TUSCALOOSA - Mrs. Mariah L. Cunningham, of 2924 35th Ave., died Jan. 6, 2001, in the Park Manor Nursing Home. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. from Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. Vernon Swift will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins’ Mortuary directing.
Surviving relatives include her mother: Mrs. Essie Cochrine Wallace, Aberdeen, Miss.; one daughter, Mrs. Virgie Greene (Jesse), Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two brothers, Monroe Lee and Monroe Sydney Wallace Jr., Chicago, Ill.; three granddaughters, Joycelyn, Jessica and Arlisa Greene, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one great-grandson, Kirin Greene, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Three special neighbors and friends: Mrs. Barbara Covington, Mrs. Lula Bell Tucker and Mrs. Georgia Harris.
She will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral time.

TUSCALOOSA – Harvie Franklin, 56, of 4000 17th Street N.E., died May 28, 2001. Services will be held at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, May 30, 2001, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Hill and Pastor Junior Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Big Hurricane Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6-8, at Heritage Chapel.
He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Franklin; his mother, Bitha Franklin; and a daughter Angela Franklin.
Survivors include a daughter, Shelly Earnest, Cottondale; sisters, Rosa Oates, Centerville, Eleanor Kelly, Buhl, and Bertie McCraw, Tuscaloosa; a brother, Samuel Stephens, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Geneva Earnest, Cottondale, James Hughes Earnest IV; a very special sister-in-law, Mary Stevens, a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Oates, John Stephens, Jr., Jimmy Whaley, Hugh Stevens, John Rich Norris, and George Leonard. Honorary pallbearer will be Neil Barrett.
Ruth McGiffert Eatman
EUTAW – Ruth McGiffert Eatman, 96, of Eutaw, Ala., died May 27, at LaRocca Nursing Home in Tuscaloosa.
Mrs. Eatman was a lifelong resident of Eutaw, the community she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Hall McGiffert and Alma Smith McGiffert, her sister Julia Monnette McGiffert Johnston and her husband, Andrew Baker Eatman, all of Eutaw.
Mrs. Eatman attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., and Woman’s College in Montgomery.
Mrs. Eatman is survived by her daughter, Anne Baker Eatman Kyle and son-in-law Leonard Christopher Kyle; grandson Leonard Christopher Kyle, Jr. and wife Shelley Morrissette Kyle, great granddaughter Ruth Eatman Kyle, great grandson Leonard Christopher Kyle, III; grandson Andrew Baker Eatman Kyle and wife Anne Rudolf Kyle, great granddaughters Marie Rudolf Kyle, Sarah Eatman Kyle and Marilyn McGiffert Kyle, all of Tuscaloosa and her niece, Deane Johnston Colson (Mrs. Warren), of Eutaw, two great nephews Gordon Colson (Missie ) of Meridian, Miss., and Fred Colson (Vickie), their children Jeanie and John, all of Eutaw.
Graveside services for Mrs. Eatman will be held in Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw at 4 p.m. today. Dr. Bruce Garris of the First Presbyterian Church of Eutaw will conduct the service. Friends will be received following the service at the White-McGiffert-Colson home at 314 Mesopotamia Street in Eutaw.
Pallbearers will be Deacons and Elders of the First Presbyterian Church of Eutaw. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home will handle arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Eutaw, P.O. Box 553, Eutaw, AL 35462, or a favorite charity.
Albert Roland McCool
TUSCALOOSA - Albert Roland McCool, 81, died May 28, 2001. Services will be held at Memory Chapel on Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at 2 p.m. , with the Dr. Ervin Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 p.m., at Memory Chapel.
He is preceded in death by John D. (Red) McCool.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Inell McCool; sons, Joseph E. McCool, James R. McCool, and Phillip K. McCool; sisters, Avie Lou Abernathy, Montevella, Alene Worth, Jackson, Mich., and Mary Lee Johnson, Fayette; brothers, Thomas Eugene McCool, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Willie Max McCool, Morris, Ala. ; grandchildren, Traci Lane Burns, Kelly Dawne Rice, Amy Gale McCool, Quinton Devon McCool, Whitney Lynn McCool, April Nicole McCool, Brian Christopher McCool, and Preston Evan McCool.
Mr. McCool was a veteran of World War II, he was also an employee of Alabama Power Company for 39 years and four months.
