ADOLPH "CUB" BAER
Adolph "Cub" Baer, 73, of Benton, a retired policeman, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001. He was born April, 23, 1928 in Helena to the late Adolph and Estella Major Baer. He served in the Air Force from 1947 until 1950 and then attended Midwest Trade School in Denver, Colo. A short time later, he joined the Little Rock Police Department, where he was employed for 26 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees, taught Sunday School Class and sang in the Choir. It was also at Salem UMC that he and his wife began "Our Kitchen Ministry" that served meals in conjunction with Bible Study Classes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Rev. Joe Baer. Surviving are his wife of 50 years Elizabeth Rowe Baer; two sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Linda Baer of Little Rock and Donald and Lynne Baer of Bryant; two daughters and sons-in-law Susi and Jim Hildebrand of Stuttgart and Mary and Bill Stoecker of DeWitt; one sister-in-law Joan Baer of Osmond, Neb.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral was Monday, Oct. 22, at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kelso officiating. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home. NEAL PRESTON KINNEY
Neal Preston Kinney, 81, of Bryant, a retired Bryant teacher, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001. He was born Dec. 29, 1919 in Spadra. He attended and was a boxing coach at Arkansas Tech University and later graduated from the University of Arkansas. He was a Mid-South Golden Gloves Middle Weight Champion and runner-up National AAU Middle Weight. He served on the 206 Coast Artillery during World War II and retired from teaching agriculture, shop and science for 36 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents D.F. and Gertrude Kinney and his wife Syble Evans Kinney (who also taught at Bryant), and a brother Ragon Kinney. Surviving are a son Gary Neal Kinney of Midway; a daughter Gail Kinney Blevins of Little Rock; a sister Dana McDaniel of Kansas and six grandchildren. Funeral was Monday, Oct. 22, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church in Bryant with Rev. Bud Reeves officiating. A graveside service was held at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville. Ashby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Carl Douthit, Gary Kinney, Dana Kinney, Jesse Kinney, Robert Dudley and Matthew Blevins.

CHARLES FRANCE MARCRUM
Charles France Marcrum, 66, of Shannon Hills died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Marcrum of Shannon Hills; seven daughters Carol Matthews of Little Rock, Diane Cline of Ozark, Beth Almstrom of Haskell, Donna Sue Foreman of Jonesboro, Sharon Riddell of Benton, Debbie Gawrieh of Texas and Sheila Potter of Aly; two brother Ivan Marcrum of Little Rock and Eulas Marcrum of Benton; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Thursday, Oct. 25, at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel in Benton with Jeff Jones officiating.

RUTH ELAINE PETTUS
Ruth Elaine Pettus, 78, of Bauxite, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001. She was born May 11, 1923, in Plainview, to the late Ben and Janie Billingsley. She was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers Tom Billingsley and Bob Billingsley. Surviving are her husband of 57 years Louis Dillard Pettus; a son and daughter-in-law Dillard Wayne and Carolyn Pettus of Benton; a daughter Denise Pettus Ritchie of Bauxite; two brothers Bruce Billingsley of Benton and Calvin Billingsley of Alabama; three sisters Inez Hart of Benton, Nell Massey of Traskwood and Bennie Purifoy of Bauxite; a niece Kim Stout of Little Rock; four grandchildren Jacqueline Parker, Stacey Thompson, Wayne Allen Ritchie, and Nakia Ritchie; and two great-grandchildren Garrett Parker and Korie Parker. Funeral was Thursday, Oct. 25, at Sardis United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Burial was at McPherson Cemetery. Ashby Funeral Home of Benton was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Jim Crone, Bob Crowson, Sonny Molock, Danny Adams, Jeff Pettus, Tommy Hart, Dennis Massey and Delbert Massey. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Thomas, Dr. Baxley and Dr. Cartaya.

RUBY L. MEEKS MEYER
Ruby L. Meeks Meyer, 92, a long time resident of Alexander, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Carl Henry Meyer and a daughter Joan Meyer Huff. Surviving are two daughters Carlene Stephens and her husband Kenneth of Mabelvale and Patricia Cagle and her husband Chuck of Mount Ida; a son-in-law (Joan's husband) Jim Andy Huff and his wife Bobbie; a sister Bessie Turley of Levy; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held Thursday, Oct. 25, at Forest Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Arrangements were by North Little Rock Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Chris Huff, Eric Huff, Robbie Collie, Karl Stephens, Kevin Stephens, James Huff, Chuck Cagle, Kasey Stephens and Karlas Stephens. Honorary Pallbearer was Matt Huff.

