MARTHA STANLEY

The funeral for Martha Stanley, 91, of Hamburg was Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Hamburg. The Rev. Bobby Pennington, the Rev. Klois Hargis and the Rev. Jim Taylor officiated. Burial is in Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home, Hamburg.

Born in Ashley County, Mrs. Stanley lived in Hamburg for 72 years. She graduated from Fountain Hill High School. Mrs. Stanley was a homemaker and worked at the Hamburg Shirt Factory for many years.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Hamburg. Mrs. Stanley died Saturday.

Her husband, Johnnie Stanley; one son, Jimmy Glen Stanley; and one grandson; and eight brothers and sisters preceded in death.

Survivors include one son, John Stanley Sr. of Hot Springs; four daughters, Virginia Bolin of Morrilton; Betty Sled of Crossett, Nancy Rankin of Hamburg and Debbie Beaver of Camden; one sister, Edna Shook of North Little Rock; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Jim Rankin, Stan Rankin, Josh Rankin, Jim Sled, John A. Stanley Jr. and Matt Key were pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at P.O .Box 352 in Hamburg.

LOUISE CARPENTER THOMPSON

The funeral for Louise Carpenter Thompson, 80, of Little Rock, was Thursday at Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Reese officiating. Burial is in Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home, Hamburg.

Born in Ashley County, Mrs. Thompson lived in Anniston, Ala., Hamburg and Little Rock. She was a homemaker and a former member of Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thompson died Oct. 16 at home.

Her husband, John Thompson; a step-son, Russell Thompson; a brother, Quinton F. Carpenter; and a sister, Hazel Emogene White, preceded in death.

Survivors include four brothers, James Edwin Carpenter of Monticello, Glynn “Poe” Carpenter of Booneville, Clifton Doyle Carpenter and William Oliver Carpenter, both of Hamburg; and two sisters, Marjorie Nathalee Moore of Spring, Texas and Mattie Ruth Threlkeld of Little Rock.

Robert Carpenter, Bobby Kurstin, Bill Carpenter, Edward White, Roger White, Charles “Bull” Wells and Dewey “Scutter” Kilcrease served as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Promise Land Cemetery Association at 318 Ashley 131 Road in Hamburg.

ROSALIND WHITE

A memorial service for Rosalind Shekinah White, 15, of Crossett, will be 2 p.m. on Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with the Rev. Thomas Ward officiating.

The body has been cremated under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home, El Dorado.

Born in El Dorado, Miss White was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Crossett and a sophomore at Crossett High School. She died Oct. 17 at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Her mother, Brenda Bowens White, and one brother, Derrick White, preceded in death.

Survivors include her father, Clifton White of Crossett; and two sisters, Regina S. White of Crossett and Delisha White of Dallas.

THELMA ESTELLE

The funeral for Thelma Estelle, 89, of Hamburg was Thursday at Mount Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Elliott and the Rev. Hurley Ashcroft officiating. Burial is in Hamburg Cemetery, under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home, Hamburg.

Born in Crossett, Mrs. Estelle lived in Milo for 70 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church.

She died December 17 at Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett.

Her husband, Cloy Estelle, and two brothers, J.L. Johnson and David Johnson, preceded in death.

Survivors include one son, Julian Estelle of Hamburg; one daughter, Peggy Gifford of Hamburg; two sisters, Leona Jordan and Ardelle Seach, both of Crossett; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Fredrick Hollis, John Richardson, Jimmy Meeks, Paul Carr, Dewey Carter, Buddy Seach and Bill Rodgers served as pallbearers.

GUADALUPE MONDRAGON

Graveside services for Guadalupe Mondragon, infant, were Thursday in Hamburg Cemetery. The Rev. Theophilus Okpara officiated under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home, Hamburg.

She was born and died Dec. 18 at Ashley County Medical Center.

Survivors include her parents, Aucialfredo and Maria Mondragon of Hamburg, and her grandparents, Maria Dolores and Mauricio Mondragon of Hamburg and Ruben Torres of Mexico.

FATS HOLLAND

Funeral services for Ervin "Fats" Holland, 94, of Portland were on Tuesday at the Portland Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Williams and Brother Jerry Selby officiating. Interment followed at the Portland Cemetery under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home.

Holland died on Sunday at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Aulds Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Owens Holland; three brothers, Bill Holland, John Holland and George Holland; and a sister, Lou Frazer.

He is survived by a son, Larry Holland of Hamburg; a half-sister, Bernice Tarkington of Memphis, Tenn.; a half-brother, Dee Holland of Conway and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Darrell Clifton, Henry Matthews, Ronnie Kelley, Carol Harris, Allen Gilliam and Benny Gilliam.
