Ruth Inez Randall
Ruth Inez Randall, age 72, of Mabelvale, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001.
She was retired from the Arkansas Children's Colony and was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Survivors include her son, Calvin Wilson Randall, Jr. of Alexander; three daughters,
Cecilia Vocque of Bauxite, Barbre Stringfellow of Mabelvale, and Romona Peters of
Jacksonville; brother, James Weed of Benton; sister, Louise Ulmer of Alexander; 15
grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial
at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Carolyn G. Hardin
Carolyn G. Hardin, 45, of Brinkley, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001.
Survivors are one daughter, Catrina Hardin of Brinkley; seven brothers, Chelc Hardin of
Little Rock, Charles E. Hardin of Sikeston, Mo., Robert Hardin and Larry Hardin, both
of Brinkley, Rufus Hardin and Neal Hardin, both of Pine Bluff, and Shelvie Hardin of
Houston, Texas; three sisters, Mary King of Little Rock, Doris Sneed of Jacksonville,
and Jackie Flowers of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1200
N. Main St. in Brinkley by Branscumb, Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home.
Angel Mills
Angel Mills, infant, of Benton, died Thursday, December 20, 2001.
She is survived by her parents, Scott and Nicci Mills of Benton; brothers, Tyler Mills and
Dylan Mills; sisters, Alazia Clark and Maya Mills; maternal grandmother, Nancy
Gallegos of Jacksonville; paternal grandmother, Mary Mills of Little Rock.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Dec. 22 at Riverwood Cemetery in Maumelle
with Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in charge. Memorials may be made to the Pediatric
Unit at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
Marvin Johnson, Sr.
Marvin C. Johnson, Sr., age 86, of Jacksonville, passed away Oct. 1, 2002. He
was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Erma (Morris ) Johnson; son, Marvin C.
Johnson, Jr.; daughter, Joyce Spann of Jacksonville; four brothers; four sisters;
five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in the chapel of Moore's
Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 Loop Road, with Rev. Ron Raines officiating.
Burial to follow in Bayou Meto Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. till 7 p.m.,
Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at the funeral home. Arrangements by Moore's

Raymond L. Wheeler
Raymond Lee "Ray" Wheeler, 75, of Tulsa, Okla., died Oct. 1, 2002.
He was a machinist and a member of the VFW in Jacksonville.
Survivors include sons, Keith Wheeler of Alma and Kevin Wheeler of
Colliverville, Tenn.; daughters, Gail Hay of Tulsa, Okla. and Taunya Wheeler
of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Oliver of Hot
Springs and Faye Shearer of Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral was Oct. 4 at Floral Haven Chapel, Broken Arrow, Okla., with
interment in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
Ray J. Langford
Ray J. Langford, 75, of Jacksonville, died Sept. 26, 2002.
He was born in Lonoke County, and was a member of the First Baptist Church
in Jacksonville. He served in the Navy from 1945-46, and retired from the
V.A. hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie Nailling Langford; a stepson, David Dennie
of Corpus Christi, Texas; a stepdaughter, Ruth Ketchum of Heber Springs; a
sister, Bea Ray of Brinkley; and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral was Monday at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood, with
interment in Hebron Cemetery in Lonoke County.

Judy May Patrick
Judy May Patrick, 48, of Hernando, Miss., formerly of Jacksonville, died Sept.
30, 2002.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nesbit, Miss.
Survivors include her husband, Rick Patrick of Hernando, Miss.; a daughter,
Jennifer Patrick Tilghman of Louisville, Miss.; a son, Jason Patrick of San
Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; parents, Dewitt and Shirley May of
Hernando, Miss.; a brother, John May of Memphis; sisters, Joy Kinman of
Jacksonville, and Janet Caldwell of Hernando, Miss.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m., Oct. 4, at First Baptist Church of Nesbit, with burial
in Nesbit Cemetery. Tilghman Funeral Home will be in charge.
Louie Teel McBee
Louie Teel McBee, 83, of Okeechobee, Fla., died Sept. 24, 2002.
Services were Wednesday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial
was in Bassett Cemetery in Bassett.
He was the owner/operator of Yorktown Dry Cleaners. He was a member of
the First United Methodist Church in Okeechobee, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Anna L. McBee of Okeechobee, Fla.; one
daughter, Charlotte Hunter of Harrison; two sons, Larry McBee of Memphis
and Mark McBee of Jacksonville; one sister, Evelyn Plass of Memphis; three
granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

John Shelton Byrd
John Shelton Byrd, 67, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002.
He was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and a Signal Corp
Army Veteran. He was self-employed in heating and air conditioning.
Survivors include a son, Barry Wayne Byrd of Little Rock; a daughter, Cheryl
Kay Miller of Jacksonville; and five grandchildren.

Billy Wray Lindsey
Rev. Billy Wray Lindsey, 67, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002.
Rev. Lindsey was the Associate Pastor of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist
Church. He retired from J.A. Riggs Tractor Co. and was a member of the
Free and Accepted Masons Branchville No. 256.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ethel Mae Lindsey; three daughters,
Angela Lindsey Sprow of Jacksonville, Betty Wray Taylor of Bryant and Jo
Michelle Pemberton of Little Rock; one sister, Mary Louise Fish of Pine Bluff;
two brothers, John Wayne Lindsey of Star City and Joseph Leon Lindsey of
Florence; and six grandchildren.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday, Sept. 28. Interment was in
Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Flora Mae Tolbert Akins, 46, of North Little Rock, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002.

