Gerald Harvey "Pete" Stratton
Gerald Harve "Pete" Stratton, 82, of Crossett died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born born April 21, 1919, in Marsden to parents John Edward and Lizzie Padfield Stratton, he was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving in the Ninth Air Division during World War II. Mr. Stratton received several decorations and citations including the Bronze Service Star. He retired in 1984 from AD&N Railroad after 35 years of service as a conductor. Mr. Stratton enjoyed coaching Little League baseball for many years and was a football official with the Arkansas Athletic Association for seven years, and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Gertie Stratton; one brother, Harold Stratton; and two sisters, Ruby Evone and Emma Marjorie Stratton.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Stephens Stratton of Crossett; one son, John Stratton of Indianola, Miss.; one daughter, Stella Turbeville of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one brother, Phil Stratton of Conway; two sisters, Catherine Dixon of Crossett and Gloria Jean Buckaloo of Memphis; four grandchildren, John Stratton II, Charisse Oberle, Carrie Johnson, and Ryan Strebeck; and two great-grandchildren, Malon Stratton and Lena Marie Johnson.
Funeral services were planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Pallbearers were to be Harold Bonnette, Bill Jordan, Don Hart, John Carpenter, A. B Moore and Jim Pettit. Honorary pallbearers were to be Hampton Etheridge, Terry Terai, John T. Brooks, Bailey Hankins, members of the Prairie Country Club's Men's Golf Association and the Andy's Morning Coffee Pals.
Interment was to follow at Lakewood Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Crossett, 500 Main St., Crossett, Ark., 71635.
Patsy Ann Edwards Webb
Patsy Ann Edwards Webb, 56, of Crossett died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 9, 1944, to the late Preston "Pete" and Ottie McFalls Edwards in Gould. Mrs. Webb worked as a laborer at the Bag Plant and was a member of North Crossett First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Edwards, and two sisters, Neva Hackleton and Bonnie Burton.
Survivors include her husband, Rudy Webb of Crossett; one son, Steven Webb of Crossett; one daughter, Michelle Webb Rogers of El Dorado; three brothers, H. D. Edwards of Crossett, Charles Edwards of Pine Bluff, and Mack Edwards of Cabot; one sister, Linda Barringer of Pine Bluff; and five grandchildren, Zan and Tyler Webb; Laura, Leslie and Lacey Rogers.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the North Crossett First Baptist Church. Pallbearers were to be Denon Cagle, Ervin Rodgers, Dewey Ward, Larry Martin, Ronnie Rickman and Mershall Carpenter. Interment was to follow services at the Leake Cemetery in Star City, under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Jewel Dean Boseman
Jewel Dean Boseman, 76, of Crossett died Saturday, October 6, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care of Hamburg. A native of Warren and a Crossett resident for 55 years, she was a homemaker and member of the Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellis Bell; her second husband, Willie Travis Boseman; and two sisters, Mildred Zacharius and Eva Thrillkill.
Survivors include two sons, Travis Ray Boseman and Jerry Wayne Bell of Crossett; a daughter, Marcia Wilcox of Crossett; two sisters, Florine McClain of Monroe, LA, and Hazel Frye of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, in the Cromwell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Carlton White officiating. Burial was to follow services at Pinewood Memorial Park.
John William Grant
John William Grant, 83, of Monticello died Thursday, October 4, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Monticello. He was born May 24, 1918, in Drew County to the late Drew Grant and Mattie Brooks Grant. He was retired from texile mill work as a supply agent and was an U. S. Navy veteran, a deacon emeritus of First Baptist Church of Monticello and a Mason. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Terri Lee Nichols; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Martha Jane Tedder Grant of Monticello; one daughter, Denitia Nichols of Palestine, TX; one brother, Lamer Grant of Jacksonville, NC; two grandchildren, Janet and Jana Cunningham of Milo; and two great-grandchildren, Krystal Deal and Karlee Robbins.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 14, in the First Baptist Church of Monticello with burial at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Dodson officiating. Arrangements were by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home of Monticello.
