Edna E. Edens
Edna E. Edens, 77, of Crossett died Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at the North Monroe, LA, Hospital. Born September 12,1924, to Edward Clayton and Beulah Katy Lichliter Moody, she was a homemaker, worked for twelve years as a licensed psychiatric technician and was a member of the Friendship Pentecostal Church of God. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Debi Plum.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Rev. Charles M. Edens of Crossett; one son, Jimmy Edens and wife Lori of Bismarck; three daughters, Jeanette Sawyer and husband Lindsey, Vanita Croswell and husband Buddy and Brenda Chesser and husband Edgar, all of Crossett; four sisters, Ann E. Terrill of Schulter, OK, Ester Kyles of Texarkana, TX, Vernie Carver of Texarkana, AR; and Donnie Lee of Atlanta, TX; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, October 12, in the Friendship Pentecostal Church of God with Bro. Billy Dunahoe officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Plum, Chris Croswell, Jason Croswell, James "Bubba" Edens, Jr., Michael Sawyer and Bryan Bays.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Dalton Howell Johnson
Dalton Howell Johnson, 60, of Sherwood, formerly of Hamburg, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a singer, guitar player, and BMI songwriter. He and his wife performed and traveled as The Johnson Family. He served eight years in the Army Reserves.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Wilson Johnson; three sons, David Johnson of Mansfield, Texas, Daryl Johnson of Grand Saline, Texas, and Christopher Johnson of Sherwood; one daughter, Julie Johnson of Bryant; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, B.M. Johnson of Warren; five sisters, Lorene Reed and Athalene Armstrong of Warren, Audrey Berry of Ajo, Arizona, Willie Lovitt of Newport News, Virginia, and Elaine Yarberry of New Boston, Texas.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, in the North Little Rock Funeral Home chapel with Chaplain Russell Howard and Rev. Cecil Harvey officiating. Burial followed services at 2:30 p.m. at the Union Hill Cemetery in Hermitage.

Mrs. Vicki Laskey Pennington
Mrs. Vicki Laskey Pennington, 39, of Hamburg died Monday, October 8, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A lifelong resident of Hamburg, she graduated from Hamburg High School in 1980 and was a construction worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Pennington, in 1995; a brother, Phillip Laskey, in 1988; her maternal grandparents, Norwood and Carrie Courson Hill; and her paternal grandfather, Phillip Laskey.
She is survived by two daughters, Raigen Smith and Danyel Pennington; her parents, Ray & Winda Hill Laskey, all of Hamburg; her paternal grandmother, Agnes Laskey of Worth, IL; an aunt, Linda Harville of Hamburg; and an uncle, Felix Laskey of Calumet Park, IL.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, in the Hamburg First United Methodist Church with Rev. Leslee Phillips officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Courson, John Courson, Wayne Davis, Richard Courson, Barry Davis & Don Davis. Interment followed services at the Pinewood Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Hamburg First United Methodist Church, 202 S. Main, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Elener Scales Rance
Elener Scales Rance, 99, of Crossett died Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native of Hamburg, she was a homemaker and a member of the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Plez Rance, Sr., and her parents, Nick and Virginia Hill Scales.
Survivors include three sons, Willie Ed Rance of Taylor, TX, Plez Rance, Jr., of Crossett and Donald Rance of Oakland, CA; three daughters, Annie Tharpe and Margaret Deloney of Crossett and Abbie Cone of Pine Bluff; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Monday, October 15, in the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church with Rev. Tyrone Broomfield officiating. Pallbearers were Charles Cone, Vic Moseby, Freddie Tharpe, Donald Rance, Larry Tharpe, Melvin Tharpe and Plez Rance, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the stewards and stewardesses of Gates Chapel. Burial followed services at the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
