Pauline Grigsby
Pauline Grigsby, 96, of Bradford, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003.
She was a 60-year member of the First United Methodist Church at Bradford
and recently became a member of St. James First United Methodist Church in
Little Rock. She taught school for 33 years. At retirement, she was a high
school librarian and English teacher. She was a member of the Order of the
Eastern Star for 52 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Fletcher of Little Rock; eight
grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Bradford, with
interment in Calvin Cemetery in Alicia.

Stella P. Greene
Stella Pauline Greene, 85, formerly of Bogota, N.J., died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003.
She was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 5561
Auxiliary, Bogota.
She is survived by sons Henry T. and Dr. George S. of Las Vegas, and
Donald J. Greene, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) of Jacksonville; a brother, Arthur
Koliadko of E. Meadows, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret Weber of Rio Rancho,
N.M.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Feb. 11. Plans are being made for
burial in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial
Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J.
Donations to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
Ethel Brown-Greer
Funeral services for Ethel Lee Brown-Greer, 77, of Emerson, were held Feb. 8
at Mt. Israel CME Church in Emerson. Burial was in the Forrest Grove
Cemetery, also in Emerson.

Survivors include her children, Johnny L. Greer Jr. of Little Rock, Essie M.

Willivory Cherry
Willivory Cherry, 61, Jacksonville, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003.
Services were held Saturday, with burial in Brooks Cherry Cemetery.
Survivors are his parents, Plunkett and Jimmie Cherry of Jacksonville; one
daughter, Angela Felton of West Memphis; two sons, Raphael Cherry and
Eugene Cherry of Jacksonville; one brother, Eugene Cherry of McAlmott,
seven grandchildren.
Marie Temple
Marie Temple, 69, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003.
She retired from GTE and was a member of several organizations. She
belonged to the Eastern Stars, was a member of the Little Rock Police
Department CVIPS, Citizen Volunteers in Police Service and CPA, Citizens
Police Academy.
She is survived by her father, James Moran of Illinois; sister, Wanda Pitra of
Illinois; sons, Michael E. Edwards of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Kenneth B.
Temple of Sherwood; daughter, Earline McWhirter Byron of Jacksonville; five
grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 11, at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel,
followed by entombment in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Jimmy D. Adams
On Sunday, February 2, 2003, Jimmy D. Adams of Cabot, Arkansas, while
surrounded by his family entered into his new life in heaven.
He was born March 29, 1934, at Antioch, Arkansas, to Raymond and Lydia
Adams.
He lived in El Paso, Arkansas and attended school in Searcy.
Jimmy was a businessman, having Adams Pest Control of North Little Rock
and Adams Pest Control in White County.
He was a member of North Little Rock Lions Club; a former member of the
North Little Rock Rotary Club; Arkansas Pest Control and National Pest
Control Associations.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Jimmy lived his life as a
Christian man. The joy of his life was his family.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Alice Thornton Adams of
Cabot; one son, Tim Adams of Cabot; one daughter and her husband, Luann
and Geoff Wiggins of Atlanta; two brothers, Elmo and his wife, Sue, of West
Memphis and Glynn and his wife, Sylvia, of Bryant; his grandchildren, Esther
Smith and her husband, Ben and Rachel Wiggins, all of Atlanta and Timothy
and Jamie Adams of Cabot; one great-grandchild, Mary Alice Smith of
Atlanta.

Visitation was 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with
family receiving guests from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Church, Cabot, with burial in Rest Hills Memorial Park at Sherwood.
Mary F. Massey
Mary Frances Massey, 82, of Hot Springs, formerly of Sherwood, passed
away Feb. 6, 2003, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Guinn R. Massey Jr.
She was born Aug. 14, 1920, the beloved daughter of Robert and Rose Hart of
Arkadelphia.
She was retired in 1976 from the Little Rock Air Force Base as chief
telephone operator, having been employed since the base was opened in 1955.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Coast Guard.
She was a devout Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Hot
Springs. She was an active member of the Burwell Sunday School class. The
members of the Burwell Sunday School class were honorary pallbearers.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose constant
smile and optimism will always be cherished. She loved hunting wildflowers,
making porcelain birds and reading books.
She is survived by one son, Guinn R. Massey III, and his wife, Beverley of
North Little Rock; two daughters, Rosemary Watson, and her husband, Steve
of North Little Rock, and Julie Harris, and her husband, Chuck of Sherwood;
four grandchildren, Mike Massey and Keri Watson of North Little Rock,
Brandy Stricklin and her husband, Heath, and Andrea Lucas and her husband,
Bubba, all of Sherwood; four great-grandchildren, Haley Neal, Kylie Lucas,
Madeline Stricklin, and soon-to-be-born, Grayson Lucas.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 10, at First Baptist Church in Hot
Springs, with Dr. John McCallum officiating.

