VANCE - Gladys L. Rolen, 83, died July 30, 2001 at Estes Nursing Home, North. Services will be held at the chapel on Wednesday, August 1, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Danny Glover and Rev. Dennis Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
She is preceded in death by his husband, James Rolen; parents, Roscoe and Dora Nicholas; sisters, Glenda Parsons and Ethel Pritchard.
Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Walton, Jimmy Walton, Harold Mathews, Hal McFerrin, Kenneth Mathews and Brian Mathews.

George L. Hinton
TUSCALOOSA - George L. Hinton, 80 retired Farmer and Lumberman, died July 28, 2001 at Glen Haven Nursing Home. Private Graveside services were held on Monday at Little Sandy Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Bennett officiating. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is directing.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Glenn Green , George Green , Larry Howell, Hinton Howell, Sam Hall and Patton Chancy.
Donald Gene "TC" Clunan
TUSCALOOSA - Donald Gene "TC" Clunan, 53, died July 29, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held at First Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Dr. Ken Dunivant and Rev. Eric Bagwell officiating. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Clunan.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Clunan of Tuscaloosa; son, Brent (wife, Chrissie) Clunan of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, James E. (Nancy) Clunan of Brandon, Miss., William Gary Clunan of Andalusia; uncle Harold Clunan of Sandersville, Miss.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of West Alabama.

UNIONTOWN - Earnest Tanner, 86, Franklin and Broadway Street, died July 31, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held at Kidd-Robbins Chapel on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Pete Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Ella White Cemetery, Uniontown. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Tanner; parents, Willie White and Mamie Tanner; three brothers, Cain, Lee, James Tanner; two sisters, Edna Hill and Ethel Armstrong.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Calhoun, Uniontown; son, Larry Wayne Tanner, Merritt Island, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Hines, Huntsville, Mary Lee Boren, Demopolis; brother, Willie White (Dick) Tanner, Mobile; grandchildren, Kaye Calhoun Garrett, Bradley Tanner, Whitney Tanner, Decatur; Karen Calhoun McKelvy, Bailey Town, Ala., Luke Calhoun, Wetumpkia, Stephanie Tanner, Wichita, Kansas, Brian Tanner, Birmingham; Lisa Waller, Merritt Island, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Kimberly Williams, Brandon Williams, Hunter McKelvy.
He was a native of Cuba Alabama and was employed by P. R. Mallory Manufacturing Co., in Huntsville Ala., and lived in Uniontown, Ala.
After his retirement he was a member of Uniontown Baptist Men's Sunday School Class and a member of the C.C. C. Construction Corp.

Otha Mae Pate
NORTHPORT - Otha Mae Pate, 75, of #27 Northgate Circle, went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Wayne Bruchey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport is directing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Milton Pate, Sr.; two brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter.
Survivors include five daughters, Willie Mae (Wayne) Smith, Tuscaloosa, Betty Jean Porter, Coker, Susie (Joe) Welester, Guin, Martha (Mike) Haygood, Moundville, Bell (Junior) Stevens, Moundville; five sons, Howard (Ruth) Smith, Duncanville, Nelson (Regina) Smith, North Carolina, Thomas (Barbara) Pate, Jr., Northport, Robert (Sheila) Pate, Northport, Claude (Samantha) Pate, Gadsden; one brother, Earl Moxley, Oregon; 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pate, known best "Granny Pate" to most, was a lifelong member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her.

CARROLLTON - Franklin Roosevelt Wright, 68, 999 McDaniel-Pate Road, died August 2, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at Marvin Chapel Methodist Church, Saturday, August 4, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Billy Ray Oden and Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform is directing.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Faye McDaniel Wright, Carrollton; daughter, Susan Wright Simpson (Ken), Reform; sons, Frankie Wright (Renee) New Hope, Miss., Buster Wright, Carrollton; sister, Lorin Wright Akin, Carrollton; brothers, James Handley Wright, Pickensville, Alonzo Wright, Caledonia, Miss.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Wright was an active member of Marvin Chapel Methodist Church serving our Lord as a leader in his community and surrounding areas. He was concerned for people's spiritual needs and with the winning of lost souls for his Lord and Savior. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and those who knew him.

Lorene June Nelson
FAYETTE - Lorene June Nelson, 87, 1282 Co. Rd. 89, died August 2, 2001, at her residence. Services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church today at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Hopkins and Rev. David Cullison officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state from one hour prior to service (1-2). Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette is directing.
Survivors include her daughters, Kate Miller, Fayette, Sandra Lowery, Carbon Hill, Nona Sullivan, Winfield; sons, Banks Nelson, Dwight Nelson, Doyle Nelson, Ned Nelson, Robert Nelson, Jacky Nelson all of Fayette, Jerry Nelson of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., sister, Clois Grissett, Flomation; 20 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
She was married to the late Estes Louis Nelson for 65 years. Her parents were Green and Rilla Nichols of Fayette. Mt. Pleasant community was the life long home to her. Together Estes and Lorene raised 12 children. She played the piano for Mt. Pleasant Church during her active years. Home, family and God were the focal point that kept her active and a blessing to everyone that met her. She now resides with loved ones that home gone on before.

Andrew Taylor Johnson
UNIONTOWN - Andrew Taylor Johnson, 81, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at VA Hospital in Birmingham. Graveside Services will be held today at 2 p.m., in Pineland Memorial Cemetery (Military Honors) with Rev. Brad Bridges and Rev. Thad Hawkins officiating. Rockco's Funeral Home of Centreville, is directing.
He is preceded in death by his son, Lonnie Andrew Johnson; two sisters, Livini Riley and Willie Averette; his parents, Thomas and Susan Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Willner Johnson, Uniontown; one son, John Ford Johnson and wife Kathleen, Uniontown; two brothers, Pickens Johnson, Tuscaloosa, Thomas Johnson, Maplesville; two sisters, Gladys Moore, Centreville, Cluster Gill, Uniontown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Church of God of Uniontown. Member of VFW Post # 05377 Selma.
