TUSCALOOSA – Trannie Bell Thomas, 88, 418 Crescent Lane, died April 3, 2001, at Northport Medical Center. Services were Thursday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Church. Burial followed in Parker Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Boothe officiated. Sunset Funeral Home directed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Thomas Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Henry L. Thomas Sr. (Lorene) of Cottondale and James L. Thomas (Flora) of Holt; grandchildren include Jerry Lee Collins (James) of Northport, Robert Lee Thomas (Tammy) of Tuscaloosa, Sylvia L. Thomas of Moundville, Henry L. Thomas Jr. (Kristie) of Cottondale, Desiree Thomas and Michael Thomas both of Cottondale. She was also blessed by numerous great-grandchildren and life long friends.
Pallbearers were Windle Jacobs, James Collins, Robert Lee Thomas, Henry L. Thomas Jr., Dewayne Collins and Henry Hudgins.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Craig Brettner, Dr. Michael Johnson, Tony Thomas, Derrick Williams and Karen Davidson Group Home in Coker.
Dennis Thomas
COTTONDALE – Dennis Thomas, 24, of 13860 Morrison Lane, died March 30, 2001, at his residence. Services will be held at New Covernant Church, where Dr. E.L. Rickles is pastor, on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Willie Davis officiating. Burial will be at Brookwood Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon until 7 p.m. at Wills' Funeral Service, Inc., the directing funeral home.
Gregory Steven Tashe
TUSCALOOSA – Gregory Steven Tashe, 30, went to be with The Lord April 4, 2001. He passed away at Northport Medical Center. Born Jan. 19, 1971. Gregory attended Brookwood High School. He voiced that he felt that Victory Assembly of God was his home church. He had also been active in Teen Challenge for 10 months.
Services will be at Heritage Chapel on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Pippins officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth Tashe and Jack and Florence Swick all of Welch, W.Va.
His survivors include his mother, Patty Tashe; father, Steve O. Tashe and grandfather, Steve Tashe all of Tuscaloosa. His daughter Taylor Nicole Tashe of Moundville and son, Alexander Blake Tashe of Roanoke, Va. Greg will be missed and was loved by many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Randy Fondren, Michael Fondren, Scott Barron, James Jones Sr., James Jones Jr., Kenneth Kent, Randy Mosley and Ricky Stevenson.
Honorary pallbearers are the Friends and Staff of Warrior Services Inc.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a trust fund set up for Greg's children at Victory Assembly of God in Tuscaloosa.
Albert Stepter Jr.
TUSCALOOSA – Albert Stepter Jr., 79, of 1920 40th Ave., died April 1, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at First Community Methodist Church on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Henry L. Green officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park. Visitation is today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Druid Funeral Home is directing.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Wilson Stepter of Tuscaloosa; sons, Anthony W. Stepter of Tuscaloosa and Albert Stepter III of Huntsville; grandchildren, Toni Stepter Harris of Richmond, Va., Gerrell T. Stepter of Ontario, Calif., Amber K. Stepter and Ashley D. Stepter, both of Tuscaloosa; one great-grandchild; one brother, Leonard Stepter and stepmother, Estell Stepter.

NORTHPORT – June R. Reach, 52, 3865 Brentwood St., died April 5, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Jerry Deasy officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be at tonight from at 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Magnolia Chapel of Northport is directing.
Survivors include her husband, Brooks A. Reach; two sons, Martin D. Reach and Eric D. Reach both of Northport; sister, Sharon James of Tuscumbia; two brothers, Harold Willingham of Muscle Shoals and Neal Willingham of Tuscumbia; mother, Mildred Willingham of Tuscumbia.
Pallbearers will be nephews.

TUSCALOOSA – David Arthur Noland, 56, of 1000 Field Crest Drive, died March 30, 2001, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at Family Worship Center in Aliceville on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Rodney Hedrick officiating. Stabler-Robbins Funeral Directors is directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elene Noland; and brother, Joe M. Noland.
He is survived by his sisters, Betty Johnson of Aliceville, Martha Oneal of Cottondale and Jewelene Pearson of Aliceville; brother, Charles E. Noland of Tuscaloosa; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Elder Frank McMullen
TUSCALOOSA – Elder Frank McMullen, 78, 2841 24th St., passed away April 3, 2001, at his residence. Services will be Saturday at noon at New Home Church of God in Christ. Bishop O.L. Meadows will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins' Mortuary directing.
Survivors are a loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Lucille McMullen of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two daughters, Lillie McMullen and Carol Elaine Greene (William Richard) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three sons, Frank McMullen Jr., Edward McMullen of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Leotis McMullen (LuJuan) of Roanoke, Va.; two sisters, Elizabeth Kelly, Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Lillie Edwards (Albert), Holt, Ala.; one brother, James R. McMullen (Annie), Cleveland, Ohio; nieces, nephews a host of other relatives and friends.
Elder McMullen founded and Pastored The New Home Church of God in Christ from 1968 until his passing of April 3, 2001.
He will be in Parlor A at Rollins' Mortuary today from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Services are tonight at 7 p.m. at New Home Church of God in Christ. He will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral time.