Ora Faye Bradley
Ora Faye Bradley, 78, of Beebe, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003. Four daughters,
Sandy Love, Jacksonville, Joan Love, Des Arc, Bonnie Battles, Austin, Kathy
Trotter, Jacksonville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive
her.
Services 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at Westbrook Funeral Home, burial in
Beebe Cemetery.
Leonard L. Kissinger
Leonard Loreal Kissinger, 79, died Feb. 16, 2003.
Survivors wife, Stella; two sons, Bobby and Michael; one daughter; five
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home chapel in
Morrilton. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery, by Bob Neal and Sons, Morrilton.
Frances L. Jones
Frances Louise Jones, age 82, of Jacksonville died Feb. 13, 2003.
She was a member of the First Assembly God in Jacksonville and longtime
employee of Jacksonville Elementary School working in the cafeteria.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Audrey P. Jones; one daughter,
Treva Mogish of Jacksonville; one son, Audrey E. Jones of Cabot; six
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 17, in the chapel of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral
Home.
Moses R. Franklin
Moses Roosevelt Franklin, age 83, of Jacksonville died Feb. 13, 2003.
Survived by daughter, Vivian Jones, Austin, Texas, Toni Lemmons, Shirley
Johnson; one son, Norman Franklin, all of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Wednesday, Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Jacksonville. Hubble

Denver Ray Gentry
Denver Ray Gentry of Sherwood died Feb. 16, 2003.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from
Southwestern Bell Telephone/AT&T with 36 1/2 years of service. As a former
Sherwood alderman for 10 years, he was active in city government, most
recently as director of the Public Works Department.
Survivors include his wife, Nan Gentry; daughters, Judy Gentry of Burke, Va.,
Linda Wilkins of Jacksonville, Susie Wortham of Little Rock, Mary Carole
Strother of McKinney, Texas, and Cora Gentry of Little Rock; brother, Wilbur
Gentry of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 20, at the Brockington Road Church of the
Nazarene. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery in Faulkner County.

John Henry McGill
John Henry McGill, 78, of North Little Rock died Feb. 13, 2003.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Gravel Ridge and a veteran of
World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bobbie McGill; son, Danny McGill of
Sherwood; daughter, Betty Ruple of Gravel Ridge; six grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home were
Feb. 16, at First Baptist Church Gravel Ridge.
George A. Haynie
George Alexander Haynie, age 86, of Bedford, Texas, died Tuesday, Feb. 11,
2003.
He was a Baseball, Basketball, and Track coach. He was in the National
Athletic Trainers Association and the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Hall of
Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanna Fourrier Haynie, of Grapevine, Texas; two
daughters, Diana Lyons of Little Rock, and Kirby Howard of Irving, Texas;
Paul Eckles; two sisters, Edith Gardner of Lincoln, Neb., and Alma Hoffman
of Hamlin, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

A Gathering in Remembrance of Mr. Haynie was held Feb. 15, in the Chapel
of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth with interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Johnny Lowery Jr.
Johnny Lowery Jr., 53, of Jacksonville died Feb. 13, 2003.
He was owner and operator of A-able and Willing Plumbing Inc. in
Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Lowery; daughters, Robyn Richardson of Little
Rock, Jessica Lowery of Jacksonville, Mikayla and Hope Lowery of the home;
one granddaughter; sisters, Cynthia Cunningham of North Little Rock and
Marianne Plaisance of New Orleans, La.

