Cora Lee "Ms. Pete" Williams
Cora Lee "Ms. Pete" Williams, 87 of Hamburg, formerly of Montrose, died Thursday, September 27, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care of Hamburg. A native of Rison, she lived in Montrose for 35 years and was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Robizine Holmes and Sophia Barnes; a son, James Curtis "J. C." Wade; her parents, Eugene and Lula Dunlap Duncan; three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Mr. Matthew Williams; three sons, Duncan Wade of Little Rock, Celesey Barnes of Flint, MI, and Lamon Barnes of Milwaukee, WI; four daughters, Olere Johnson of Little Rock, Georgia Johnson of North Little Rock; and Bertha Hill and Hertha Peters of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers, Nathaniel Duncan of Des Moines, IA, and Leon Duncan of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Jane Matthews and Dora Haynes of Flint, MI; 63 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, in the New Light Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Mitchell officiating. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Burial will follow services at the Montrose Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Frances Martin Brown
Mrs. Frances Martin Brown, 72, of Bastrop, LA, died Monday, March 16, 2000, at the Morehouse General Hospital. She was a retired cafeteria superintendent of St. Joseph's Catholic School and a member of Bonnie Idee Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Christopher Chance Tate.
Survivors include two daughters, Nencia Sue Johnson and Rebecca Ann Diel; three sons, Richard Lamar Boykin, Kenneth Bryant Tate, and Terry Wayne Tate Sr.; one sister, Patricia Ann Roberts; four brothers, Jesse Elvin Martin, Clyde Thomas Martin, James Paul Blocker, and Joe Albert Blocker; a stepson, sixteen grandchildren, David Boykin, Deborah Jonin, Lucinda Tate, Jason Tate, Kenneth Tate, Angela Tate, Dustin Tate, Dewey Diel, Tabitha Eppinalle, Danny Diel Jr., Rebecca Brakefield, and Lona Page; three step-great-grandchildren and three great-grandchild, Kimberly Diel, T.J. Tate, and Malcolm Tate.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 16, at the Golden Chapel in Bastrop with Rev. Jerry Stuckey officiating. Grave-side services followed at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Hamburg. Pallbearers were Mike Fussell, Dardell Bostic, Louis Maddock, Greg Cheek, Jerry Bryan, and Ronnie White.

Berdie Benjamin Clark
Berdie Benjamin Clark, 84, of Crossett died Friday, March 17, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born July 8, 1915, to Arthur and Ethel Aultman Clark, he was a self-employed welder, a charter member of the Crossett Riding Club, and a member of the Beulahland Assembly of God. He loved hunting and sports.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Clark of Crossett; a son, Arthur Fay Clark of Felsenthal; two sisters, Dean Maheras of Napa Valley, CA, and Dorothy Childers of Crossett; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Tommy Kimbel officiating. Pallbearers were Richard and Tab Childers, Jamie Poole, Allen Clark, Keith Forrest, Lee Allen and Joe Bolin.
Burial followed services at Pinewood Memorial Park.

Janice Yenni Clark
Janice Yenni Clark, 89, of Crossett, widow of Ellis William Clark, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, after a long illness. A retired journalist who had written for three state and two local papers, she preserved many of her stories in the Paul Sullins Library in Crossett. Her articles included in-depth histories of first schools, churches, businesses and accounts of the times by early settlers of the area. She was a devoted artist and a member of the American Watercolor Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Truitt Newton of Decatur, AL; a son, Ellis Banks Clark of Hobe Sound, FL; a brother, Donald Yenni of Ann Arbor, MI; two sisters, Julia Hikes of Cambridge, MA, and Hallie Brown of Pensacola, FL: three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Crossett with Rev. Larry Williams and Robert Fisher officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Webb, James Cosby, Bruce DeLess, James Tarver, Edward Holt and James Manning. Burial followed services at the Crossroads Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
