Lillian Marie McDaniel
Lillian Marie McDaniel, 81, of Crossett, formerly of Harrell, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born March 24, 1918, in Bradley County to the late Pate and Fronie Journey Davis, she was a homemaker and a member of the Union Grove Assembly of God. She marriage Floyd McDaniel on May 16, 1936, and he died June 13, 1962.
Survivors are two daughters, Nina Gilbert and Betty Jane Hooks, both of Crossett; a brother, C. R. Davis of Camden; two sisters, Bertha Davis of Hampton and Ida Mae Heath of Harrell; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, in the Union Grove Assembly of God in Cleveland County with Rev. Moss officiating. Pallbearers included Ronnie Davis, John Parker, Randy Heath, Emmett Parker, Hershel Parker and Pete Heath. Burial followed services at the Union Grove Cemetery with arrangements by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.
Rose Rice
Rose Rice, 71, of Shreveport, LA, formerly of Crossett, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at the Schumpert-Dubuis Hospital in Shreveport. Born July 27, 1928, to Darrell Lee and Etta Meeks Smith in Milo, she was a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lee Ann Sowyers, and her husband, Kenneth Owen Rice.
Survivors are two sons, Ronnie Owen Rice and Bruce Rice; a daughter, Jo Ann Rice, all of Shreveport; three grandchildren, David Owen Dvorshock, Wayne Allen Rice and Stephanie Brook Rice; two great-grandchildren and two nephews.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Rev. Roy Craig officiating. Pallbearers were Donald Chance, Joe Barnett, Calvin Fletcher, Jimmy Meeks, Dennis Barnett and Gary Wayne Smith. Burial followed services at the Simms Cemetery.
Ora Lee Smith
Ora Lee Smith, 66, of Kansas City, KS, formerly of Wilmot, died Tuesday, February 28, 2000, in Kansas City. She was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Kansas City for the past two years, a homemaker and a member of the Rising Star Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, Norman Smith; two sons, Herbert Smith of Wilmot and Kenneth Woods of Kansas City, KS; two daughters, Regina Smith of Minneapolis, MN, and Margaret Bolton of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Mary Lou Brown and Lucille Strickland of Wilmot; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in the Union Baptist Church in Wilmot with Rev. David Green officiating. Pallbearers were to be Herbert Smith, Kenneth Woods, Norman Bolton, Kenneth Woods, Jr., Marcus Wilson, Mario Wilson, Marton Wilson and Michael Wilson. Burial was to follow services at the Walnut Grove, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Mr. Roosevelt "Bo" Vines, Sr.
Mr. Roosevelt (Bo) Vines, Sr. 65, of Parkdale, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. Mr. Vines was a native of Rayville, LA a life-long resident of Parkdale, a mechanic and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal & Anna Lee Langley Vines; a sister, Christine Vail; and two brothers, Doyle & Harold Vines.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Vines, Jr., and Carlton Vines of Parkdale; a daughter, Doris Hammond of Wilmot; two sisters, Estelle Cossey of Parkdale and Eddie Lee Vail of El Dorado; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services and interment were at 10 a.m., Monday, March 6, at the Parkdale Cemetery with Rev. Harry Noble officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Ron Miller, Stevie Hammond, J. D. Grice, J.D. Grice, Jr., Jack McManus and Bobby Vail. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Parkdale Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Glenda Wells, P.O. Box 104, Parkdale, AR 71661.
