REV. HOWARD LYTLE WILLIAMS
Rev. Howard Lytle Williams, 87, of Little Rock, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at home with his family.
He earned his Bachelors Degree from Hendrix College in Conway, and his Master of Theology degree at Perkins School of Theology at SMU in Dallas, Texas. In the Little Rock Conference, he served as executive Secretary of Evangelism and, as Treasurer of the Board of Pensions, and served six years on the Board of Trustees at Hendrix College. He served as District Superintendent of the Fort Smith District. He served for over 55 years in many churches in Little Rock and North Arkansas Conferences.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years Dorothy Brown Williams; daughter Emily Williams of Little Rock; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Jeff Clements of Alexander; granddaughters Casey Hitt and Brittany Webber-Zeiner of Conway; granddaughter and husband Jessica and Josh Wood of Benton; great-granddaughter Jade Brannon of Benton; sisters Marian Bingamon of Altus, Okla., Sarah and husband Bob Bickle of Stillwater, Okla., Jo Ahlf of Searcy, Clara and husband Joe Lee Hathcote of Benton.
Funeral was Tuesday, May 11, at Trinity United Methodist Church of Little Rock, with Dr. Walter Smith and Rev. Louann Murphy officiating. Musical arrangements were by David Glaze, Minister of Music at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial was at Rosemont Cemetery in Benton.

Linda Lerlene Fite Cooley, 46, of Bryant, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004, at her home.
She was born June 11, 1957, at the Greenville Air Force Base in Mississippi.
She had been a Cosmetologist for Dillard's and called the Plainview Assembly of God Church home.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Riley and Clarice Oliver and Bernice C. and Lois Fite.
Surviving are a son Erik Michael Whittaker of Bryant; her parents Bernie Fite of Bryant and Velma Oliver of Bauxite; stepmother Carol Fite of Bryant; sister Brenda Fite of Sherwood; aunt Jean Young of El Dorado; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral was Tuesday, May 11, at Plainview Assembly of God Church, with Bro. Wayne Pavatt officiating. Burial was at Mount Olive Cemetery, with arrangements by Ashby Funeral Home.

Raymond Douglas Golenor, Sr., 79, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, May 7, 2004.
He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Malvern and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Lucille Golenor; one sister Margarette Seider of New York; and one brother Edward Golenor of Nebraska.
Surviving are his wife of almost 51 years Wilda Mae Golenor; one son Raymond Douglas Golenor, Jr. of Little Rock; one daughter Lynn Golenor Cortez and her husband Corey and their children, Krista and Colbe, all of Bryant; one brother Bill Golenor of Benton; five sisters Nancy Brown and Marion Moseley, both of Mabelvale, Helen Herrin and Pat Foster, both of Little Rock, and Judy Brown of Benton

Larry Joe Cross, 50, of Bauxite, passed away Wednesday April 5, 2004.
He was born Nov. 5, 1953 in Benton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother Edna Cross.
Surviving are a daughter Jacqueline Cook of Benton; his father Avery Cross of Benton; two brothers William Cross of Greenbrier and Melvin Cross of Benton; two sisters Imogene Gentry of Benton and Joyce Crocker of Maryland; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday, May 10, at New Summitt Cemetery, with Rev. John Best officiating. Arrangements were by by Ashby Funeral.