WINIFRED LEWIS SPARKS
Winifred Lewis Sparks, 101, of Little Rock, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Presbyterian Village. She was born to the late Thomas and Anna Lewis, direct descendants to Fielding Lewis, Patriot, who married George Washington's only sister Betty. She was also related to Giddy Lynch, a cousin, the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence. She loved sharing family history and passed on many family photographs and documents. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband D.A. Sparks and their only daughter Annell S. McCorkle. She loved to travel and to spend time with her family. Before her stroke in February, she lived at Andover Retirement Center where she and her poodle, Peaches, had lived for 10 years. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and was always on the go, playing cards, bingo and other games on a daily basis. You would have never known her age. Until the age of 94, she was taking younger friends to the doctor and shopping. She loved flying, especially to Atlanta to visit her late brother, T. H. Lewis, for his birthday every September. (She never missed his birthday.) The last trip being his 98th before his death in December. Everyone on the plane sang "Happy Birthday" to her because she had just turned 100 that September. Winnie, as she was known by most, had a grand 100th birthday party at Andover with five generations of her family present and a host of friends. She danced and sang with the live entertainment. She is survived by a granddaughter Penny Waganer and her husband Larry of Little Rock; and a grandson, Dr. Don McCorkle and his wife Sheila of Gadsden, Ala.; five great-grandchildren Greenfield and her husband, Jay of Little Rock, Nicole Hathcote and her husband Wes of Bryant, Heath McCorkle and Ivan McCorkle, both of Alabama, and Brandy Howard of Bryant; and four great-great-grandchildren Megan Greenfield, Madison Greenfield and Trey Greenfield, all of Little Rock, and Shelby Hathcote of Bryant. Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 20, at Calhoun, Ga. The family requests memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood, Little Rock, 72207. Arrangements were by Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock.

CHANCY SPENCER BLAGG, SR.
Chancy Spencer Blagg, Sr., age 90, of Little Rock died Jan. 4, 2002. He was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church, a retired employee of Chicopee Mfg. Co., and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, F.M. and Cora Richardson Blagg, two brothers, Homer Blagg, who died in infancy and Chelcy Blagg of Minden, La., and a step-sister, Olive Gatlin of Benton. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Alice Blagg of Little Rock, his son Chancy S. Blagg, Jr. and his wife Berta of Maumelle, a daughter Mary Johnson of Hagarstown, Md., a step-daughter, Peggy Ross and husband Roger of Fort Smith, a step-son Sidney Southern of Little Rock; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his previous wife and the mother of his children Emma Blagg of Little Rock. Funeral services were held at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 7, with Bro. MONTILENE JACOWAY
Montilene Jacoway, 88, of Little Rock, formerly of Hot Springs, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003. She was born April 23, 1914, in Dustin Okla., to the late John and Betty Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Roscoe Jacoway; three brothers Arthur, Jim and Claude Brooks; and three sisters L.C. Hardage, Marie Robinson, Lovie Brooks. She was a Methodist and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She also enjoyed sewing and ballroom dancing. Surviving are a daughter Diane Jacoway of Alexander; and a sister Mrs. Tony Coffin of Durange, Colo. Graveside services were Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Memorial Gardens in Hot Springs. Arrangements were by Griffin-Leggett Forest Hills. The family requests memorials be made to Pulaski County Humane Society in Little Rock.

LARRY MAXWELL HOLLIDAY
Larry Maxwell Holliday, 63, of Alexander, retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years in airplane maintenance, died Saturday, Feb. 1, at his home. He was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to the late Clarence and Anna Lucille Holliday. Surviving are his wife Doris "Jeannie" Holliday of Alexander; son Danny Keith Holliday of North Little Rock; daughter Dottie Lucille Gann of Alexander; brothers Bill, Ken, and Gary Holliday; sisters Joyce Kaminski, and Linda Bishop; grandchildren Holly Hillman, Michael Gann, Camille Holliday and Kaylea Holliday. No local services were held. Memorial services were in Florida. The family requests memorials be made to the Watershed Food Bank of Arkansas or to Arkansas Hospice.

