WINFIELD - Bobby Gene Sandlin, 70, died May 12, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be at Miles Funeral Home Chapel today at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Miles Funeral Home is directing.

Margaret Patton Williamson

TUSCALOOSA - Margaret "Sal" Patton Williamson, 26 Cherokee Hills, died May 13, 2001, at home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Williamson.

Survivors include two daughters, Anne "Pat" Harris (Jim) of Huber Heights, Ohio and Kay Phillips (Jeff) of Germantown, Tenn.; one sister, Christine Chancy (James); three brothers, Leon Patton (Mary Alice), Frank Patton (Mary Jo) and Park Patton (Carolyn) all of Tuscaloosa; five grandchildren, David Harris, Deborah Stover, John Harris, Hunter Phillips, Ethan Phillips and seven great grandchildren.

Margaret was born in Ralph, Ala., on June 17, 1920. She worked for the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education for 35 years as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and The Athenia Study Club.

Graveside services are at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park today at 4 p.m. with Dr. Charles Durham officiating. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing the service. The family will receive friends at home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Jordan Fund, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 900 Green sboro Ave., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 or Hospice of West Alabama, 1800 N.E. McFarland Blvd., Suite 310, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406.

Margaret Nix Thomas

NORTHPORT - Margaret Nix Thomas, 48, 12010 Plum Drive, died May 15, 2001, at Northport Medical Center. Services will be at Magnolia Chapel of Northport on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Fuller, the Rev. Hayse Moss and the Rev. Sarah Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral

home. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport is directing.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Nix Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy C. Thomas; daughter, Sarah Thomas; step-son, Jason Thomas; mother, Bobbie Nix Boggs and step-father, Donald E. Boggs; three sisters, Charlene Davis, Sharon Stewart and T.C. Griffin; two brothers, Charles L. Nix Jr. and Tim Nix; father-in-law, the Rev. Dewey Thomas and mother-in-law, Ruby Thomas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Sandra Sharpe and James and Sharon Farley.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Davis, Jeremy Nix, Justin Nix, Matthew Nix, Aaron Griffin, Shaun McAteer and Dwight Barger.

Honorary pallbearers are Employees Cardiology Consultants, Dale and Carolyn Pack, Jack and Jennifer Kuykendall, Faye Taylor, Sue Wall, David and Christy Brelove, employees and staff Cancer Care Center, Northport Internal Medicine, Kathy McAteer, Linda Barger, Shirley Thomas, the Rev. Ed Boothe and members of New Beginnings Worship Center Double Portion Church.

Margaret was a loving and giving mother, sister and wife. The Lord welcomes home his good and faithful servant. She appreciated all the prayers, support and act of kindness throughout her illness. Her faith sustained her and now that same faith will sustain all of those that love and cared for her.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to New Beginning Worship Center Double Portion Church.

Author Edward Sanders

NORTHPORT - Author Edward Sanders, 92, Hwy 171, died may 13, 2001, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Services will be at Tuscaloosa South Church of Nazarene on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Sunset Funeral Home is directing.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nora Lee Sanders; daughter, Frankie White; son, Buck Barret.

Survivors include his daughters, Lynda Ballenger, Tuscaloosa, Faye Hall (Peter), Northport and Shirley Riley (Travis) Coker; sons, David Sanders Sr. (Betty), Cottondale, Ray Sanders Sr. (Elaine), Cross Plans, Tenn., and Bobby Sanders (Bonnie) Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Jewell Patterson, Tuscaloosa; brother, Bill Sanders, Lakeland, Fla.; 29 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Evie Lee Barrett of Holt, son-in-law, Micky White of Moundville.

Mr. Sanders was a long time member of Northport Church of Nazarene.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are Forrest Manor Nursing Home, Peterson Church of Nazarene, Tuscaloosa South Nazarene, New Life Church of Nazarene of White House Tennessee, Christ Church of Nashville, Tenn., former members of Northport Church of Nazarene.

