Millport - Mrs. Mildred Fowler Christian, age 85, died August 3, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center Northport. Services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. from Millport Baptist Church. Rev. Benton Goodman and Rev. J. C. Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in Vernon City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at church. Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport directing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Ed Christian, granddaughter, Leigh McAdams, mother & father, Lester & Arie Brasher Fowler, and brother, Ralph Fowler.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara C. (Donald) McAdams, Millport; brother, Arvil (Mary Ann) Fowler, Harriman, Tenn.; granddaughter, Leslie (Scott) Cole, Millport; great grandsons, Russ & Dave Cole, Millport; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Christian was a devoted daughter, mother, sister and grandmother and a faithful friend to all who knew her. She was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren, nieces and nephews as Mil-Mil and mama Chris. She was a faithful member of the Millport Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers will be Russ Cole, Dave Cole, James Fowler, Gary Fowler, Steve Morgan, and Jerry Sparks.
Ronald Wayne Glass
GALLION - Ronald Wayne Glass, 48 of 482 Lake View Hills South, died August 5, 2002 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Arrangements will be announced later by Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis.
Dennis Woods, Jr.
TUSCALOOSA - Dennis Woods, Jr., 62, of 5775 McFarland Blvd. E. Apt. 17A, died August 4, 2002 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held in Memory Hill Gardens, August 7, 2002 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Woods; brother, Chad Woods; mother, May Rhea Roberts; and grandparents, Dow and Nola Roberts.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Woods of Tuscaloosa; son, Dennis Woods of Tuscaloosa; brother, Gary Saunders of Valdosta, Ga.; grandchildren, Kelsey Diane Woods, Dennis Makae Woods, and Millan Gene Woods; uncles, aunts, and cousins- the majority of which reside in and around Lebanon, Tennessee.
Dennis Woods, Jr. was a loyal son, brother, and friend. He was a big hearted man who would go out of his way to help a friend of family member.
Born in Lebanon, Tenn. to Dennis Woods and May Rhea Roberts. He worked with and was trained by his father to be a mason. He owned his own business- Woods Masonry for many years.
He was married and had two children; Dennis Steven and Tammy Denise Woods. He has three grandchildren; Kelsey Diane, Dennis Makae and Millan Gene Woods.
He was ill for several years before his death. He was loved by his family and friends and will never be forgotten.
Warren Lee Simpson
ELDRIDGE - Warren Lee Simpson, 66, died Monday, August 5, 2002. Services will be held at Miles Funeral Home Chapel, Friday August 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery in Eldridge. Mable Wallace
WEST BLOCTON - Mable Wallace, 70 passed away August 5, 2002. She was a member of Camp Branch Baptist Church in Grey Hill, Ala. where she was an active member and taught Sunday School. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Service Bessemer. Visitation will be Wednesday August 7, from 5 until 8 p.m. Presiding minister will be Herbert Chapman and Bobby Boles.
She is preceded in death by an infant son.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, James E. Wallace; daughters, Sandra Holman (Danny) of Brookwood, Rhonda Stocks of West Blocton and Greta Townsend (David) of Hueytown; son, James Dale Wallace of West Blocton; sisters Flora Allen of West Blocton, Pauline Brasher of Bessemer and Dixie Oglesby (Jimmy) of McCalla; brothers Robert Vining (Shirley) of West Blocton and Ray Vining of Brent; eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Livingston and sister, Gladys Murphy.
Survivors include daughter, Lynis L. Davis, Tuscaloosa; brother, Louie F. Tillery, Columbia, Ala.; grandchildren, Lindsey Alexis Davis, Tuscaloosa, Hillary Paige Davis, Tuscaloosa; other relatives are niece, Lilla M. Jones and nephew, David Tillery.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Sebron Channell and Mack Channell; father, Victor F. Channell and mother, Olean Channell.
Survivors include his sister, Frances Booth of Buhl; brother, Leland H. Channell (Levenia) of Buhl; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Victor was retired from Gulf States Paper Mill. He was a life long cattle farmer.
Active pallbearers will be Ronald Anders, Geoffrey Love, Gene Booth, Scottie Turner, Billy Wayne Skelton and Wade Gilliam.
Honorary pallbearers are Sispey Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., friends and neighbors.

Ronnie was a native of Demopolis, Ala. and a resident of Demopolis, Ala. He graduated from Demopolis High School and worked for Alabama Power Company for many years. He was also a girl’s softball coach for a number of years.
Pallbearers will be Charles Abrams, Dale Smith, Louis Padilla, Butch Mayo, J.B. Qualls, Donnie McGee, Terry Wallace and Joe Crepps.

Wendell Holmes Elliott
TAYLORS, S.C. - Wendell Holmes Elliott, 85 of 3 Kimberly lane, died August 5, 2002 in Green ville, S.C.. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. today in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Charley Patten officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Sam and Annie Elliott.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Herman Elliott; daughter, Kathy Elliott Patten; son Dr. Wendell Elliott, Jr.; sisters, Ruby Nell Shattuck and Guinevieve Elliott; brothers J.T Elliott and Sam Elliott; grandchildren, Matt Elliott, Bill Elliott, Laura Curlin, Sarah Howell; great-grandson, Reid Curlin.
Wendell was a graduate of the University of Alabama with an engineering degree. He worked for Schlumberger Oil Services for over 30 years. Wendell served in the U.S. Army in WWII and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He is now a resident of heaven.