DENNIS L. DAVIS
Dennis L. Davis, 62, of Gulf Shores, Ala., a certified public accountant with his own business, Dennis Davis CPA firm in Hamburg for many years, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at his residence. He was a native of Crossett and raised in Hamburg. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1958 and graduated from Henderson State University in 1962. He was a former resident of Little Rock and of Gulf Shores, Ala., for the past 13 years, where he was a Charter Boat Captain. He was a member of the Lagoon Baptist Church in Gulf Shores and was preceded in death by his mother Betty Lanelle Courson Davis in 2001. Surviving are his wife Karen Byrnes Davis of Gulf Shores, Ala.; a son Ronnie Davis of Alexander; three daughters Lori Comstock and her husband Chris of Birmingham, Ala., Karla Davis of Mobile, Ala., Kristi Loyd and her husband Glen of Turrell; his father H.M. "Mutt" Davis of Hamburg; two brothers Bobby Davis and his wife Nancy of Hamburg, Don Davis and his wife Becky of Little Rock; three grandchildren Brandon, Chris and Kassie. Funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at the First Baptist Church of Hamburg. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. FRANK DAVID BARTLETT
Frank David Bartlett, 74, of Alexander, a retired employee from the Department of Agriculture after 42 years of service, died Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2003 surrounded by all his immediate family. He was the seventh of nine children born on Nov. 6, 1928, in West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorsey and Blanche Bartlett and his brother Bob. He attended Roosevelt-Wilson High School, received a Masters of Soil Science at the West Virginia Univ., at Morgantown, and received his Doctorate of Philosophy (major in Soils) from the University of Florida. He retired from the Department of Agriculture after 42 years and was a Mason of 44 years. He was an accomplished musician who enjoyed bluegrass, country and gospel music. He generously donated his body to science. Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years Dorothy; his sisters and brothers Jenneth, Vineta, Betsy, Cleo, Joe, Lois, Boyd; his sons Dan Bartlett, Mike Bartlett, Frank Bartlett, and Dwight Bartlett; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a God-daughter. Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Wayne Harper and best friend Jeff McIlory officiating. David requested an act of kindness be given in his memory, as simple as saying 'I Love You.' ROBERT L. STANTON
Robert L. Stanton, 82, of North Little Rock, a retired police captain, died Saturday, Feb. 28, after a brief illness. Born March 10, 1921, to the late Oscar L. and Nora Dickinson Stanton, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Muriel Puckett Stanton; brothers Jerry and Jimmy Stanton; and sister Margaret Robbins. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from the North Little Rock Police Department. Surviving are daughters Barbara Balentine of North Little Rock, Sharon Tuggle of Puyallup, Wash., and Carol Fullaway of Vilonia; sons Roger Stanton of Maumelle and John C. Stanton of Conway; brothers W.J. Stanton of Mabelvale and Rev. GERALD W. WATTS, SR.
Gerald W. Watts, Sr., 61, of Bryant went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004. Gerald was an honest man who was known as a person who would do anything for anyone. He loved to live life to the fullest, loved music, but most of all loved his two sons and his family. His parents, Homer and Gladys (Venable) Watts, and two brothers, Edward (Junior) and Milton Watts, preceded him in death. Surviving are sons Wayne Watts, Jr. and wife Leslie of Lawton, Okla., Doug Watts of the home; three grandchildren Kristen, Jacob and Caleb Watts all of Lawton, Okla.; sisters Wanda Brown of the home, Louise Ferris of Bryant, and Shirley Smith of Little Rock; and a host of family and friends. RUTH JANNETTE MCGINLEY
Ruth Jannette McGinley, 61, of Sherwood, a sales clerk for Fuller and Sons Hardware for many years, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2004. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward C. and Virginia Bridgeman Moser; sister Judy Phillips; child Judy Lee; and grandchild Dana Louise. Surviving are her husband of 43 years Don McGinley of Sherwood; son Craig McGinley and his wife Sherry of North Little Rock; three daughters Helen Huitt, of McRae, Dottie and husband James Shaffer of Sherwood, and Thekla McGinley of Bryant; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother Lawrence Moser; two sisters Virginia Burgess and Annette Souheaver. ROLAND DAVID STUART
Roland David Stuart, 71, of Prescott, a retired plaster instructor at Ouachita Job Corps in Hot Springs for over 25 years, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Prescott, to Robert David and Vida Blanche Copeland Stuart. He was a Mason, a Baptist, a member of Plasters Local Union and Howard Creek Hunting Club, Prescott, and an Army veteran. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Surviving are one son Sammy Stuart and his wife Wendy of Alexander; three daughters Peggy Cline and her husband Jason of Redfield, Gwen Denton and her husband Jim of Redfield, Amy Yarbrough and her husband Chris of Springdale; one sister Wanda Stewart and her husband Roy of Benton; nine grandchildren Dustin Stuart, Amber Stuart, Heather Hill, Tracey Taylor, Holly Watson, Crystal Smith, Sheree Brewer, Abigail Cline and Chloe Yarbrough; and one great-grandson Brennan Brewer. MICHAEL THENNES
Michael Thennes, 74, of North Little Rock, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church for 40 years, DAV, The Chosen Few, Elks Club, and German American Club. He was from a family of 13 with three sisters and one brother surviving him. He and his wife, Virginia, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December of 2003. Surviving are his wife Virginia; three sons Mark Thennes and Michael Thennes, both of Alexander, and Karl Thennes of North Little Rock; three daughters Ramona Gwin of Virginia Beach, Va., Lisa Canady of Conway and Paula Foster of North Little Rock; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral was Monday, March 1, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Rosary was Sunday, Feb. 29, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.