Funeral was Tuesday at Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville, with burial in

Elijah Jones, Sr.
Elijah Jones, Sr., died Feb. 17, 2003, He was a member of Free Will
Missionary Baptist Church. For many years he was a member of the Twin
Harmony Five Gospel Group. He was employed by the Little Rock Sanitation
Department until his retirement in 1986.
Survivors include seven sons, Robert, Albert, Wendell, and Elijah all of Little
Rock, Charles and Alvin of College Station, and Johnny Clark of San
Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Josephine Thornton of College Station,
Carolyn Ward of Jacksonville, and Cornelia Faye Willis of Moreno Valley,
Calif.; one brother, Jack Jones of College Station; 20 grandchildren, 24
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 22, at Mt. Nebo A.M.E. Church with
arrangement by Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home.
Alice Rawe
Alice Rawe, 93, of El Paso, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 16,
2003 at her home.
She was born May 3, 1909, the daughter of Charlie and Ethel Dennis Evans.
She is preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Joe Rawe.
She is survived by three sons, John Rawe of El Paso, AR, Charles A. Rawe of
El Paso, AR and Sam Rawe of Cabot, AR; four daughters, Ethel Loyer of
Virginia Beach, VA, Nellie Cleveland of Sherwood, AR, Alice McKenzie of
Arizona City, AZ and Mable Alexander of BelAir Beach, FL; two sisters,
Katherine Dixon of Greenwood, AR and Myrtle Harris of Michigan; one
brother, Arthur Evans of Jacksonville, AR.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, as
well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 19 at the Cabot Funeral Chapel.

Steve "Bill" Hooks, 76, of Conway, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003.
He was a retired truck driver, an Army veteran, a member of VFW, the
Masonic Lodge, and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Steve Hooks of Cabot; two daughters, Robyn
McCann and Kay Waters, both of Cabot; one sister, Virginia Brown of
Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral was Saturday at Oak Bowery Baptist Church with burial at Oak
Bowery Cemetery.
Rosie J. Evans
Rosie J. Evans, 50, of Little Rock, died Feb. 19, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Rickey Evans Sr.; her mother, Geanie Evans; one
brother, Robert Montgomery of Chicago, Ill.; four sisters, Jeanette Burns and
Betty Evans, both of Little Rock, Jerri Bishop of Jacksonville, and Cheryl Pearl

Franklin D. Martin, 61, of Fordyce, died Feb. 19, 2003.

Rock; three brothers, John Martin of St. Louis, Samuel Martin of San Jose,

Winnie O. Terry
Winnie O. Terry, age 78, a native of Rose Bud, former resident of Jacksonville,
and resident of Saraland, Ala., died Feb. 15, 2003.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Huskey of Mobile, Ala.; two
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Leo Griggs of Clinton, Miss.

Manuel Ortiz, age 52, died Feb. 27, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Antoinette; two daughters, Teresa and Victoria of

Kimberly Ann Meins
Kimberly Ann Martindale Meins, age 40, of Stuttgart died Wednesday.
She was employed at Mayflower in Stuttgart and was a Methodist.
Survivors are one son, Christopher Stephen Elliott of Stuttgart; two daughters,
Tasha Marie Raney of Casscoe, Christiana Amanda Elliott of Stuttgart; her
mother and stepfather, Edith and Doyle Long of Stuttgart; her father and
stepmother, Jessie and Mary Martindale of Jacksonville; one brother, Jessie
Martindale of Montana, Calif.; one sister, Stephanie Martindale of Stuttgart;
and two grandchildren.

Margaret Elaine Dean, age 59, of Jacksonville, died March 1, 2003.
She was a member of the McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville.
Survivors include her mother; three sons, Guy David Dean, Ronald G. Dean,
Russell G. Dean all of Jacksonville; two sisters, Marlene Stewart of
Jacksonville, Fla., Linda Robertson of Cabot; two brothers, Larry O. Church of

Dorothy Pullen, 90, of North Little Rock, died Saturday, March 1, 2003.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Rose City and a
retired department manager from Dillard s.
She is survived by her son, Vic Pullen of Jacksonville; two sisters, Emma
Brown of Little Rock, Kathryn Elkins of Baton Rouge, La.; four grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.
