TUSCALOOSA - Christine Stansell, 77, 1705 St. Charles Place, died August 3, 2001 at Morning Point. Services will be held at Memory Chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
She is preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Duke.
Survivors include her spouse, Mr. E. B. Stansell, Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Doris Panter (Bill), Birmingham; Diane Reid (Bill), Tuscaloosa; sons, Hugh Spiegel (Ruth) Henderson, Tenn.; Ken Spiegel (Mary), Tuscaloosa; Cary Spiegel (Jo Ann), Wetumpka; sisters, Pauline Greer, Geraldine Smith, both of Vernon, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Mitchell, Hubert Kessler, Bill Reid, Bill Panter, Barry Panter, Creighton Cannon, and Ken Livesay.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society or Northport Church of Christ Building Fund.

TUSCALOOSA - Leslie Anne Amos Presley, 46, died August 2, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel in Montgomery with Dr. Don Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Green wood Cemetery. Leak-Memory Chapel is directing.
Survivors include her husband, John William Presley, III, her son, John William Presley, IV, and her daughter, Brooklyn Summers Presley, all of Tuscaloosa; her mother, Helen Webb Amos, and her brother, W. Douglas Amos, Jr., and his wife, Karla, all of Montgomery. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Mrs. John William Presley, Jr., her sister –and brother-in law, Beth and Delton C. Holmes, and nephews Cy and Jay Holmes , all of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Leslie was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School and of The Capstone School of Nursing at the University of Alabama.
Pallbearers will be James Burley, Bruce Downey III, Gene Elrod, Simeon Penton, Jackie Pippin and James Solomon.
In lieu of flowers the family invites memorial contributions to Hospice of Montgomery, 1111 Holloway Park, Montgomery, Alabama, 36117.

Louise Hughes
TUSCALOOSA - Louise Hughes, 94, of 4720 M L King Jr. Blvd., died July 31, 2001 at her home. Services will be held Monday at 12 noon from Elizabeth Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Swift will officiate. Burial will follow in the William Special Care Cemetery with Rollins' Mortuary directing. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral time on Monday.
She is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Lula Mae Scarbrough.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Hughes, Sr., of Tuscaloosa; nine daughters, Annie Pearl Walker, Mamie Ellis, Hattie Jones, Voniecle Foster (Cleveland) all of Tuscaloosa; Margaret Ree Carter, Bettye Walker (James) of Erie, Pa.; Murrie Beverly of Anchorage, Ak.; Rosie Singleton (Sam) , Mattie Thompson (Billy) of Salinas, Calif.; five sons, Sam James Hughes, Tommie Hughes, Jr., Esaw Hughes, Bobby Hughes (Mattie) of Tuscaloosa, and Joe W. Hughes (Annie Mae) of Erie, Pa.; 45 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, 30 great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Flowerbearers will be her granddaughters and friends of the family.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sybil Burroughs Booth, sons, Jerry Booth (Carolyn), Tuscaloosa, Jerone Booth (Sandy), Northport; Jesse Robert (Bobby) Jr. (Suzanne) Tuscaloosa; brother, I.D. Booth of Buhl; sister, Olivia McCracken of Tuscaloosa; six grandchildren, Barbi (Gary) Skipper of Northport; Scott (Linda) Booth of Clanton; Jerone (Mark) Booth, Jr. (Mary Beth ) of Northport, Chris Booth (Marisa) of McCalla; Lindsey Booth and Barton of Tuscaloosa, seven great-grandchildren, Heather and Holly Skipper of Northport; Caley Booth of Clanton; Cole and Tyler Booth of Northport; Chelsea and Will Booth of McCalla.
Mr. Booth was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Tuscaloosa, employed by Gulf States Paper Corporation for 38 years.

HALEYVILLE - Jonathan (Joey) Alexander Shaffer, 19, of 2010 19th Avenue, Apt. #1, died August 4, 2001 at Carraway- Burdick West Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Tara Shaffer of Haleyville, Ala.; one daughter, Alexis Shaffer, Haleyville; one brother, James Aaron Shaffer, Florence; parents, Elizabeth Ann Dunn and James Dunn, both of Haleyville; grandparents, Hershal Fancher, Bud and Betty Dunn, father and mother-in –law, Marc and Connie Newell.
Joey was a member of the Baptist faith, an employee of Premdor Manufacturing of Haleyville and a former resident of Pickens County.

FAIRHOPE - Donald G. Porch Sr., 86, a native of Sylacauga, Ala., a former resident of Gadsden and Tuscaloosa, Ala., residing in Fairhope died Saturday, August 4, 2001 at his residence. Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, August 6, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Gardens, Tuscaloosa, Ala. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at 7:45 a.m. at Quail Creek Golf Club. Arrangements are by Wolfe Funeral Home, Fairhope.
Mr. Porch is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn DuPre Porch.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Donald G. Porch, Huntsville, Ala.; Brooks L. Porch, Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Caroline P. Hawkins, Mobile, Ala.; two grandchildren, Thomas E. McMillan III, Luci McMillan Ladd, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Ralph Douglas Porch Jr. and a special friend, Doris Kilzer.
Mr. Porch was a graduate of the University of Alabama, a W.W.II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, receiving the Bronze Star.
He was in the ice cream and paper business and worked for the University of Alabama. He was a former Rotarian in the Gadsden, Decatur and Tuscaloosa clubs. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Tuscaloosa, Ala., and a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Fairhope United Methodist Church building fund.

Trannie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother –in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love of God was exemplified as she unselfishly gave of herself to others in fulfilling their wants and needs above her own. Mrs. Jacobs also loved to cook. Her kitchen was open to anyone, anytime.
Honorary pallbearers are friends and family of the Shiloh Community.
Donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Jacobs to Shiloh Baptist Church.