ETHEL TODD GRIFFIN
Ethel Todd Griffin, 84, of De Valls Bluff, passed away Wednesday night, Feb. 25, 2004 in Tupelo, Miss. Born July 10, 1919, to Clarence and Emma Todd Griffin of De Valls Bluff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Golda R. Griffin, two brothers and one sister. She worked for 15 years at Brinkley Mercy Hospital and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in De Valls Bluff. Surviving are two sons Richard and wife Eva Lee Griffin of Cabot, Bob and wife Pam Griffin of Bryant; one daughter Loretta and husband Amos Lawman of Tupelo, Miss; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral was Sunday, Feb. 29, at Westbrook Funeral Home. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery in DeValls Bluff.

RICHARD L. NICHOLSON
Richard L. Nicholson, of Bryant, born Jan. 8, 1945, in San Antonio Texas, to Jack and Billie Lou Nicholson, died Feb. 22, 2004, shortly after his 59th birthday in Bryant. Richard was a 26 year employee of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Surviving are his two sisters Linda Honeycutt of Alexander, and Sharon Blair of Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral was Saturday, Feb. 28, at Mission Park South, San Antonio, Texas.

BRUCE E. ATKINS (CHAMBERS)
Bruce E. Atkins, 22, of Mabelvale, went to be with his Lord on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004. He was a graduate of Bryant High School and was a member of Martindale Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jake and Vernnie Williams. Surviving are his parents Jerry and Margaret Chambers; two brothers Robert Atkins and Ronald Atkins; three sisters Bridget Ellison and husband Kerry, Teri Chambers and Ashley Chambers; grandparents Milburn and Rosetta Chambers; and a host of other relatives and friends. JAMES O. SIBERT
James O. Sibert, 76, of Haskell went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004. He had been in St. Joseph?s Hospital in Hot Springs. He was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Jonesboro, to the late Marcus A. and Dixie Shults Sibert. He was a Baptist minister, previously owned and operated the Pines Drive-In in Benton, and had worked in the transportation industry. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by daughter Alice Faye Sibert; and brother Dan Sibert. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Hazel Sibert of Haskell; six sons and daughters-in-law James O., Jr. and Toshiko Sibert of Bryant, Paul and Doris Sibert of North Little Rock, Danny Wayne and Ranee Sibert of Alexander, Ronny and Teddie Sibert of Mabelvale, Steve and Pam Sibert of Benton, and Terry and Brandy Sibert of Haskell; sisters Betty Colvin and Luann Kirkland, both of Des Arc; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and the extended Hensley Family. LYNNETTE HUGHES
Her Lord and Savior received Lynnette Hughes, 36, in Heaven on Feb. 22, 2004, after a two-year courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 10, 1968 in Sacramento, Calif., and lived in Benton. Her greatest joys were her husband, sons, home and working as a real estate agent. Lynnette enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, going to the beach, hiking, camping, reading and shopping. Surviving are her husband Clifton A. Hughes III; two sons Zachary Cole Warner and Clifton A. Hughes IV; father and stepmother Lance Warner and wife Janet of Sacramento; grandfather W.J. Warner of Chlioquin, Ore.; grandmother Ruby Warner of Mendocino, Calif.; brother Lance Justin Warner of Sacramento; sister Erica Warner of Sacramento; stepbrother Eddie Warner of Sacramento; and loving aunts uncles, cousins, and friends. Memorials services were held Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Indian Springs Baptist Church. Arrangements were by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home of Benton. Janice Gail Moore, 57, of Bryant, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004. She was preceded in death by her father Roy Moore and brother Myron Moore. RAYMOND WAYNE CAMPBELL
Raymond Wayne Campbell, 63, of Benton, an employee of Alcoa in the maintenance department, passed away Sunday morning Feb. 22, 2004. He was born Feb. 23, 1940, in Bauxite. He was a U.S. Army veteran and attended Sharon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father R.Raymond Campbell; and a grandson Canaan David Campbell. Surviving are his wife Judy Campbell; two sons Darin Wayne Campbell and wife Renee, and Dennis Alan Campbell and wife Jennifer; mother Clara Louise Campbell; three grandchildren Camille Alyss Campbell, Colton Devin Campbell and Cayla Breanna Campbell; brothers Gary Campbell of Virginia and Dale Campbell of Little Rock; sisters Terrell Ramsey of Bauxite and Linda Freeman of Huntsville. Funeral was Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, with Richard Hamlin and Mike Overton officaiating. Burial was at Sharon Cemetery.

Hubert Chenault, 84, Benton died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004. Surviving are his wife Ann; daughter Mary Riggins; step-sons Steven Flory, Mark Flory; stepdaughters Claudia Whitmire, Kay Hankins; three grandsons; five granddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Funeral was Monday, March 1, at Highland Heights Baptist Church. Burial was at New Rosemont. Arrangements were by Ashby Funeral Home of Benton.