Ruby Edwards, 87, of Sherwood, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
She was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sisters Perline Cullum of Little Rock, Florene Stacks of Sherwood, Evelyn Pope of Houston, and Glenna Perry of Bossier City, La.; three brothers C.F. Edwards of Little Rock, Calvin Edwards of Benton and Benny Edwards of Bryant; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Saturday, May 8, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery in Solgohachia, Ark.
RET. COL. JAMES R. FULLER
Ret. Col. James R. Fuller, 69, of Benton, one of the most decorated soldiers in Arkansas, passed away May 10, 2004 at Baptist Hospital.
He received two Silver and six Bronze Stars, with clusters for heroism in ground combat, gallantry in action, meritorious duty, bravery, and many other military awards. As a graduate of Oklahoma State, he was a member of the National Champions Animal Science judging team. Past worshipful Master in Masonry, he was a member of Congo Masonic Lodge #743 and the Shriners. He was also a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his son William Fuller and parents Otis and Fay Fuller.
Surviving are a son Doug Griffiths of Arizona; a sister Emogene Wetherington of North Little Rock; his beloved niece and nephew Jamie Wetherington of Little Rock and Jim Wetherington (Angie) of Fayetteville, and three great nieces Grace, Rachel, and Hope Wetherington of Fayetteville.
Graveside services were Thursday, May 13, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Arrangements were by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home.
JOHN HOLLIS MCEWEN
John Hollis McEwen, 68, of Benton, passed away after a lengthy six years and nine months with cancer, on May 4, 2004.
He was born on April 28, 1936 in Dermott, and was a resident of Saline County for 27 years. He was a member of the Faith Fellowship and Jefferson Hunting Club. He retired after 20 years as a U.S. Army veteran, with a rank of SSC. He was also retired, after 17 years, from the Department of Corrections (Benton Unit) as a Lieutenant (Correctional Officer).
He was preceded in death by his son Brian Hollis McEwen; parents Laney and Ressie Mae (Kimbrell) McEwen; two sisters Mary Frey and Bobbie Jean Lloyd; and a granddaughter Kathleen Nicole Thompson.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years Lois Irene McEwen; daughter Shelly Lynn Thompson and husband Gary Wayne Thompson of Bauxite; and a granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Thompson of Bauxite.
Funeral was Saturday, May 8, at Ashby Funeral Home. Burial was at New Rosemont Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rex Davis, David McEwen, Ellis Milam, Charles Horne, Buddy Bruton and Sammy Cole.
LORENA T. ROE
Lorena T. Roe, 89, of White Hall, a homemaker, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at White Hall Nursing Center.
She was born July 7, 1914, in Dardanelle, to William and Mattie Dietrich Tillman. She married Henry Roe in 1929 and they lived in Mabelvale for many
years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Ricky Roe, five brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are three sons Mike Roe of Bryant, Bill Roe of Houston, Texas and Roger Roe of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter Delma Cotner of Pine Bluff; 10
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Friday, May 7, at Pinecrest Memorial Park, with Rev. Tim Law officiating. Arrangements are by Ralph Robinson and Son.
CHIEF LITTLE HORSE, H.F. BARBOUR
Chief Little Horse, H.F. Barbour, 84, of Benton, passed away on Aug. 28, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Corinia Barbour, and sisters Linda Greson and Grace Beasley. This proud World War II Army veteran began an acting career, after his service, with such "greats" as John Wayne. He retired to Benton.
Surviving are special friend Ina Mabry of Benton; niece Katherine Shaw and husband Kenneth Shaw of Bryant; Barbara Ann Post of Pennsylvania; two nieces and two nephews; great-nieces; nephews; cousins and a host of friends.
Memorial services were held at the Arkansas Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, on Friday, Sept. 3.
LEE EDMONSON BURNS TULL
Lee Edmonson Burns Tull inherited her heavenly mansion on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004.
She was born on Dec. 17, 1919, to Dee and Mona Edmonson. Most of her life was lived in Bauxite, a place that remained special to her to the end. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Frank Burns; and her son Joe Burns. Her second husband, Raymond Tull, also preceded her in 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane Wilmoth (J.Randle) of Benton; daughter-in-law Mary Jane Burns of Bryant; step-daughter Rosemary Tull Kirby (Mel) of Sardis and stepson Tom Tull (Dana) of Little Rock; brothers Dan Edmonson (Dorotha), 29 Palms, Calif., and Lynn Edmonson (Pat) of Jackson, Tenn.; grandchildren Jon Wilmoth of Pinellas Park, Fla., Amy Burns and Andy Burns of Little Rock; step-grandchildren include Karen Guinn (Michael) of Sardis, Kim Black (Robert) of Benton, Cameron and Corey Tull of Little Rock; and her loving and dedicated caregiver Juanita Montgomery of Alexander. She had four step-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends whose lives she influenced greatly.
She was a graduate of Bauxite High School, Henderson State University and the U of A at Fayetteville. She taught school in Camden, Cove, Benton, and Bauxite and also gave private piano lessons. Professional affiliations have included Delta Kappa Gamma and Saline County Retired Teachers. Other organizations dear to her heart included the Bauxite Ladies Luncheon Scholarship Organization, Saline County Quilters Guild, Bauxite Historical Association & Museum and many church activities at Trinity Baptist Church of which she was a charter member.
Funeral was Friday, Sept. 3, at Trinity Baptist Church, with Dr. Rick Grant, a former student, and Rev. David Dusek officiating. Burial was at Bauxite Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ashby Funeral Home of Benton.

JOYS ANN KEARNEY
Joys Ann Kearney, 61, of Little Rock, passed away Sept. 4, 2004, at her home.
She was born May 22, 1943, to the late Paul and Myrtis Nowlin. She had worked as a locksmith for many years.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth Nowlin and one grandchild Melody Darby.
Surviving are her husband of 25 years Calvin Kearney; daughters Donna Darby and her husband Tom of Mount Vernon, Phyllis Stone of Clinton, and Sherri Crowder and her husband Chris of Beebe; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Rosa Lee Wells of Bryant and Mary Louise Jackson of Mufreesboro, Ill.; brothers Paul Ray Nowlin of Conway and Glen Nowlin of Falmouth, Ky.

JUNE LILLIAN ABBOTT
June Lillian Abbott, the daughter of Albert and Florence Curtis Weisfuss, was born in Midlothian, Ill., on July 23, 1923, and passed away in Little Rock on Sept. 4, 2004, at the age of 81 years.
She was a very devoted wife and mother, and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Fairfield Bay. She was a member of the Altar Society of the church and the Card Club of Greers Ferry. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son William, a brother Albert, and two sisters Margaret and Florence.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years Charles William Abbott, Sr.; three sons Richard of Alexander, Ronald of Tinley Park, Ill., and Charles, Jr. of Flower Mound, Texas; a daughter Mary Therese of Joliet, Ill.; and a daughter-in-law Anita Abbott of Orland Park, Ill.; a half-brother Chuck Sampson of Willow Springs, Ill.; and a half-sister Barbara Gervasi of Baldwin Park, Calif. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 7, in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Fairfield Bay. Arrangements were by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs.

