Mr. Cordell Edward Williams
Mr. Cordell Edward Williams, 88, of Crossett died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at his home. A life long resident of Ashley County, he was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Denell Williams; his parents, Starling and Julia Taylor Williams; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are a son, Robert Earl Williams of Richmond, CA; two stepsons, Glenn Frinch of Richmond, CA, and Donald Frinch of Washington; and two daughters, Judy Pray of Clinton, IA and Vertis Prescott Wright of Chicago, IL.
Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Thursday March 9, in the Gates Chapel A. M. E. Church with Revs. Tryone Broomfield and Fred Starling officiating. Burial will follow services at the Siloan Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Syble Dennis
Mrs. Syble Dennis, 93, of Parkdale died Friday, February 25, 2000, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Lake Village. Mrs. Dennis was a native of Higdon, a resident of Parkdale since 1939 and a homemaker. She was a member of the Parkdale Baptist Church and she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Dennis, in 1993 and her parents, Alfred & Cora Chilton Tackett.
Survivors include by two nieces, Kaye Burcham of Brandon, MS, and Clair Criswell of Greenville, MS, and a great-niece, Leasa Watkins of Southaven, MS.
Grave-side funeral services and interment were 2 p.m., Sunday, February 27, in the Parkdale Cemetery with Rev. Harry Noble officiating. Funeral arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Parkdale Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Glenda Wells, P.O. Box 104, Parkdale, AR 71661.

Mr. Jerry Edwards
Mr. Jerry Edwards, 77, of Snyder, died Saturday, February 26, 2000, at his residence. He was a native of Birmingham, AL; a resident of the Snyder community for the past two years and a resident of Lake Village for most of his life. He was a retired farmer and retired from the State Highway Department. He was an U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Lake Village. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Rebecca Ann Edwards Brake; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his parents; Austin & Deora Lee Thomas Edwards; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Hazel Perry Edwards of Snyder; seven sons, Jerry Carlton Edwards, Jr. of Minden, LA, Martin Don Edwards of Bastrop, LA, Terry Wayne Edwards of Shawdaloo, LA, Kenneth Edwards of Hamburg, Eddie Edwards of Dermott, Robert Edwards of Lake Village and John Edwards of Snyder; four daughters, Jeanette Hutchinson of Tillar, Nancy Williamson of Portland, Linda Roberts of Hamburg and Annette Jones of Lake Village; a foster son, David Day of Bastrop, LA; two brothers, Charles E. & Donald Edwards, both of Magnolia; one sister, Virginia Grice of Parkdale; 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 29, in the Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Ronnie Garrett and Rev. Phillip Payne officiating. Pallbearers were to be grandsons Donnie, Carlton, Jody, Kennon, Ronnie Jamie & Joey Edwards and Scooter Morphis. Honorary pallbearers were to be Ronald Clifton Edwards, Jamie Scroggins, Trey Jones, Kevin Day, Rusty & Dewayne Edwards and Dewayne McMickle. Interment was to follow services in the Oak Grove Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Mrs. Virgie Mae Ellis
Mrs. Virgie Mae Ellis, 71, of Crossett died Saturday, February 19,2000, at the Southeast Arkansas Medical Center in El Dorado. Mrs. Ellis was a native of Colquitt, LA, and a member of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church. She was proceeded in death by one son, James E. Ellis, Jr.; her parents, Matthew and Fannie Taylor Chetham; and two brothers, Jessie and Sylvester Chetham.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Ellis of Crossett; six sons: William Glenn and David Ellis of Crossett, Willie and Charles Ellis of Detroit, MI, Cleveland Ellis of Little Rock, and Carlos Ellis of Memphis, TN.; one daughter, Cheryl Walker of Crossett, and one adopted daughter, Sheila D. Wallace; one brother, Rochell Ellis of Detroit, MI; three sisters: Louise Jones of Crossett and Helen Newton and Lovie Bush, both of Flint, MI; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Byron Bess officiating. Pallbearers were Andre Ellis, Billy Ellis, Derrick Ellis, Ferrial Ellis, Marcus Ellis and Rochelle Ellis. Honorary pallbearers were Nathaniel Blake, Joe Green, Charles Moore and Clarence Steel. Interment was in the Westview Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
