutaw, Ala. and held her first job as a waitress for Johnny Lemoins in Tuscaloosa, Ala. She was married to the late Paul G. Alexander and they were married for 54 years. She was quite an entrepreneur owning several businesses during her working years. Those included are a child’s nursery, shoe repair and leather goods store, and a thrifty store. After retirement she worked a few years as a sitter for the elderly. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and had many friends in her church family. Funeral services will be held today, June 19, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in New Hope Baptist Cemetery, adjoining the church. Paul Brasher officiating. Mrs. Alexander will lie in state at the church from 2:30-3:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by husband, Paul G. Alexander, Sr. Survivors: sons, V. James Foust and Paul G. Alexander, Jr.; grandchildren, Justin Foust, Melissa Foust, Ashley Alexander, and Amber Alexander; brother, William H. Haywood; sister, Jessie H. Gravett. Bessie Allen Mansfield
ALICEVILLE - Bessie Allen Mansfield, age 85, of 107 6th Street SE, died June 16, 2002, at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Services will be held 2 p.m. today, Aliceville First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Cooley and Rev. Larry Potts officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Columbus Allen and Clarence Mansfield and son, Jimmy D. Allen.
Survivors include daughter, Sharlotte Fitch (Phillip) of Aliceville; sons, Larry Allen (Jane) of Opelika, Alton Allen (Nancy) of Middletown, Md., Max Allen (Linda) of Aliceville and Harold Allen (Schere) of Round Rock, Texas; sisters, Helen Baines of Green sboro and Frances Etheridge of Luling, La.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mansfield was born May 23, 1917 in Gordo, Alabama to the late William Vester Poole and Ruby Maudine Jones Poole. She was a homemaker and a member of Aliceville First Baptist Church where she was active in the W.M.U., the choir and the Outreach Ministry.
Pallbearers will be Joe Wood, Thomas Pate, William Hill Hayes, Ted Ezelle, Jr., Johnny Colvin, Milton Noland, Sr., Tommy McKinstry and Bud Spiller.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Dale Robbins, Maggie Day Sunday School Class, Sunshine Club, staff and management of Aliceville Nursing Home, The Park Miller Post 4767 of the Ladies Auxiliary, The VFW Post and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Lucas.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alonzo "Sonny" Hudson, Christy A. Pate, Lewis and Mildred Hudson, Leland Driver, Hartney Duffy, and Limuel Pate.
Survivors include his parents, Jeremy and Shelley Hudson Pate; grandparents, Phyllis D. Hudson, Dwain and Beth Pate, all of Gordo; great grandparents, Doris Duffy and Mildred Driver, both of Gordo, and Reda Mae Pate of Elrod, Ala.; a number of aunts and uncles.