Buford Ray Deavours

BANKSTON - Buford Ray Deavours, 79, 6364 Hwy 13 N., died May 15, 2001, at Fayette Medical Center. Services are at Cleveland Church of Christ on today at 4 p.m. with Miles Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-4 p.m. at the church. Nelson Funeral Home is directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Nell Deavours; sons, Ray Steven Deavours, Danny Herschel Deavours and Randy Moore Deavours; sisters, Nell Mueller and Dupree Simpson; brothers, Rayford Deavours and Spurgon Deavours; seven grandchildren and one great grandchildren.

He was a member of Cleveland Church of Christ. He served as an elder. He was a veteran of WW II Where he served in the U.S. Air Force.

Pallbearers will be James Odom, Glenn Bowles, Terry Moore, Mike Moore, Eddie Moore and George Simpson.

Rev. Allan R. Watson

TUSCALOOSA - Rev. Allan R. Watson, 78, 276 Cedar Crest E., died May 17, 2001, at his residence. Services will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport is directing.

Thomas White

TUSCALOOSA - Thomas White, 82, 2816 21st St., died May 13, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be at Antioch Baptist Church on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Pierce Washington Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hulls Cemetery. The body will lie in state today from noon until 7 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to funeral time. Williams Service Funeral Home is directing.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Emma White.

Survivors include four daughters, Miller Dee (Hosie) Seal and Ethel Lee both of Huntsville, Ala., Carrie Lee White and Belle (James) Taylor-McGhee both of Oakland, Calif.; two sons, Thomas (Nina) White Jr. of Bridgeport, Conn., and Garry T. White of Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Rosie Lee (Jake) Howard, Annie Lou Frierson and Mattie Louise Washington all of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brother, Hayes (Magnolia) White Sr., of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Itear Wilson

REFORM - Itear Wilson, 92, Hwy 17 South, died May 17, 2001, at Estes Health Care North. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Graham Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.

Daniel Earl Perry Jr.

COALING - Daniel Earl Perry Jr., 50, 10678 Lower Coaling Road, died May 14, 2001, at Jim Walter Mine #4, Brookwood. Services are at Magnolia Chapel South today at 2 p.m. with Mike Seale and Norman Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Magnolia Chapel South is directing.

Survivors include his wife Kay Wheeler Perry, Coaling; daughter, Rachel L. Perry, Coaling; sister, Diane P. Thomas (Cliff), Coaling; brother, Randy Perry (Linda), Sevierville, Tenn.; parents, Earl and Myrtle Perry, Coaling; mother and father-in-law, Max and Josie Wheeler; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Michael Brinyark, Eddie Brinyark, Rick Geddie, Fleet Simmons, Richard Dyer and Homer Perry.

Honorary pallbearers are Co-workers, Jim Walter Mine #4, friends and neighbors of Coaling Community, Bart Latner Jr., Aubrey Perry , Michael Terry, Joy and Tommy Hale, members Central Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the College Ministry at Central Church of Christ.

Earl Williamson

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Earl Williamson, 75, a former native of Green sboro, Ala., died Jan. 1, 2001, at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Graveside services will be at Limestone Cemetery in Gallion, Ala., on Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Moore officiating. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis are in charge of arrangements.

Walter Lee Williams

TUSCALOOSA - Walker Lee Williams, 82, of 3523 35th Ct., died Jan. 4, 2001, at Northport Medical Center. Services are today at Trinity Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Gordo, Ala. Druid Funeral Home is directing.

Richard Weidenback

NORTHPORT - Richard Weidenback, 74, of 11172 House Bend Road, died Jan. 8, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be at Magnolia Chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Richards and the Rev. Lynwood Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport is directing.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Weidenback; daughters, Kay Lund (Tom) and Donna Weidenback; sister, Anna Marie Ewing (Joe); sister-in-law, Mabel Weidenback; granddaughter, Julia Lund.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marjorie O'Brian and Peter N. Weidenback and a brother, Charles Weidenback.