COLONEL DALE DENMAN
Colonel Dale Denman, 82, U.S. Army (Retired), died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004.
His decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantry Badge. He was a member of the VFW and First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife Suzanne; daughters Alexandra Stein of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dale Denman III of Downington, Pa.; his brother Robert Denman of Bryant; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Friday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Heber Springs.
LUCILLE MAE VOGELGESANG
Lucille Mae Vogelgesang of North Little Rock, died Sept. 5, 2004, at Arkansas Hospice.
She was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Lincoln, Neb., to George and Eunice (Burdick) Wendelin. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Leroy Vogelgesang; sister Eunice Carroll and brother Earl Wendelin.
"Our mother lived her life for her family. Her quiet strength and love sustained us all through times of trials and joy in our lives. She made us proud to be her children."
Surviving are her children Maynard, of North Little Rock, Arleta Power and her husband Bob of Little Rock, Mary Lou Suitt of Sumter, S.C., and Mike of Bryant; five grandchildren Tony and his wife Connie Vogelgesang of Little Rock, Patty Gillioun of DesArc, Gene Standridge of Roland, Tara Ashcraft of North Little Rock and Jason Suitt and his fianc Laura Hulett of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren Jennifer Golden of Monticello and Claire and Gatlin Vogelgesang of Little Rock; four sisters-in-law, five nephews and six nieces.

Joan W. Newnam, 74, of Benton, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, in Benton.
She was the widow of Rev. James K. Newnam and loved serving as a pastor?s wife for over 35 years. In the ?80s, she worked at the El Dorado Tax Assessor?s Office during tax time and worked in the cafeteria at Parker?s Chapel. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved her cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters Hazel LupPlace and Alice Clytee Tapp and grandchildren Julie and Andrew Wilson.
Surviving are her daughters Leah Vocque and husband Ralph of the Sardis Community, and Janice Wilson and husband Glenn of Junction City, La.; sister Helen Hammock of Hot Springs; grandchildren Jessica, Jamie, Jennie and John Vocque, all of the Sardis Community, and Matt and Sean Wilson of Junction City, La.; great-granddaughter Natalie Vocque; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John Jacob Hinkson, 89, of Little Rock, a retired electrician, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 2, 2004.
He was born Jan. 29, 1915 and was a retired electrician for Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Hinkson, and a son Rev. Willis Hinkson.
Surviving are one daughter Hester Hinkson of Glendale, Ariz.; three sons John D. Hinkson of Alexander, Steve Hinkson of Clinton and Herbert Hinkson of Dwight, Kan.; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Paulette Deuink, 54, of Cabot, employed by CenturyTel as an administrative assistant for over 25 years, died Sept. 1, 2004.
She was born Nov. 25, 1949, at Jacksonville to the late Burl Roderweis and Frances Douglas Roderweis.
Surviving are one son Matt Nation of Cabot; two daughters Christy Shearer and husband Scott of Bryant, Michelle Messer and husband Shan of Paragould; one sister Patricia Healey of Texas; and two grandchildren Natasha Shearer and Christopher Messer.

Barbara Jean Lockridge, 63, of Bauxite, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004.
She was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Bauxite to the late Felton and Mable Lewis. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Mark and Bobby Lewis.
Surviving are her husband Jerry Lockridge and a son Darrell Lockridge of Bauxite.

Climmie Pearl Buckelew, 84, of Tull, a homemaker, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004.
She was born on April 20, 1920, in El Dorado and was a member of the Art Guild and the Saline Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Surviving are three sons Richard F., Robert A. and Paul W. Buckelew, all of Benton; two daughters Nina M. Westbrook and Elizabeth F. Blankenship, both of Tull; five brothers Dub, Billy, Bobby, Ray and Ralph, all of Benton; sister Evelyn Bledsoe of Benton; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Kent Clay Taylor, 48, of Benton, a painter, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004.
He was born on May 2, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Clay Rice Taylor.
Surviving are his mother Glenda Taylor Ewing and husband Ben of Benton; two sons Allen Taylor and Jonathan Taylor, both of Little Rock; and three brothers Tim Taylor of Hot Springs, Dennis Taylor of Plano, Texas, and Mike Taylor of Arizona.

Jeremy Allen Holmes, 20, of Benton, died Sunday [Sept. 5, 2004].

Vera Lorraine White, 81, of Benton, died on Aug. 30, 2004, at Little Rock Heart Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born April 9, 1923, in Toledo, Ill., to the late Dr. C.C. and Alice Massie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Harold and her first husband Mac W. Huffman, Sr., who were killed in World War II; her sister Nola Lutz; and her husband Russell L. White of Benton. She was a member of First Christian Church in Benton.
Surviving are sons Mac W. Huffman, Jr. and wife Kris of Little Rock and Bryan White and wife Betty of Benton; daughter Judith and husband John McEuen of Greenbrier; brother Lowell E. Massie of Illinois; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