Tolbert of North Little Rock; one sister, Cathy Tolbert Calaway of Atlanta, Ga.; seven
brothers, Brazile Tolbert of Menifee, Otis Tolbert and Donald Tolbert of North Little

Thelma L. Collins
Thelma L. Collins of Jacksonville, died Jan. 11, 2002.
She was an employee of Philander Smith College for over 16 years, and was a member
of the North Little Rock Mission.
Survivors are three daughters, Barbara Beavers of North Little Rock, Ella Graham of
Jacksonville and Faye Lambert of Sherwood; one son, Billy Collins of Little Rock; seven
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 19 at King Solomon Baptist Church. Services entrusted to
Gunn Funeral Home, Little Rock.
Doris Simpson
Doris "Louise" Simpson, 73, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Morris Simpson, Jr., one son, Kevin
Simpson; four grandchildren; and a brother, Calvin May of Manila.
She was a dress factory worker and a teacher's aid. After working with the Manila
School District for 21 years, she retired.
Services were Wednesday, Jan. 16, in the Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel with
interment in Rest Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Vernell Johnson
Vernell Owens Johnson, 79, of North Little Rock, widow of Theron Johnson, died
Monday, Jan. 7, 2002.
She was a former employee of Shepherd's Inc. and a member of Baring Cross Baptist
Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Johnson of Jacksonville, Van Johnson of Fairfield Bay;
five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with burial

Virginia Ellen Barker
Virginia Ellen Barker of Jacksonville, died Jan. 3, 2002.
She was a Presbyterian, and a member of the American Association of University
Women.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Barker Keathley of Gainesville, Fla., and her son,
Patrick Morgan Barker of Claremont, Calif.
A memorial service was Monday, Jan. 14, at the Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Central Arkansas or the First Presbyterian
Church of Jacksonville.
William Allen Pruett
William Allen Pruett, 56, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002.
He is survived by his mother, Delia Pruett of Jacksonville; three daughters, Cheryl
Tefteller of Texas, April Carter of Jacksonville and Angela Pruett of Little Rock; three
brothers, Jerald, Ray and John Pruett, all of Arizona; and four grandchildren.

Betty A. Detrick Ellis, 50, of Russellville, died Jan. 13, 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Kim Farrow of Jacksonville; three brothers, Howard

two grandchildren.

Ruth Jeannene Higgins, age 66, of Cabot, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2002.

Bessie Ann Wilson
Bessie Ann Wilson, 88 of Vilonia, born in Lonoke County, died Jan. 18, 2002 in Conway.
She was a homemaker and a member of Woodrow Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Mike Wilson of Vilonia; a daughter, Linda Cheney of
Jacksonville; a sister, Ila Foreman of Beebe; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services were Jan. 21 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway with Richard

Audrey Elizabeth Wildrick, 52, of Ward, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002.

Harriet Hilton
Harriet Hilton, 84, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, Jan. 16,
2002. She was a longtime resident of Jacksonville before leaving in 1996 to live with her
daughter.
Surviving are her daughter, Alice Margaret Hilton Totsch of Orlando; a brother,
DeWayne L. Tuttle of Joplin, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service was Tuesday at the National Cemetery in Little Rock by Moore s
Jacksonville Funeral Home.
Suzanne Tinkle
Suzanne Tinkle, 62, of Russellville, died Jan. 20, 2002.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Tinkle; sons, Tracy Tinkle of Russellville, Erie
Tinkle of North Little Rock; a daughter, Amanda Hodges of Ferndale; brothers, Howard
Womble of Jaacksonville and Wade Womble of Lonsdale; nine grandchildren.

Arthell Holland, 67, of Jacksonville, died Jan. 21, 2002.
He was a Baptist, retired employee of Rands Inc., and was employed by CSSI Inc. of
Little Rock.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Holland; two sons, Terry Holland of Jacksonville and
James Holland of Maumelle; five grandchildren; his mother, Icelean Holland of Hot
Springs; four brothers, Darrell Holland, Wendell Holland, Jerry Holland and Carroll
Holland; and three sisters, Eula Stolz, Etta Lee and Joyce Dukes.

Ivan Ward
Ivan Ward, 75, of Morrilton, died Jan. 21, 2002.
He was a retired supervisor from Crompton Arkansas Mills, a member of the Calvary
Baptist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge #105, Scottish Rite, and a 32nd Degree
Mason. He was an Army World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Cassity Ward of Morrilton; sons, Dennis Earl Ward Sr.
of Morrilton and Dwayne Ward of Jacksonville; brothers, Stanley Ward and Alive Ward,
both of Morrilton; a sister, Flo Hessellbein and Bervie Vint, both of Morrilton; four
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral was Jan. 23 at Harris Chapel. Masonic graveyard service was at Wolf
Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton was in charge.

Mary Lou Frank, 71, of Hot Springs Village, died Jan. 25, 2002.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Rodger L. Frank; her daughter Leslie A.
Epps of Jacksonville; and her son, Lester R. Frank of Little Rock.
She was a middle school English teacher, an advertising copyrighter for KARN and
KSSN radio stations, and a publicist for the Hot Springs Village Symphony Guild.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hot
Springs Village. A graveside service was held Wednesday at Pinecrest Memorial Park
in Little Rock.
