Mr. Martin Oldham
Mr. Martin Oldham, 53, of Baker, LA, died Saturday, October 27, 2001, at the Baton Rouge General Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. A native of Tyronza, a Baker, LA, resident for the past 11 years and a former resident of Portland, Marked Tree and Monroe, LA, he graduated from Marked Tree High School in 1966 and attended Arkansas State University. He was an U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era, a carpenter contractor journeyman and a certified electrician. A member of the Bethany Christian Church in Baker, LA, he was preceded in death by his father, William Oldham, Sr., in 1984, and a brother, Bill Oldham in 1992.
Survivors include his mother, Irene Coats Oldham; a sister, Susan Lawson, both of Baker, LA; a sister-in-law, Joan Oldham of Portland; and two nieces, Emily Oldham of Portland and Amy Mimiaga of Denver, CO.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg with Rev. Larry Donaldson officiating. Pallbearers were to be Ed Ellis, Todd Adams, Peter Farragut, Gil Constant, Heath and Jerry Breedlove, H. T. Cunningham and Carlton Lawrence. Burial was to follow services at the Portland Cemetery.

Zachary Wayne Clark Russell
Zachary Wayne Clark Russell, 16, of Crossett died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at his home. Born Nov. 23, 1984, to his parents, Bryan Russell and Cindy Robinson in Bastrop, LA, Zach had completed the ninth grade at St. John's Military Academy as a 1st Sergeant Major. While there, he was awarded three Parade Ribbons, a Personal Appearance Ribbon, LET Service Ribbon, Proficiency Ribbon, JROTC Commendation Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Varsity Athletic Ribbon (football), Blue Leadership Tabs, NCO Leadership Tabs, Gold Medal Star, the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States Medal, the J.D. Berkley Scholarship and two Service Stripes.
Survivors include his mother, Cindy Robinson of Crossett; his father, Bryan Russell of Florida; two sisters, Ryann Lauren Russell of Crossett and Shelby Russell of Florida; his grandparents, Frankie Jean Deal Welchel and Terry Welchel of Crossett, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Robinson of Crossett, Billy and Sue Russell of Texas; his great-grandparents, Calvin Frank and Dorothy Carter Deal of Crossett; one uncle and two aunts, Downey C. and Barbie Robinson of Crossett, and Cheryl Russell Barrett of Texas; two cousins, Brooklyn Robinson of Crossett and Robert Barrett of Texas.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Thomas officiating. Pallbearers were Russ Deal, Jason Robison, Jason Rhodes, Stephen Miller, Scott McMillan, Stetson Moon and Dennis Moon. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Kelley, George Lewis, Mathew Griffith, Jamie Carpenter, Luke Carter, Jim Lawless, Rusty Atchison, Ricky Jones, Shane Reeves, Daniel Peters, and Josh and Justin Lochala.
Burial followed services at Deal
Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to Deal Cemetery, 901 Pine Street, Crossett, Ark. 71635.

Jewell Woodrow Powell
Jewell Woodrow Powell, 85, of Johnson City, Tennessee, died October 11. 2001. He was a native of Ashley County and was in insurance and real estate in Magnolia for forty years. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Simpson Powell and Wiley Powell.
Survivors are his wife, Madeline Powell of Johnson City, TN and two children, John Powell of Houston, Texas and Jana Losey of Johnson City, TN and five grandchildren. Funeral service was at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Dorothy N. Carpenter
Dorothy N. Carpenter, 71, of Crossett died Wednesday, October 17, 2001, at her home. Born August 23, 1930, in Crossett to Johnnie and Lillian Jones Aiken, she retired as a payroll auditor with Georgia-Pacific after 30 years of service. She was a Baptist and loved taking care of her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, John C. Carpenter, Jr., of Crossett; three sons, John C. Carpenter III of Owasso, OK, Michael E. Carpenter of Springfield, MO, and James F. Carpenter of Monroe, GA; one daughter, Rebecca Weidmann of El Paso, AR; her mother, Lillian Aiken of Crossett; two grandsons, Erick Carpenter of Osceola and John Cody Carpenter of Owasso, OK; one granddaughter, Staci R. Carpenter of Owasso, OK; one sister, Patricia Lochala of Crossett; one brother, Jackie Aiken of Wright; and two aunts, Mary Ellen Bays and Lessie Pennington of Crossett.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 19, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Bro. Roy Craig officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Richardson, Jim Pettit, H. T. Nichols, Mike Webb, Phillip Gates and Don Hart.
Burial followed services at the Crossroads Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