PANOLA – Eula Howard, 73, died March 30, 2001, at Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian, Miss. Services will be at Zion Valley Baptist Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Anna Lou Free
GORDO – Anna Lou Free, 81, 4970 County Road 57, died April 5, 2001, at Salem Nursing Home. Services will be at Skelton Funeral Home Chapel today at 3 p.m. with the Rev. James F. Posey officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove "Bump" Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Fannie Stein Watkins; husband, Daniel Hobson Free; son, Gilbert Free; daughter-in-law, Louise Free and two infant daughters.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Shirley (Howard) of Gordo, Ala.; sisters, Gladys Free of Northport, and Elma Kelley of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Tim and Denise Shirley, Kerry and Lynn Shirley, all of Gordo and Kim and David Getzinger of Houma, La.; great grandchildren, Drew, Jordan, Brent (Brandi), Barett and Brook Shirley all of Gordo, Justin and Lindsey Getzinger of Houma, La., step-great grandchildren, Kayla and Kody Adrian of Gordo; special neighbors, Kannie Mae and Wayman Woolbright and Lewis and Laverne Lowe.
Mrs. Free was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and she was lovingly known to all as "Granny." She was a retired dietician for Pickens County Medical Center where cooking was the love of her life.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Hargrove and New Hope Communities, staff of Salem Nursing Home and Pickens County Medical Center.

GREENSBORO – Azaline Burrell, 87, died April 3, 2001, at Hale County Hospital in Green sboro. Services will be at Larkin and Scott Funeral Chapel on Saturday at noon with the Rev. Wilson Bolden officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Faunsdale. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Stella Rowan Wellborn
TUSCALOOSA - Stella Rowan Wellborn, 92, of Bedford Place, died April 5, 2001. Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church today at 4 p.m., followed by a burial at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with the Rev. Michael Wyckoff officiating. Mrs. Wellborn, a native of Jacksonville, lived in Atlanta prior to moving to Tuscaloosa in 1972. She was a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church and numerous civic and community organizations.
She is survived by three granddaughters, Stella Wright Martin, Camille Wright Brannon and Maxine Wright Hudson, all of Atlanta; three grandsons, Robert Harris Shaw III of Birmingham, William Wellborn Shaw and George Levings Shaw of Tuscaloosa; sister, Rose Rowan Kilby of Anniston; niece, Daisy Weller Smith of Jacksonville; nephews, T. Weller Smith of Gainesville, Ga., and George Kilby of Anniston.
Mrs. Wellborn is also survived by sons-in-law, Judge George Searcy Wright and Robert H. Shaw Jr. of Tuscaloosa. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bethune Wellborn and two daughters, Stella Wellborn Wright and Maxine Wellborn Shaw.
Pallbearers will be Judge George S. Wright, Robert H. Shaw Jr., Thomas E. Martin III, Wade H. Brannon, Edward H. Hudson, Robert H. Shaw III, William W. Shaw and George L. Shaw.

Samuel Columbus Tooson
MOUNDVILLE - Samuel Columbus Tooson died April 2, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Inez Tooson of Moundville; two sons, Samuel Clark Tooson (Sigrid) of Idar-Oberstien, Germany, and Darren Demetrius Tooson of Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Audrey Tooson and Oritha Tooson, both of Moundville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Tooson (Rosie) of Ypsilanta, Mich.; two sisters, Maxine Bates of Ypsilanta, Mich., and Nannie Mae Collins of Bessemer; 12 nephews; 15 nieces; and host of other relatives and friends.
Flora Lee Taylor
BERRY - Flora Lee "Peaches" Taylor, 78, 20938 Joe Taylor Road, died April 5, 2001, at her residence. Services will be at New Hope Baptist Church today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Max Stripling and the Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the church and the family will receive friends after the service. The church location is Hwy 42 North to county Road 12, turn left and go to the church sign on the left. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North is directing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bessie Taylor; brother, Freedman Taylor and two sisters, Buna Bell Taylor and Alta Mae Pearson.
Survivors include her nephew, Ted Pearson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three nieces, Freida Taylor of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Charlotte Hocutt of Northport, Ala., and Paulette Watson of Berry, Ala., eight great-nieces and nephews; 12 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are Donnie Watson, Dale Watson, Darren Watson, Mark Pearson, Jay Pearson, Randy Hocutt, Greg Hocutt and Byron Averette.

Allen Patterson officiating. Visitation is tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. She is preceded in death by her husband, John T. Moseley.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty M. Dunn (Ted, Sr.), Gallion, Ala.; son, John R. Moseley (Polly), Gallion, Ala.; sisters, Sara Wilkerson, Mattie Ree Walker and Ruth Weatherly all of Chickasaw, Ala.; grandchildren, Donna Barkley, Gulf Shores, Ala., Johnny Moseley, Gallion, Ala., and Ted Dunn Jr., Gallion, Ala.; eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Moseley was a native of Putnam, Ala., and a long time resident of Gallion. She was a retired grocery store owner and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Moseley, Ted Dunn Jr., Scott Barkley, John Moseley III, Anthony Moseley and Charles Hayes.
