TUSCALOOSA - Grover Brown, 61, died March 1, 2001, at his home. Services will be at Memory Chapel on Sunday at 3 p.m. with Cullen Williams and John Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is today from 2-4 p.m. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Goldie Brown; children, Patricia and Timathy; brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie; daughters, Jeanette, Tina and spouse, Carl Thomas, and Teresa and spouse, Jeff Tucker; sister, Frances Turner; brother, Bill, Louis Merlee Brown; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Tucker, Carl Thomas, Amon Griffin, Paul Griffin, Craig Jones, Wesley Watts and Joey Watts.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.

Willie M. Cabbil
TUSCALOOSA - Willie M. Cabbil, 74, of 2617 39th Ave. N.E., died Feb. 23, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services were held Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church. Dr. J. Herbert Spencer officiated. Burial was in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins’ Mortuary directing.
Fannie L. Whitt
Fannie L. Whitt, 70, died March 8, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Complete arrangements will be announced at a later date by Williams Service Funeral Home.
Mattie Lou Plott Wilson
Mattie Lou Plott Wilson, 103, 8637 Rosemont Drive, died March 5, 2001, at Health Center of Pensacola, Fla. Services will be at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Croft officiating. Burial will follow in Center-Springs Cemetery in Gordo. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wilson was born in the Flatwood Community south of Gordo on April 7, 1897. She had a 45-year-long career in public education beginning with a teaching job at the Kirk Community One-Teacher School. She attended Livingston Normal School in the summers, receiving her first-grade certificate and graduated from The University of Alabama with her B.S. degree in education. Mrs. Wilson taught for six years at Piper in Bibb County and moved to Carrollton to live with and care for her mother, Kitty Plott. She retired in 1956 after teaching 23 years at Carrollton elementary and high school. She then moved to Northport with her sister, Mary Plott Mullins, where she was active in the Northport First United Methodist Church, the Present Day Study Club, Spice of Life Club, United Methodist Women, Kings Daughters Sunday School Class and the Tuscaloosa Retired Teachers Association.
Then in 1993, at the age of 96, when she could no longer live alone, she moved to Pensacola, Fla., to live with her niece and her niece's husband, Marion and Don Caton.
Mrs. Wilson was an inspiration to many students, friends and her family. She loved and was loved by all her knew her.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Margaret B. Hunt
MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - Margaret B. Hunt, 89, a homemaker, died March 17, 2001, at Tandem Health Care in Melbourne. Margaret was born in Tuscaloosa County, Ala., and came to Brevard County in 1979 from Tuscaloosa, Ala.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Meritt Island. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and David Alexander. Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Hunt.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Heritage Chapel. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Hodley E. Colvin Jr.

Sybil McCool Ellis
TUSCALOOSA - Sybil McCool Ellis, 78, of 3026 Freemout Drive, died March 27, 2001, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park on Thursday at 3 p.m. with Hospice chaplain Lauralee Estes officiating. Visitation will be at the cemetery one hour prior to the service. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas M. Ellis; sister, Mary Katherine Vance; and father, F. W. McCool Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Lee Anne Ellis of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Pauline McCool Stallworth of York; brother, Fred McCool Jr. of Bessemer; and mother, Betty McCool of Tuscaloosa.
She was a graduate of Bessemer High School and a graduate of the Alabama College for Women (now the University of Montevallo). She was a member of the Alpha Thursday Study Club and was secretary at the time of her death.
Pallbearers will be Joe Stallworth, Ed Hooten, Herbert J. Ellis, Don Richardson, Billy Powell and Tom Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are friends on Freemout Drive.

Lenora Patridge Swail
TUSCALOOSA - Lenora Patridge Swail, 84, of 25 Parkwood, died April 3, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Charles Durham officiating. Burial will be at Centreville Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. Magnolia Chapel South Funeral Home is directing.
Mrs. Swail was born in Brent. She graduated from Bibb County High School and Auburn University with a degree in home economics. She taught school for a number of years and later worked as a dietician at Marianna Air Field Hospital, where she met and married Dr. Clark Swail. She worked as a home economist with Alabama Gas Company, taught at the University of Alabama and worked with social services at Partlow State Hospital. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa Women Circle No. 2, various clubs and civic organizations, Altrusa, Chi Omega, The Clionian Study. She was active in many civic and community projects.
The family will also be at the home at 25 Parkwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the George A. Swail Endowment Trust Fund at First Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Bob Nelson, Steve Patridge, Steve Kimbrell, Chris Jones, Kirk Dobbins, Christopher Meigs, Pat Smith and Bob Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers are Altrusa, Women's Circle No. 2 of First Presbyterian Church, Woodrow Boyd, George Boyd and Jeff Beans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Clark E. Swail Jr.; son, George Swail; mother, Lenora Patridge; father, George Patridge; brother, Harmon L. Patridge; and sister, Wanna Mae McLaren.
She is survived by her son, Clark E. Swail III (Cheryl) of Tuscaloosa.