Pallbearers will be Thomas McCool, Max McCool, Don Jones, Claude Flowers, Thomas Wade, Rayford Bridges, Tom Peters, and Doug Brown.
Honorary pallbearers are Gus Wade, Employees of Alabama Power Company, and members of Pastors Class of Alberta Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Alberta Baptist Church or Hospice of West Alabama.

BROOKSVILLE – Mr. Willie Joseph Glover, 32, of Brooksville, Fla.; a former native of Gallion, Ala. passed May 26, 2001 in Cullman. TUSCALOOSA - Lila Beatrice Meadows, age 76, of 2619 6th Court, died May 29, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dr. John Tatum officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Meadows and son, Arthur Mallory Meadows.
Survivors include a son, Michael C. Meadows of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Lois Snipes, Brent, Gracie Miller, Cottondale, Inez Vick, Tuscaloosa and Oneida Binion, Eutaw; brothers, Ellis Caddis, Clinton and Earl Caddis, Duncanville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Thomas Charlton Smith, Jr.
FAYETTE - Thomas Charlton (T.C.) Smith, Jr., 85, of 2646 Hwy 171 South, died May 28, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held at Fayette First Baptist Church today at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Greg Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens, with Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Greer Smith, Fayette; his daughter, Phyllis Smith Watson, Amelia Island, Fla.,: his son Thomas Charlton Smith, III, Calhoun, Ga.; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smith attended Auburn University, received B.S. degree from the University Of Alabama. He married Gayle Greer on March 7, 1942. He served in the Air Force and was a pilot in WW!! Stationed in N. Africa. He later served in the Air National Guard in Birmingham with the Rank of Brigadier General. He was a member of Bankston Baptist Church and active in the Fayette First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Buster Grimsley, Bo Renfroe, Junior Lowery, Paul Thomas, Charles McGahey, Joe Acker, Alva Grimsley, Jimmy Gullett, William Oswalt, and Arnie Howell.
Marion Smith
NORTHPORT - Marion Smith, 91, of 7410 Hwy. 43 North, died May 27, 2001, at D.C.H Regional Medical Center. Services will be at Magnolia Chapel of Northport, today at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dewey Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Goodwater Cemetery, in Tuscaloosa County. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport directing.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Madge Smith Beasley; and a son, James Gordon Smith.
Survivors included his wife of 71 years, Elma Christian Smith; a son, Walter Ray Smith, Northport; brothers, Paul (Lucy) Smith, and Vester Smith, both of Northport; sisters, Katherine (Don) Mohr, Northport, and Christine (Junior) Creel, Calif.; six grandchildren, Cindy Beasley (Eddie) Fulmer, Lindy Beasley Noland, Joey (Robin) Beasley, Jony (Karrie) Beasley, Michael Smith, and David (July) Smith; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was in Business for seventy years , he owned Northport Fruit Stand, Riverside Steak House, Holiday Lodge Motel, and Smith Marina and Dry Dock.
Active pallbearers will be Joey Beasley, Jony Beasley, Michael Smith, David Smith, Josh Smith, Jonathon Smith, Kevin Noland, and Nicholas Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Beasley, J.C. Shepard, Mrs. J.M. Bolton, Dr. Stephen Browne, Teresa Smith, Wanda Smith Pate, nurses of Northport Medical Center I.C.U. and Rehab, Bobby McWilliams, Laura Evans, Frank Gray, Scott Crafton, and Owen Brown.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Mayton, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Betty K. Mayton, Demopolis; daughter, Vickie M. (Dan) Wilson, Demopolis, son, Kim (Barbara) Mayton, Demopolis; five grandchildren, Ben Mayton , Demopolis, Rob (Kimberly) Mayton, Demopolis, Emily Mayton, Boulder Colo. , Leah Wilson, Alburn and Charlie Wilson, Demopolis; one great-grandson, Cole Mayton, Demopolis.
Mr. Mayton was a native of Lindon, Ala. And a resident of Demopolis Ala. for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Demopolis, and Demopolis Rotary Club. He owned several private businesses in Demopolis for over 50 years, and on the Board of Directors of Commercial Bank of Demopolis and the Auburn Alumni Board. He also served in the Phillipines during World War II.
Honorary pallbearers are, Board of Directors of Commercial Bank of Demopolis and Demopolis Rotary Club.