Mr. Weidenback was an employee of B.F. Goodrich for 43 years and has been retired for the past 10 years. He enjoyed the simple life and had a great love for nature. He was a loving husband, father and granddaddy and will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be Hilary Shirley, Al Askew, J.B. Acker, Jim Acker, Jim Thompson, Bobby Munkus, Ron Springer and Carl Marcum.

Honorary pallbearers are employees of B.F. Goodrich, friends and neighbors of House Bend Road and the Carroll's Creek Community.

Charles Aaron Snyder

TUSCALOOSA - Charles Aaron Snyder, 80, died Jan. 7, 2001, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Services will be Wednesday at 1st Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. with the Dr. Charles Durham officiating. Visitation with family will follow in Warner Hall. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, 10 a.m. Private Service. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Hill Snyder Hendrick and Charles A. Snyder Sr., Nashville, Tenn.; brother, John Roland Snyder, Nashville, Tenn.; and first wife, Rosalee Turner Snyder, Tuscaloosa.

Survivors include his wife, Jean O'Connor Snyder, Tuscaloosa; daughter, Sharon Snyder Pilsch (Frank), Tuscaloosa; sisters, Evelyn Snyder Pickney (Victor), New York, and June Snyder Anderson (Gaines) Nashville, Tenn.; brothers, Albert Douglas Snyder (Virginia) Nashville, Tenn., and Hillman George Snyder (Shirley) Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Erin and Turner Pilsch, Tuscaloosa; aunt, Sarah Hill Martin, Nashville, Tenn.; extended family, Frances Morgan and husband, John of Atlanta, Bill O'Connor and wife, Cathy of Montgomery, Talty O'Connor and wife, Diane of Gulf Shores, Julie O'Connor of Nashville, Michael O'Connor and wife, Donna of Montgomery, Shep O'Connor of Tuscaloosa, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Snyder was born in Nashville, Tenn., a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Captain in the U.S. Corp of Engineers, European Theater of Operation, Founder and/or President of numerous corporations throughout Alabama and Florida including: Dixie Steel and Supply Company, Southern Heat Exchange Corp., Tuscaloosa Warehouse Corporation, and Coral Industries, Inc. He most recently served as consultant, Engineer and Managing Partner of Moletec Corporation.

His commitment to the needs and advancements of the community had a profound effect on the citizens of Tuscaloosa County. He served on the board of directors of First National Bank of Tuscaloosa, New Southland Insurance Co., Security Federal Savings and Loan, Druid City Hospital, North River Yacht Club, and the University of Alabama Commerce School Board of Visitors. In addition, Snyder served as president of the following organizations: Associated Industries of Alabama (the current Business Council of Alabama), Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa, the United Fund of Tuscaloosa, the Greater Tuscaloosa Chamber of Commerce, the Metropolitan Board YMCA, the Tuscaloosa Rotary Memorial Foundation and the Black Warrior Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In recognition of his leadership Snyder was asked to serve as District Governor of Rotary International and as Commissioner for the City of Tuscaloosa Planning Board and of the Park and Recreation Authority of Tuscaloosa.

He was honored by the Civitans as a recipient of the Tuscaloosa Citizenship Award and by the Greater Tuscaloosa Chamber of Commerce as the Man of the Year. For his efforts in rescuing a young boy from drowning in the Cherokee Hills Lake, Snyder was awarded the Medallion from the National YMCA Aquatic Committee.

Laurence S. Woodley, MD

TUSCALOOSA - Laurence Stephenson Woodley, MD, age 88, of 120 The Highlands, died May 18, 2001. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dr. Charles Durham officiating. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy H. Woodley, Sr., son, Laurence S. Woodley, Jr.; and brother, Robert H. Woodley, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Bagwell Woodley; daughter Ann Woodley McGiffert (David); brother, Leroy H. Woodley, Jr.; grandchildren, Megan Woodley McGiffert and several nieces and nephews.
